Chapter 4: City of Thieves: Alex’s Ques

“Reach for my hand, Andre!” Jinxiy screamed as she laid down on her stomach, stretching her arm out as far as possible to his.

“Jinxiy, if I fall.. just go on without me.” he grunted out, trying to reach up with his free hand; the other holding steady on the rock that was holding him up from certain death.

“Don’t talk like that! Come on! I’ve almost got you.. Can you stretch any further? At all?” she asked scooting her body closer to the ledge, risking her own life to save his.

“No. I don’t think I can.” he replied as he felt his hand being held on to.

“Ok! I’m going to need you to put your feet against the mountain side and try to walk while I pull you!” she exclaimed as she began to pull her own self up to her feet. There was a great struggle at that point; her pulling him, and him trying to walk up to her at the same time. But somehow..some way… Jinx managed to pull back enough to fall backwards. Andre laid on top of her for a moment, collapsed under the strain of the past moment’s events.

The two of them stared in to each other’s eyes for a moment before it happened. Their first real kiss. At least from what she could recall.. Instantly, as their lips met, her cheeks became blushed. It was sweet though.. caused her heart to start beating in a way she’d never thought possible. They remained that way for a few more minutes before the mage stood up.

Andre offered his hand down to her, she took it and stood up. “Thanks.” he said turning his head away from her, and towards the west.. “We’ll be in Kerning soon.” he said, trying to shake off the previous moment’s still lingering in his thoughts.

Jinxiy bit down on her bottom lip as she raised the mallet up, resting it against her shoulder. “Kerning? That’s the thief town, right?” she asked as she began to descend down the beaten path from the main road-way the two of them were on.

“Yes. When we get there stick close to me and don’t talk to any body. These people would rather rip you off than smile at you..” he said, dusting his hands across the front of his robe.

The two of them traveled the rest of the morning away until they reached the abandoned construction site leading in to Kerning City. This place was flooded with monsters.. And the two of them stood amazed before they began ripping in to them. It wasn’t as easy as they’d hoped for.. But with the power of both of them on each monster in their path.. they monsters were no match.

Soon the beat up pair stepped in to the city; they felt eyes on them. Andre threw his arm around Jinxiy’s shoulder, “It’ll be alright. I’m right here.” he reassured her as they began walking through the dingy and old streets. A few people were passed by on one of the main streets; off in the distance the fading echoing of screams.. someone must have took a wrong step some place; leading them in to certain death.. or worse.

Soon they reached Alex. “Hey.” the kid said. “Want to do me a favor?”

Jinxiy and Andre both looked to each other then back to Alex. “Sure.” each said.

Alex removed a letter from the inside of the pockets in his vest. “My dad is the chief of Henesys. Could you do me a favor and bring this to him? And bring back the golden watch he has… It was my mom’s and..well.. it’s just got some sentimental value.”

Andre took the letter, placing it in to a pocket of his robe before he nodded his head. “Alright. I suppose we can do that.” he’d looked to Jinxiy then, “To Henesys?” Jinxiy nodded.

  1. Not bad. I like the way you describe some things. A tad too many ellipses (. . . ) in some places; try to lose some of them, or else it would look as if you don’t know what to write. And I’m sure it isn’t like that. 😀

Looking forward to see more chapters.

  2. Its because I write the way I talk, and i take a long time between talking at times, Lol xD I’ll work on that, thanks!
