Have you ever seen an Angel?-CH 4-

The giant star bolted through the air at amazing speed. Before it could reach the Death Teddy holding Dave it dispersed as it slashed through other Death Teddies. Crap! I’m killing energy like this.

I flew over to a tall building. My wings faded away as I got ready for my attack. I stuck both hands out forward. I concentrated on my Dark Scarab and slowly brought my two hands close to each other. As they touched the Dark Scarab glowed white and it split in half. Each hand now had a Dark Scarab. Handy. I’ll need the extra attack power.

I looked up at the mob of Death Teddies. Alex and Jenny were frantically trying to keep it under control. Jenny used short burst of Dragon Roar while Alex was slashing wildly with Fire Charge. I readied some stars into both hands. I took a breath and used Shadow Partner. My shadow rose up and took form behind me.

I took another breath. This is for you Dave. I used my last skill I would need. Claw Booster. Then I went all out.

I was using Lucky 7 about three times a second, but with two claws and shadow partner I was killing up to twenty-four Death Teddies a second. I felt my energy lowering drastically, but I was determined to use most of my energy until I had enough for six Avengers.

Around me Death Teddies were quickly fading away as they were struck with my stars.

After a few minutes I stopped. I fell to one knee panting. I released Shadow Partner and Claw Booster. The Dark Scarab on my left hand faded away. If only I knew it took some energy to sustain my left Dark Scarab. I figured I was down to only about two Avengers.

I looked up. Alex and Jenny were both tired. My blood froze. There was still about five-hundred Death Teddies left.

“Dave!” I shouted out angrily. The Death Teddy that had him was starting to drain his energy. I could see blue and red energy slipping away from Dave’s body and into the Death Teddy. I only got one chance! Better not waste it.

“Alex. I need some coverage!” I called out. Alex was on the ground. He nodded his head. He raised his blade into the air.

“My lady please use a full Dragon Roar!” Alex pleaded. Jenny obliged and released A Dragon Roar. It started to spread away from her.

Alex jumped on the edge of the current and started rising into the air. He used Fire Charge as he went up. He jumped off the Dragon Roar and started slashing all around him.

He started dropping towards the floor. He kept slashing. The Death Teddies all looked at him. They saw as he killed their companions. I wasn’t sure, but I could almost see a spark of anger flare in their eyes.

They stared down at him and started shooting magic bullets at him. He deflected some of them, but couldn’t deflect them all. I saw his body start shaking violently as the bullets dug into him. Blood started spilling out as he went down.

“Get away from him!” I shouted as the Death Teddies grabbed his body. Jenny looked horrified. She unfurled her wings and tried to get Alex back as the Death Teddies hungrily ate away at his energy.

I have to use it or Alex will die! I readied an Ilbi and started pouring my energy into it as I used Avenger. I threw it at the Death Teddies surrounding Alex. They all faded away as their bodies were slashed into halves. Jenny caught Alex and flew him to the ground.

On the ground I could see her healing him. I stared at my claw. One shot left. Wait. That might work! I formulated a plan with my last Avenger. I guessed it had about a 60% chance of working, but it was my only option.

I unfurled by GM wings and flew through the air towards the Death Teddy holding Dave. About one-hundred Death Teddies were left. They all surrounded the Death Teddy holding Dave. As I came nearer they started shooting magic bullets at me. I just held up my arms and flew through them.

My mind screamed out in pain as the bullets cut up my flesh. Just withstand it a little longer. As I was a few feet away from the mob I used Avenger. I held onto it tightly as I flew through.

I started slashing at the Death Teddies as I kept flying on. One by one they fell. Each time my star grew smaller and smaller as the layers of energy on it burned away.

I saw the Death Teddy holding Dave a few feet ahead of me. As I reached it my Avenger had burned out completely. It charged up a magic bullet to kill me. I imagined up a Steelie.

It released its bullet as I threw my Steelie. I saw Dave open his eyes a crack. He reached out to me. The bullet hit my chest as the Steelie dug into its face. The bullet disintegrated, but the Steelie remained. I could hear its alien screams as it released Dave. I felt myself drained.

My GM wings disappeared as I fell through the air. I could feel my Hermit clothes slowly fade away. I caught up to Dave. He was barely conscious.

“Don’t worry. We’ll get out of this.” I promised him. Dave started to laugh weakly.

“When has there been a time when you haven’t gotten me out of a tight spot?” Dave joked. I knew he was referring to the countless times I had gotten him out of trouble at the principal’s office. I laughed.

“Yeah.” I agreed. Death Teddies started to go down with us. Following us. Trying to steal away our energy.

I saw Dave close his eyes. I decided to let him die peacefully. I stared at the ground that was coming dangerously close and the Death Teddies that were closing in. Good bye everyone. Tears trickled down from my face.

“Stop crying.” A voice called out. I looked around. It was Stephanie’s voice, but she wasn’t anywhere. I realized she was using hide. From where ever she was she used Dragon Roar. The Death Teddies all faded away as the wave of energy struck them.

“Hold onto Dave’s arm.” She commanded hurriedly. I did as I was told. I felt her hand brush against mine. I felt myself being pulled into the air. I held tightly onto Stephanie’s and Dave’s arms.

I felt a tingling sensation as Stephanie used Hide on us.

