A Ranting Kitten

😮 That’s right. Kittens can rant. At least this one can…
This is a rant against those people who are so cruel as to ‘flame’ a blog for not having proper grammar. To be blatant; it’s cruel.

This is for you, you bloody blog critics. <3

There is no rule in MMOtales (in my knowledge) that requires your blog to have 100% perfect grammar. As long as the blog is understandable and MMO-related, does it really matter if the grammar isn’t up to your standards? If you can’t understand the blog (for instance, if the blog is completely 1337), then should you really be reading it in the first place? Furthermore, why waste the time making a cruel comment?

If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

Sure, we have the right of free speech and expressing our opinions, but we also have the option to not use it in certain situations. No, let me rephrase that. We should have the maturity to not use it, according to the situation. The time you waste typing up an unnecessary comment about the ‘pitiful grammar’ is the same amount of time it would take to click the ‘back’ button on your browser, or find another, more suitable blog.

There have been many times when I’ve seen absolutely beautiful blogs, with wonderful grammar; however, they had absolutely nothing to do with any MMO. Regardless, the blog received many likes, and several people made very kind comments.

Then I saw another blog. The grammar within the blog wasn’t perfect, but it was clear, readable, and understandable. The blog had everything to do with an MMO. There were 0 likes in the blog, and at least 10 people had taken the time to flame the grammar in the blog.

As I sat in front of my computer, I said aloud: “Wow. So proper grammar and literacy makes it perfectly okay to break the rules.” I stopped myself from making a comment about hypocrites. >_>

Earlier this morning, I saw a MMO-related story. The story itself was pretty humorous, but the grammar wasn’t the best in the world. Fenrir, (and I really hate to use names ><) made a ‘not-so-very-nice’ comment. It really disappointed me. I had looked past all of the grammar mistakes and read the blog all the way through. Besides the grammar, the story was pretty good. It gave me a laugh. I gave the blog a like and made a comment about how I liked the story.

Later, when I came back and checked on the blog, I saw that Fenrir had posted another comment: “Scratch that first comment I made earlier. I read the first paragraph and then commented. Now I read the rest…” Something along the lines of that; I really can’t remember. I was so shocked that Fenrir was mature enough to come back and make that comment.I was so proud that I couldn’t think of what to say.

Fenrir, you have my respect. You are totally deserving of it, and I comment you for that second comment you made. There should be more people like you out there.

All I’m trying to say is this: Instead of making cruel remarks about someone’s grammar, why not just encourage them to improve?

Why say “This grammar hurts me eyes, YOU SUCK!!!” when you could say something more like, “This is a pretty good blog, but try harder with the grammar next time.”

Don’t just judge a blog by it’s grammar. No one is perfect. Read the blog. Judge the blog by what it’s about, and let grammar be the second thing you worry about.

For those of you that are under the impression that I want MMO to become some sort of illiterate paradise… I don’t. But grammar-flaming isn’t exactly going to keep MMO peaceful either, right?

But enough about that. Let’s more onto the

maple related

part of this blog, shall we? 😀

I decided I was going to leave Victoria Island. ;-; I went to Orbis with Pat, and we played around in the tower. 😀 Then we collected sentinel thingies for Huck’s quest. After being coughed on by huck about 987589237575 times (x.o), we got our scrolls. Then we raced down the tower.

Pat won, of course. *f3*

We got to El Nath and pulled out our snowboards. Then we proceeded to slide down the icy hills while holding our snowboards and bragging about our “TTLY PWNZORING LEET SNOWBOARDING SKILLZ”. xP It was pretty awesome. Then he convinced me to go to Aqualand. I went, then remembered that I had homework, so we said our goodbyes and I left.

The next day, Pat wasn’t on for some reason. o.O So there I was in Aqua, all alone. I explored and got killed by a giant fish skeleton thingamabobber. >:O So I decided I hated Aqua, and I went back to Nath. I explored, and found me way to the dead mines, or whatever they’re called. Then I went back out, only to be killed by a Penguin riding a giant snowmonster. ;~; Ghey.

So I decided I hate Nath, too. So I used one of my Orbis scrolls to go back to Orbis. I explored around there, until I got killed by evil black kitties with bat wings for ears. o_O All I did was try to attack it, and he called all his homies on me! Dx I mean, SHEESH.

