I give up.

I finally gave into peer pressure and signed up for one of these things. Actually, no one pressured me into getting one, but I’ll blame my peers anyway. Really, I suppose boredom and the need to talk to others from Maple out-of-game got to me. BUT, WHO CARES?

Anyway, as for what to write:

I’ve read quite a few blogs from numerous people. I keep running into the same things. There seems to be a decent number of people that know their grammar and spelling rules, but I see the occasional rebel that sticks it to the man by not adhering to them…and posts something incredibly dumb while they’re at it. TAKE THAT, UNCLE SAM.

Then, I see an overload of people writing their own “Maple Stories” (haha pun ). I’m all for creative expression and all that jazz, what with being a writer myself, but something about the things they write annoys me. Maybe it’s the way they try to be all dramatic and make their words paint an elaborate picture. It all feels so forced. IF YOUR WORDS CAN’T FLOW ON THEIR OWN, WRITE SOMETHING THAT’S A LITTLE MORE ON YOUR LEVEL. Is the use of random caps getting on anyone’s nerves? If it is, get over yourself. No one said you had to read this. CAPS LOCK MAKES ME FEEL BETTER. Not really, but I’m off-topic here…

And I’ve noticed a sudden comic craze. Again, I enjoy creative expression and comics and such, but the false advertisement is wearing on me. By that I mean, the people that make these comics normally advertise them as being “funny”, then I click on them and read them…I read them quite a few times, trying to find the humor in it. I don’t find it. Then, I read the comments and, for the most part, I see: “omg lolololol roflmao ur funi dood plz make mor XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD”. So then, I start feeling like a douchebag because I don’t share the same sense of humor as them. Am I allowed to say “douchebag” here? I read the rules (like a nerd) and I didn’t see anything about not being allowed to say it or any other minor “inappropriate” words. Anyway, I’m not a comic or “lol mak ur own maple story” person. So, I guess I’m just left to rant about stuff, and if I ever need a good laugh, I could always make a “lookn 4 ingame bf” one. Those always make me laugh…yet cry on the inside for those poor girls (or boys. Their preference is none of our business though.)

Do I seem mean? Reading over this, I suddeny feel mean for criticizing some stories and comics and etc. Also, do I come across as “pompous” or anything? I just feel like I do. SOMEONE REASSURE ME. I obviously don’t have anything else to say at the moment, but I can’t stop typing. Or maybe I can.

  1. Nah, half the comics suck, half of the stories might be good writing but are too boring, I mean they are about a 2d game, half of it is what they think its like. Good use of parentheses! lol

lol i wanted to say this for the longest time but i was afraid of ppl flaming me, this seems like the right blog tho, so

    ITS JUST A GAME!
    A ONLINE, 2-D, VIDEO GAME!
You don’t need to kill yourself because you got ksed by a whole guild, or dropped your ‘Godly Scarab’ by accident.
Its not the end of the world!
    Get over it!
And for ppl who want to kill me because Maple is their life, or for anyone who keeps making Tiger blogs,
    It’s just a game!

  3. No, it’s not just you. Sometimes, I look at those comics and see the comments like that too. I’m like “0.o what!?!? How is that funny?” You’re just more bold at saying things than I am. =D

  4. *blinks* Whoo, it almost seems like a fierce blind sheep contest on both sides!

I have to agree with you on this one, Kamkam (mind if I call you that?) because alot of comics just aren’t funny, nor are the stories interesting and original. Now, I am also dissappointed about some of the people here, who instantly adhere to any story longer than three paragraphs long, no matter how ridiculous or illiterate it may be.

But it’s really refreshing to see someone here who doesn’t instantly fit into the mold and agree with everyone, and you do it (*gasp*) politely too! Kudos to you and welcome to MMOTales.

  5. I don’t agree with anyone here, usually.

People try to get popular, and then when they do, everyone sucks up to them. It’s sickening.

And I’ve written fanfiction for years. I didn’t have an idea for one at first, but when I came up with it, there is no category for Maple Story on ff.net, sadly. Even if there was I wouldn’t post it there, because that site is even more degrading than you think this one is.

Also, post a story of your own before you say that most of the stories on here suck. Have fun writing a fanfic about a game, if you have never tried it, it is pretty damn hard. There are a lot on in-game things that just don’t make sense when you write it as a story, and it makes coming up with good stories more difficult.

And, DUN DUN DUUUUN, most of the people who use the internet don’t know how to spell. OMG ORLY!?

Anyways, your criticism is a bit overbearing. So I replied with an equivalent comment.

Whoa, whoa. Let’s start with this “popular” comment. I didn’t come here for that. I came here for the same reason I’m assuming everyone else did: Just to have a place to get things out. EXPRESS MYSELF, IF YOU WILL. If I wanted to be popular, I’d go on Myspace, not a gaming blog. OH MY!

