Lvl 35 : Worst. Level. Evar.

A few days ago, my friend lvled to lvl 36. We’ve both now agreed that lvl 35 is cursed for spearmen. For him, it just took a long time. For me…

I’d just lvled to 35, after i hard day of training and looking forward to my new kit. I decided not to train the rest of that day, just have fun with my friends. Next day, after school, i decided to train for a while. I had gotten to about 5%, then i died. Screw it, i thought, i can’t be bothered today. Next day, i decided to pursue my sauna robe. I went to the dungeon trainiing map, full of curse eyes and lupins. I killed stuff for a while, and at 7%, i died. This continued for a while. Two weeks had passed, and still at 0%! I decided to knuckle down in burnt land.

Of course, due to the lack of morale, I trained slowly, and after about 3 days of on and off training, I had gotten to 70%. Surprise, surprise, I died. After hours (well, it SEEMED like hours) of training, i was back at 69%. I died. AGAIN. I was now extremely annoyed, and not concentrating, I died again at 63%. This continued til i got to about 50%. I was now thoroughly annoyed, and left lvling for a few days.

About half a week later, i resumed leveling. I was extremely careful, and I seemed sure to level soon. It seemed too good to be true. It was. At 99.50%, i died.

I challenge you to tell me a true story of lvling worse than that. It’s hard to beat >_<

  1. My archer when he was lvl 23 i went thru heck and back i was 70% and i died -_- then i trained again and got back to 70% and died again so i decided to go to wild boars died 4-5 times i was so mad i was stuck at lvl 23 for about 3 months i was sooo mad then i started my mage cuz i was tired of dieing and on my mage ive only died once

    EDIT: Beat that! lol

  2. My cursed level was level 33. It took me 2 months just to train because everytime I was starting to get above 20% exp I would die. I eventually got passed it and I am now level 39, but it is just that it took so long for me to get a little amount of exp without dieing.

  3. no such thing as cursed lvl. it just means that ur uncareful at that period of time =.=

  4. O.o I’m lvl 34 spearman, I’ll have to watch out! I have charms and such though, so exp loss won’t be that big of a deal. My tale is of trying to level my friend so he could PQ with us, from 19 to 21 in a few scant hours. We decided to get some quest items along the way, so detoured north into the Dungeon from Henesys, except we could not make it! My friend was following me too closely, and every /single/ time I went through the warning street, I fell in the /same/ pit where 3 stone golems, a bunch of lupins, and iron hogs had spawned. Now, I can’t kill all those yet, but they can’t kill me any longer either. Sadly, my magician friend died on impact. After this happened 4 or more times, I came across the bright idea of scrolling where we were going.

  5. You should be more careful when training. Bring along enough potions to keep you alive and don’t let your HP go down too low. My rule of thumb is to leave enough HP so the monster can hit me 4 times without dying. That way, I’ll have enough time to spam the potion hotkey.

This policy has led me to not die for a while now, I haven’t died in MapleStory since my second character (not that it makes you feel any better). Good luck with your spearman; I’m in the same boat you’re in right now. Level 35-40 Spearmen are supposed to be tough to train, but we’ll get through it.

Did you ever think about Party Questing? o.o

Overall, this has to be a really bad case of death syndrome. Well, at least you leveled. Keep leveling, so we can see more of this kind of stuff.

Oh, by the way, Please take the time to help improve your literacy. =P It’s not hard.

  7. haha. I have you all beat. for the simple reason that i was a higher lvl and the expeirence loss i feel is far greater.

i became lvl 43. (i/l mage) and was on a roll doing eveyr new quest i have gotten. (the minute i become any lvl ending with a multiple of 5, i do all the quests i get if i can)

anyway. so i’m on a roll. i went to ludi and did every single quest doable at that lvl. (basically every ludi quest there is)

then i went to orbis. and did every quest there. namely, chaos behind alfonse green and nependeath juice. O-o this is where everything goes to heck

so i got like 45% under my belt. and then i die trying to collect some of the crazy stuff they want. star pixie wathever thingies. my killers are mostly always the nependeath though. i reach the point where i lost all the xp i got from all the ludi quests. O_o that’s right. i’m down to ZERO. but FINE! i don’t care. that was ONE thing.but its another thing entirely when i continue to die over and over again STAYING AT ZERO. every time i made some progress, (between 5-8%) i died every time. going back down. over and over and over again.

    i’m not lying. i remember quite clearly. but i litterally, died over 18 times at lvl 43. ;_;

even after i did what i could with the nependeath quest. i went back to victoria. to get the other items. (bannas, coconuts). i got bored and went to curse eye’s to try to find the deed again. (after a whole week of failure looking for the deed) and i died 3 more times by curse eye. O_o once at 60% then at 55% and then at 70%.

for those of you wondering, i don’t use magic guard because i don’t buy blue pots. waste of money. i can recover all 2500++ of my mp in under 2 minutes so i have no need to. instead i just buy 200 white pots when i run out. that’s how i made profits in curse eyes. but also why i died so much lol. i mean think about it. my total hp is like 500. and a dark nependeath does like 200 on me. O_o seirously.

anyway. so i finally lvl’ed which was great. nowi’m 44. i’m happy. but i’ll never forget the time i died about 20+ times. if i never died at all, i’d be lvl 45 + at least 10% for sure. SERIOUSLY! that’s how much i died.

  8. , if you were an Ice lightning mage in the mid 40’s it’d be cursed. when my I/L mage was starting from, level 40 it took me 3 weeks to gain ONE, thats right, ONE level. I was so so mad, so you know I went off pqing to gain my level, lil bit of missing lil bit of getting in, after a few more months/weeks, I finally hit, level 50, I was so glad but, I’m current level 50 almost 51 and it took me again 3 weeks T_T

  9. i was thinking of making up a story like i was lvl 48 and died millions of times at 90% so like u would still be at 0

  10. OMG! That really sucks. I’m not one to believe in jinxing or karma, but try to hunt easier monsters like mushrooms or regular boars, things that really don’t hit that much on you. Better luck next time, I guess.