*cough* I’m noticing a pattern about all non-Victoria Island places… >_>

I was just about to decide that I hated Orbis completely when Jimmy logged on. Jimmy was in Orbis. 😮 So I stalked him, and we played around, and he showed off his avenger and shadow parner. So I challenged him to a mini-KS-war at the fat-witch-hat things that shoot stars. ><;;;

I killed 2/5 and TOTALLY earned bragging rights! xP After a while, Jimmy left. Then Winky came to visit me. 😮 Also, James (Shaddap) showed me his oh-so-cute cowboy NX outfit. x3

Then Drew (guildmaster, good friend) came to visit me. =O So we joked around, and raced to level 10 of the tower. Winky won because she has teleport. ;-;’ So we went into the Huck’s Quest room and stayed in there. Then somehow, we ended up telling secrets. Winky went AFK, so it was just me and Drew. I admitted that Eric and I weren’t at the same level anymore. (not literally, I mean relationship wise. ><) I also admitted that I was planning on breaking up with him. ;-; Yup.

Surprisingly, Drew was okay with this. (Considering that Drew was the one that had paid for the wedding and the crush ring, I was surprised that he didn’t get mad… But then again, Drew’s a great guy. :D) Now the only problem I have is breaking the news to Clark. (Eric’s cousin, level 107 white knight, and a good friend also…) Eh. I’ll figure something out. ._. I always do.

Then Drew gave me 10mil. O_O That’s the MOST mesos I’ve EVER had throughout my ENTIRE MS life. o.0 I felt so spoon-fed that I almost refused to take it. >_> Almost. =D Now I can afford steelys. Bwahaha~! >:3

Well, I think that’s about it. o-O G’BYE~!

  1. I gave you the like for the maple-related part not the rant

    i only agree somewhat

as long as it’s legible that’s what counts

    i don’t care about grammar

if i did that’d make me a hypocrite because i don’t even use periods

    but

    to address some things

Kitten said: ” If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. “

i agree 100% but sadly that doesn’t apply here IMO

alter’s [BrokenImages,AlterOfGod] comments are the kind of commenst this applies to

flaming for stupid reasons or because he doesn’t exactly agree with it

but the grammar comments are what i consider criticism

not everyone may agree but that’s what i think

in most cases they are warned that leet and such are frowned upon

they don’t listen after writing tons of borderline spam blogs and that’s where the mean comments some in

reading is a light form of entertainment so why should i struggle horribly reading it?

letting one pass by equals people believing it’s okay and soon everyone is “leeting” up the place

This just proves what i was saying earlier

i refuse to “like” non-MMO blogs now (i’ve been like this for quite some time)

    Why?

because when one blogs gets in newcomers to MMOT see it and think: “woah i can post irrelevant crap here”

    which leads to more

    it’s a cycle

aww crap i started to ramble now

i lost everything i was gonna say XP

well that’s my opinion up to that point

  2. I agree with Waffle .

    [ABOUT THE FLAMINGG PARRTTTTT]

I’ve had my part in this .

    -guilty-

    You have a point .

    [about the maple part]

You decided to explore the more dangerous parts of El Nath, Orbis and Aqua Road .

    Not very wise . >.>

  3. That’s what I mean. ._. People flame instead of trying to help. But ynur opinion still rocks, Waffle. xP

  4. Of course though you made very good points too kitten

    [‘Kitten’ obtains (Bronze Waffle Award)x1]

Keep doing amazing things and you could win the coveted “Golden Waffle” award

only 4 people have earned it to date =)

  5. o.x Will I get in trouble for sticking it in the toaster and then drowning it in maplestory (xD) syrup for breakfast? ;-;

  6. MasterCheeze said: “MasterCheeze said: “o_o you like that face huh? o.o how about that one? 0.o or this? 0_o or even this? or you can just mix it up o_0 o.0 so many faces

    ~Cheezy <(‘.'<) I’ll just stick with Kirby.”
Yah, what he said. Wait a second, that’s me! I quoted myself! Rejoice civilians because I have found out the secret to eternal life!

    ~Cheezy”

Yah, what he said. And Waffle, was I one of the 4 (well 5 now I guess) that won a Golden Waffle? I hope it was me.

    ~Cheezy

  7. I agree, but it DOES hurt people’s eyes when paragraphs are not separated and the grammar lacks.

    Mabey YOU Human!

Kitten, YOU ROCK! I love the way you say things and don’t leave me despising the people that do such things! In fact, it makes me want to do more good things on this small, yet loveable website! ^_^
And is sound SO NICE the way you talk! ^_^
Well, yes, I mostly agree. And if I said any thing wrong, please warn me. I hate upseting people. T.T
And I’ve done regretable things on MMOTales once before, so the flames of people are very meaningfull to me.
‘Likeing my Blogs’ so they’d get on the front screen.
Sorry. . . I feel so dumb now.
BUT this was back at my new days of MMOTales, not now-a-days! ^_^

  9. Mmm, but correct grammar and spelling help convey someone’s opinions and thoughts. Still, i suppose it is weak to criticise a blog that has near-perfect spelling and grammar. I just hate it when people don’t even attempt to type English correctly.