“Jenny took and Alex and went home. I’ll drop you off and drop Dave at the clinic.” Stephanie said.

“Ok.” I agreed. I stared down at the invisible Dave. Take care.

Stephanie dropped me off. I walked into the house. Alex was on the couch with Jenny over him healing him. He was unconscious.

“Hey.” She said not turning away.

“How is he?” I asked. “Need some help?”

“Sure.” She replied cheerfully. I went next to her and started using Heal, too. Alex’s wounds started healing faster. After a few minutes we were done.

“Want something to drink?” I asked walking to the fridge.

“Sure.” Jenny said sitting down on a chair. I grabbed two cans of Coke and handed one to her. She thanked me and took a sip of her drink.

I turned on the T.V. I was sure this event would be all over the news. I watched for a few minutes.

“Reports are flooding in that a giant crowd of strange ghost-like creatures appeared today downtown. Here is footage.” The announcer said. A clip of the Death Teddies attacking people. I flipped through the news stations. They were all the same. As I was about to turn off the T.V. one thing caught my eye.

“Many people at the scene also said they saw Angels mixed in with theses creatures.” An announcer said. They showed a few clips. The first one was of Jenny and me going into battle and the other one was of Stephanie flying in. It dawned to me. Hide doesn’t work on the mechanical eye?! This would be a problem. We would have to be more careful.

Thankfully the cameras were too far away for them to get good footage of us. I flipped through the channels. Quite a few of the news stations were showing these clips.

I changed the channel. I was about to change the channel when I saw a dark figure on the T.V. It was a child by the looks of its body, but the lights were dimmed so I couldn’t see the face. His voice was masked with a voice changer.

“What are these Angels? What are those creatures? Are the Angels some sort of messengers of some god? Are the creatures some sort of demons from Hell? We hope to answer these questions as time goes on. We are the Guiders. I am Roy. Their leader.” Roy proclaimed. Guiders? I had heard of them before. They were an investigation group. They were funded by the world’s richest people and solved different cases all over the world.

“To the Angels. Please stay away from these creatures. We need them for study. They might help us solve one of the world’s biggest problems: Death. If they are truly from some other place not of Earth we might be able to use them to achieve humanity’s greatest goal: survival. Anyone with any information please dial the number below.” Roy continued. These guys are crazy. Death is a part of life. With no more death the whole planet will be chaos. People will start doing crazy things they would never have dreamed of before. I turned off the T.V.

“Jenny. The other world wants to stay hidden, right? I mean if they wanted to be known they’d just show their-selves, right?” I asked.

“Yeah. I think so. I don’t really know what the other world wants right now.” Jenny replied. Hmmm……I can’t let them capture any monsters. I doubt they’d achieve their goal of no more death, but if they capture monsters they might discover the other world.

I thought about this for a while. Suddenly I heard crying. I turned to Jenny. Tears were sliding down her face.

“Jenny? Are you ok?” I quietly asked.

“I’m sorry for making you worried. I just can’t believe I’m finally free or as free as I’ll get.” She cried. She fell to her knees. I sat next to her.

“In the other world GMs used to come and go as they pleased. They kept peace in the other world. But then some of the people started rebelling against the GMs. They said we were tyrants and should all die. The GMs retreated to the Maple realm. GMs never returned to the other world. But at the time when the GMs fled to the Maple realm some of us were caught. I was one of them. They kept us hostage. As long as they had us hostage Wizet would never destroy their world. Many of us died as we were horribly abused. I’m probably the last one alive they have under control.” Jenny cried as she told her tale. I slowly wrapped my arms around her trying to comfort her.

“They would do so many horrible things to me. Every night I was so scared to even sleep incase they wanted to do some other things to me. Alex was my guard. One night after the guard that was on duty before him was torturing me he talked to me. He asked me if I wanted to escape. I was scared he might betray me, but I decided to go along with him. So he let me go and we both fled. We successfully reached the Maple realm. I hoped we were safe there, but I wasn’t.” Jenny went on. She pulled down the front part of the shirt I had given her. A little below her neck there was a symbol. It was a circle with three lines crossing into it.

“In the other world. The ruler of it has an iron chain. On it is the same symbol as the one on my body. As long as he has it he can kill me any time. So Wizet won’t destroy their world because if the chain is destroyed I’ll die. Wizet won’t let any of his GMs die. But also this symbol will slowly kill me if I stay in the Maple realm so I came here.” Jenny finished her story. She continued to cry.

“Jenny…” I whispered softly. I brought her closer and held her there.

“I won’t let you be hurt ever again. One of these days I’ll set you free for real. You won’t have to be afraid of dying at any time.” I whispered.

“Alan…..” Jenny sobbed. She dug her face into my chest and cried.

“I’m home!” Stephanie shouted as she banged the door close. Jenny and I acted like we didn’t notice.

Stephanie slowly walked into the living room. I looked up. Her face looked like it was about to burst from laughter. She held it in and walked off. She’ll talk about this for days….

  1. Er. . . Thousands of DT getting OHKO’ed is sort of far fetched? But this is not the Maple Realm, so I guess it is explainable.

  2. Excellent story! Is Dave dead or is he just healing at the hospital? I liked him. . . also who’s Stephanie?
