So.. the day has finally come. Nexon, the original creators, have bought out MapleStory Global from Wizet. Why, you ask? Well, Nexon is the parent company of the game of MapleStory. It was only a matter of time, with all the cash that Wizet was raking in from this.

Here’s a statement from the good folks over at Nexon themselves:

Greetings Maplers!

Thank you for all your suggestions and kind words of praise. We are thrilled that so many of you have taken the time to express your love for MapleStory! We can?t thank you enough for your support.

I must admit that we have found the massive interest in MapleStory a bit overwhelming. With just word of mouth alone, we have grown to numbers comparable to some of the biggest MMOs out there!

That being said, we want you to know that we have been listening. You have asked for many things and we have heard you loud and clear! In response to your requests, and the increasing popularity of MapleStory, I am here to announce that we have committed to providing the best MapleStory experience possible..

Over the last few weeks, we have been rapidly increasing staff, training and developing new tools to better service our wonderful community of players.

Look for more details to come; but for now, here is a quick taste of what is in the works.

Tons of forum changes

Improved Website
Hacking no tolerance policy

What does this mean for you? For most of you, it means: Fun! Fun! FUN! But most importantly, an even better MapleStory experience!

However, for others, it means an end. It means an end to hacking, and end to community standards violations and end to our tolerance for those who wish to disrupt your gaming experience. Examples are going to be made, and it will be noticeable.

Today marks the first of many announcements to come. Some of these announcements will blow your socks off, and many will surely raise some eyebrows. Today is the beginning of a new MapleStory. Your MapleStory!

What does this mean to you..? Less hackers! Just by the way the page is laid out, I can tell this change was mostly because of MapleGlobal’s massive infestation of hackers.

But, this is indeed, a good thing! Sure, you can complain about the new website layout, or the way the Nexon screen now pops up. But, I believe, that this is a step in the right direction. Nexon is the company that oversees our lovely predecessors, Korea, China, Japan.. and all the others. I don’t believe that Wizet has been completely booted either, I think that the game just got big enough and so overrun with hackers that Nexon decided to lend a helping hand.

This is good news! With more mods, there will be less hackers. This is a big move in which, if done properly, they can take out a very substanial portion of the hacking society. With more help from Nexon, it will make MapleStory a better place, with more new things. I’m supporting this decision fully, so rock on, Nexon, rock on. Please post your opinions, good or bad.