And I have written fanfiction based on a game. I never said it was easy, nor did I say that most of the fanfiction here sucks. Perhaps I should’ve watched my wording, but I didn’t mean it that way, if that’s how it sounded.

However, I didn’t write it for you to agree or disagree. Like I said, I came to express myself, like everyone else here. I’m entitled to my opinion, and if you can’t respect that, I suggest you don’t read anything else I ever post on this site. Unfortunately, I like abusing that constitutional right when I get the chance. I hope you’re from America, otherwise that was a waste.

I realize that you were trying to prove a point by using “my own thing against me”, but in this case, that doesn’t do anything but stir people up. And that’s no fun for either of us

I was actually afraid of being flamed too. Alas, I got a form of it! Still, you should never be afraid to speak your mind, but you should always be aware of the fact that there’s a time, place, and way to say it 😀

Word to that, man. And, I think it was this last year I spent in my English class, reading every book that has ever been written on anti-conformity, that made me actually have or voice my opinion. Before that, I either kept it to myself or I didn’t care enough to say anything for or against. Also, thanks for the welcome, the nickname, and the kudos

  8. Welcome to MMOTales! Just thought I’d put that first.

But let’s not start off the deep end. No one’s assuming you’re trying to become popular; I think that was just a general comment on Vicelin’s part (feel free to correct me if I’m wrong?). However, I’m actually with you on the score that a lot of the fanfiction on this site is written by pseudo-illiterate adolescents trying to understand ‘love’ when they’ve never been in love, or something similar. The comics are, for the most part, the same deal: pictures with the sense of humour a blind chicken would find funny, but not many others.

Ah, the infamous ‘right to free speech’. xD

Anyway, with that explosive start, hope to see more of your rants. Hurrah!

  9. here are my thoughts-

    ~i dont write for popularity. it helps me calm down and have fun. it’s my pleasure. people who right for the “i like’s– its uselesss. = = ;;
~i agree with most things up there x_x

    ~jf~

  10. i have to agree with the comics and other ss out there
i fail to see the humour in them -_- if there is any at all
and no, your not mean, this is your way of letting others know what you think

  11. I won’t side with you, or with story/comic writers. I side with no one.

Your side: you have a point, but then I’d be against the story writers’ side and you were a bit harsh.
Comic writers’ side: no, because a lot of comics are idiotic. But some aren’t. And I like being appreciative. I don’t flame.
Vicelin’s side: no, I’m not siding with her because her comment was harsh too =.=

o_O that pretty much sums up what I have to say.

  12. Hah, I know my comment was harsh. But I wasn’t going to sugar coat it for you, since your entire post honestly sickened me.

I still fail to see the logic in posting a rant about the website that you just willingly joined, also putting rather bluntly that you despise a large ammount of its populace. You act like you have never been to an online community before.

Think about the people who you know will be reading this stuff before you post it. It’s like trying to sell vegetables at a meat convention. (Do meat conventions even exist?)

  13. Okay, you’re really putting words in my mouth, my fingers, rather. I never said I “despised” anyone. I never generalized a group of people. I only pointed out some things I noticed in certain genres.

Honestly, I’m beginning to feel that you have a beef with me. If you feel like maybe that whole post was a personal attack at you, it wasn’t. I meant no disrespect, and I’m directing this at anyone who may have been hurt by what I said. I can’t apologize anymore, and I don’t see why I should have to when I was only saying how I feel about a certain subject. Do you do this to everyone? Also, I said at the end of my post that it felt a bit mean to me. LOL DISCLAIMER OF SOME SORT. Still, you don’t have to be so rude. And to this last line, I feel like you’re going to say, “Neither did you when you made that post”

Oh, one last thing: I did think about who would be reading it before I posted it. The thing is, some people take things differently, and I can’t be held responsible for every person that feels offended by my words, nor should I have to edit myself so that everyone is happy.

So, I’m sorry that you feel so sickened by what I had to say. Perhaps you should take some medicine and lie down.

Okay, this is the last thing, really: I’m pretty sure meat conventions don’t exist. ALSO, DO YOU BEAR NO ILL WILL TOWARDS ME OR THE OTHER PEOPLE THAT AGREED? THAT WOULD BE COOL.

  14. I never said I hated you ^_^ only your post.

No, I have never reacted like this to any other post before.

If you had actually submitted a blog before this one, I might have posted with a little bit more respect, knowing that you have been here for a while and have interacted within the community.

But this being the first thing you have ever posted, I feel that you have absolutely no reason to be ranting about a site that, hell knows, you might have joined yesterday.

And no thanks, I don’t like medicine. I’m not really getting worked up over this at all. I’m a pretty laid-back person, usually.

And I found a meat convention. link .
