Been a long while since I last did this.

For a while I wrote lots on here and kept up, but eventually I got side tracked with other things and sidetracked away from MS too. I’ve gained a number of levels for almost all my characters and I continue my slow, but relatively steady climb towards the 2nd and 3rd job with every single class. I’ve moved up to Ludi PQing with Seress, Lithadur, and before I hit 51+, Thievyry. PrinceOfDogs just finished doing Kerning PQs. JinTheJin is high enough to start Kerning PQs, though I’ll wait a while before he does so. And though writing a blog about leveling is nice and all, I’ve decided to focus on a different subject.

The short version for those too lazy to read all the way: Stop complaing about Nexon and go play another game if it’s bothering you so much.

The long version:

Mainly what I wish to discuss is about those who seem to continually complain or find fault with Nexon. Now I know they’re not perfect, and they’ve made plenty of mistakes, but they are working on things. I’m getting rather tired of hearing every other person seeming to say something about how poorly they’re doing. I’ve been around since Bera first came out. Maybe not as long as some Beta and Scania vets, but still a good deal longer than a number of people. And I can say that there are more players now than there was back then. After all, I can recall when I could train on Bera Ch 1 outside of Perion, go into Perion and only see a few people at the max. Now with this large number of people, you have to agree that there will be more people who are going to be drawn to hacking as there is a larger percentage that for whatever reason, don’t wish to play the game legitly. Many criticize Nexon for letting it get out of control, but honestly I don’t think they are to blame. As they are a company, I’m sure they had a business plan in place based upon a certain number of people playing. Apparently they underestimated MS’s popularity and were unable to adjust the plan quickly enough. After all, having planned on only need x number of GMs for x number of players, and suddenly having only x number of GMs for 2x or more players is an entirely different game. This, combined with the relatively low profile that GMs have had, and continue to have for the most part, meant that many who had a passing notion to hack suddenly felt the invisible restraint of that was gone. This combined with many of the actual hackers releasing hacking tools to the general public essentially gave rise to new amounts of hacking. I’m sure I’m missing some of the other points that have led to the general increase in hacking, but that’s not all that important. Suffice to say, Nexon may have some blame in it, but some factors are beyond their control.

Anyway, though many continue to complain, if you consider the way things have been going, they have made improvements. The problem people have is they are impatient. They want everything done immediately, even though no company in the world can wave a magic wand and solve a problem like this right away. And I honestly wouldn’t want them to have such an ability either. It would require quite an invasion of privacy for that to work, and generally just not be a good thing. So what I’m going to do is wait and let them slowly work on the problem and improve the game. I’m not going to complain or worry about it, just report hackers when I see them, not pq with them when I meet them in those circumstances, and just generally try to enjoy the game. So for those that have trouble with doing that, go play some other game. No one is forcing you to play, and if you don’t enjoy it, why bother playing?

Also, for those that say x days were the golden days of MS, here’s a reality check for you all; The golden days are always in the past, and never as golden as you claim them to be. People like glossing over anything bad in the past and making everything seem perfect. I’m not saying now is the golden days, but people need to realize that such a thing does not exist except in a person’s memory. And I would add that I’m confident that Nexon will return us to some semblance of those so called golden days after a time. I don’t expect it to happen overnight and I’m willing to wait quite a while for it to happen, but I am sure it will happen because they are working on improving MS.

  1. I agree. Complaining ruins the fun for everyone. D;
    And besides, hackers can be fun if you make enough faces at them. And/or do other annoyingly random things to them.

  2. I like the long version better.

    But hey, people were meant to complain. You cheer for a few days when something comes out, then when a fault is found it immdiatly goes on the blacklist.

    Meh, one way of life.

  3. @cinnamon: Eh it wouldn’t be quite so bad if it didn’t seem like half of the people on SW or BM forums were complaining about it. As far as hackers go, most of the time if they’re not botting it up, they’ll change channel or move on when they see a legit from what I’ve seen training on one of my noob characters. Though one time I was really pissed off by this one “legit” who came into my channel and said, “Party me or I’ll report” “Please party”. Of course it was a lot less intelligeble than that when he typed it out and the moment he realized I was legit, he ran off. Bad enough having people complaing about it, it’s even worse when n00bs start thinking it’s fine to blackmail hackers for exp, items, etc. I also think that screws up the whole, “I’m legit” thing. I wouldn’t be surprised if a few bans that occured and were supposedly completely wrong had something to do with some player have a noob character on their account and them thinking it’d be a good way to lvl up or get some extra mesos/items, but they’re still “legit” since they weren’t the ones doing the hacking and they weren’t doing it on their main character. -_-;;

    @pirkid: Hahahaha well in the past I got complaints about some blogs being too long to read, so I figured I’d throw than in there. And yeah I know that, but I’m hoping that perhaps if a few people read my blog, there will be one or two less people that complain about that, and any time you write anything that changes people’s minds, it’s already been more than worthwhile in writing.
