Prologue

I got no name yet!

Tobi pulled down the slyly concealed handle attached to the gigantic statue of an assassin. The handle clicked into place slowly revealing a hidden door in the wall. A timer appeared in place counting down from 10. Swiftly, Tobi walked in and watched the timer count down to zero. Behind him the door clicked shut just as Tobi turned around.

A silhouette hid in the distance watching Tobi’s every movement. Shadow, the silhouette in question, smirked inwardly. To none but the keenest eyes, he was virtually invisible. Using his newly acquired skill, simulate, he simulated a simultaneous warper. Simulate, was a skill favoured by many assassins, bandits and particularly recon jobs. Simulate allowed the user, in this case, Shadow, to simulate an object designed by the scientists in the Enhanced Tech Lab back at Teshiro Headquarters. Currently, only three things could be simulated, a simultaneous warper, provisions and a sleek weapon that was designed to look like a hard cover book.

Simultaneous warpers were rare in the world of Maplestory. Only 4 existed, 2 given to the most experienced individuals, one being Shadow and the other being another mysterious female Shadow hadn’t met or seen. These warpers, were used to instantly transfer someone to where the other remaining warper is placed.

With the simultaneous warper in hand, Shadow, pushed the red button, flung it onto the floor, in a way that produced no sound, ran forward, leapt onto the simultaneous warper and picking it up at the last second.

Walking out of bushes, Shadow stared in awe at Teshiro Headquarters. It was a building made of high technology. The actual building was only as tall as a normal apartment building and as wide as a regular house but in reality, the inside was a few hundred times bigger. The building was cleverly disguised as a business building, even though it was in the outskirts of Ellinia. Barely anyone noticed it, as it was like part of the background, faded away.

As inconspicuously as he could, Shadow approached the building, walked inside and slid off to the side door, waving a security pass, he sliced it into the machine and the door automatically opened. Slowly walking in, the doors closed. Shadow was told of the technological advances in the construction of the new 5 Dimension buildings many times yet he was still in amazement of the possibility of this technology. The headquarter portion, was hidden discreetly in the 5th dimension, away from all foe and enemy. Tobi, was one of them.

A bead of sweat drifted down Shadow’s face meeting the cool air condition inside the 5th dimension building. Unexpectedly, Shadow received a flashback, a terrible one.

Light spilt all over the ground. Flames greedily licking at the air, engulfing all the buildings. Shadow recalls himself running away from his family, with his sister crying in the distance.

“Save yourself Shadow!” cried out his father.

There he ran, along side his mother, oblivious to the archers hidden in the trees. The archers showered his mother and himself with arrows. Luckily, Shadow got past. Unluckily, his mother was struck down, with her last words being: “Go save yourself son! Make us proud”

Shadow shook his head and snapped out of the flashback. He began to walk to officer Markus’s room. Fate had not meant to be what it was, thought Shadow. He was doomed to live his life reflecting his dreadful flashbacks, silently killing him.

  1. Wow, pretty good. I hadn’t expected this quality of work on MMO Tales, to be honest. Keep it up ^^
