Dark days in El Nath (Prologue)

It was a chilly night, odd at this time of year when the most of the snow melted in the quiet, peaceful town of El Nath. Jech, a boy of 10 was sitting by the fire in the common room at the inn. His mother was busy talking to friends while knitting him a new scarf. All he could think about was if his father would make it out of the woods that night. It was believed that monsters such as zombies started to appear near the lumber mill, where his father worked. Most lumberjacks in El Nath only lived for about 5 years, then died or mysteriously dissapeared. But Jech’s father, a hardy man, had survived this perilous job for well over 30 years. They called him The Jack. And they called Jech Jack Jr., much to his annoyance.

The local gold mine was also a cause for disturbance. It was said that the village at the bottom offered sacrifices to the heathen god Zakum. People had said that the savages take miners and sacrifice them to Zakum for power. Sadly, zombies have also begun to appear near the mine.

That night would forever change the lives of the citezens of El Nath

  1. That was beautifully written. I just wish it was a little longer. However, I hope to see more of your work I can’t wait!
