Jech and the Ludibrium Crisis (Part 1)

As Jech stepped off the train from Orbis, he wondered if he should have even dragged his friends on this quest. They did agree though, as the bounty was quite substantial, including magical scrolls for their armor, and rare capes that would serve them in the coming months.

Their party consisted of Jech himself, with his trusty Cromi more powerful than an Evil Wings staff, Narthus, the Page, who refused to use a Lionfang or a Zard, and instead stuck with a Lionheart, but was also Jech’s mentor, Mortenus, the Spearman, and Jech’s bodyguard, Guytherus, the Cleric, a good friend of Mortenus, and also another one of Jech’s bodyguards, and then there were the two brothers Donveus the Assasin and Wiltrauss the Hunter. This is their adventure in Ludi….

As the letter Grendel the Old handed Jech had said…The people of Ludibrium are at war with the Undead Cronos, monsters that resided in the depths of the clock tower. Their leader Alishar had already taken over the upper floors of the EOS tower, where the Ludibrians kept all their valuable treasures. Alishar had not only launched an invasion of the EOS tower, but he was also trying to destroy the clock tower in Ludibrium town square from the inside. Grendel has assigned Jech and his band of mercenaries to confront Alishar, while the rest of the Victorian Army goes down to the depths of the tower.

As Jech and his party stepped off the train platform, they saw the armory packed with tons of people, and a long line stretching past the potion shop. The potion shop was also crowded, and past that Jech saw what he could not believe. The town looked like a war zone, with injured people being rushed to the tanning salon, which was now a temporary hospital. The clock tower looked like it was ready to fall at anytime, and many buildings in the village were burning uncontrollably. In the distance, Jech could see the Victorian Army fighting off monsters off the walls of Ludibrium.

As soon as they stepped down the stairs to the town square, a truck carrying supplies nearly knocked Jech over. Jech brushed it off as a mere accident. They took some supplies with them right before they had to meet the king. Donveus and Wiltrauss went back up the stairs to get in the line of the potion shop, and Narth went straight to the entrance of EOS tower to help with the resistance force there. Jech was left with only Mortenus and Guytherus as he went to visit the king in the battered castle near the village.

“Greetings young master Jech,” the battle-worn king said. “I take it Grendel sent you to take care of Alishar along with your companions.”

“Yes your Highness, we have also brought another regiment of troops from Victoria as you have requested. How are the supplies running to them?”

“Ah my dear boy, we are losing this battle slowly all the while. I’m planning to have my kingdom asylum in Orbis until we can straighten out our army. My people are factory workers, not trained soldiers.”

“Thats why you have me and our army. There is one more matter to be taken care of…” Jech was cut short by a scream from the castle entrance.

“They have taken us by suprise my lord!” someone yelled down the hall. Jech and the king drew there weapons. The king then tossed back his seat in the hall to reveal a hidden staircase.

“We should be able to escape through here…” His words wre cut short by an arrow that pierced him in the chest.

“NO!” Jech cried. As he grabbed the injured king, he saw the stairway filled with undead vikings grinning. Jech cursed and muttered, “This was a trap.”
