Islander Guide. [ChatForum]

This guide is made for islander !
If you make one go to Windia and buddy me.

I must say that this guide is not written by me. I do not take any credit for it. It is written by Peeex of Bellocan and shall remain with full credits to him. I have asked CopyRight and he allowed me to post it here on Mmo.

The Skills

Beginners have 3 skills available to them, and can attain a maximum of 6 points to put into the skills. These 6 points can be saved and do not have to be used in later job advancements. However, you may only use these 6 skill points in beginner skills. In my opinion, you can’t mess up your points as none of the beginner skills are very useful anyways.

Three Snails:Throws a snail shell at a monster from a distance for a specific amount of damage. — Active —

Level 1: Snail Shell -1, MP -10; Deals 10 Damage
Level 2: Blue Snail Shell -1, MP -15; Deals 25 Damage
Level 3: Red Snail Shell -1, MP -20; Deals 40 Damage

In my opinion, the only somewhat useful beginner skill. Unlike recovery and nimble feet, three snails does not have a cooldown time. However, one cannot buy MP potions on Maple Island, so MP will run out very fast. Either max this or put one point into it. If you want to use it twice as much at the cost of four times less damage, put one point into it. If you would rather do 4 times the damage, but only be able to use it half the amount of times, max it for sure.

It is no longer unavoidable since patch 0.35 (I think 0.35)

Recovery:Recover HP over a period of 30 seconds. Cooldown time: 10 Minutes. — Supportive —

Level 1: MP -10; Recover HP 24 in 30 sec
Level 2: MP -20; Recover HP 48 in 30 sec
Level 3: MP -30; Recover HP 72 in 30 sec

In my opinion, the worst of the three skills. On maple island, mesos are worth nothing. Face it, there’s nothing to buy! You might as well spend it on a few potions. Two red potions, costing 100 mesos, heal 28 more HP than max recovery, and heal it instantly. You would never need to use recovery. I have found that before I lose 50 HP, I usually find a red potion from a monster, and therefore, will never need to buy pots and will never die. I didn’t put a single point in this, and I don’t regret it. It’s really a choice between this and Nimble Feet.

Nimble Feet: Increase your character’s speed for a short amount of time. Cooldown time: 15 Minutes. — Supportive —

Level 1: MP -10; Speed +10 for 4 sec
Level 2: MP -15; Speed +15 for 8 sec
Level 3: MP -20; Speed +20 for 12 sec

I maxed this. Just in case you do die and want to hurry back to your training grounds, or you quickly want to visit a friend at a location, Nimble Feet is useful. A sudden burst of speed really makes a difference when you have a maximum of 103% (white gomushins). I find it more useful than recovery, but it’s just a preference.

The Builds

Pure str build:
Ideal role: 13/4/4/4 (just make sure you have 10-13 strength to start off)

Just keep adding strength. If you didn’t miss the rose event, and you had a white rose at level 24, you would have 315ish max damage (if you didnt put any points into luk, dex and int, and started off with 10+ str). By the time your level 30 (major grats), you can do about 405ish damage, and impress all those noobs. With this build your min damage will be pretty low: (18-21 at level 24, 21-25 at lvl 30), but still you will 1hko mushies 85% of the time at lvl 30 (more than enough). The favourite and most common amongst the islanders

Capped Str and Luk build:
Ideal Role: x/4/4/x (as long as you have 4/4, 4/5, or 5/4 in dex and int)

This build centres around the idea of getting high numbers in damage, and at the same time, avoidability so you can train faster without using pots. Str is obviously for power, while luk is for avoid. After you can kill mushies about 80%+, add in some luk. I reccommend capping str at 125, so you will have about a 80% chance of 1hkoing orange shrooms with an average white rose. If you do not have access to such a weapon, then cap your strength later on, or sacrifice some damage for more avoidability. The rest of the points go into luk, and by level 30, snails and other easy monsters will miss you about 33% of the time. Believe me the damage adds up, so having some avoidability can be a lot more useful than more than enough strength.

Capped Str and Dex build:
Ideal Role: x/x/4/4 (again if you cant hit 4/4 with int and luk, just settle with 4/5 or 5/4)

This build is a cross between the pure str and pure dex build. With it, you will kill orange mushrooms in one hit more often than you would with the Capped str and luk build, and have more avoidability than the pure str build. I would not recommend it, however as the other two will make your time on maple island easier and more enjoyable than this. Unless you get to 4x, you will not be able to 1hko orange shrooms. I would recommend a maximum of 100 str, so you can at least have some minimum damage.

Pure Dex build:
Ideal role: 4/13/4/4 (as long as you have 10-13 dex your fine)

This build can be considered to be the ‘perfect build’ as it is the only build that allows you to 100% 1hko orange mushrooms. However, do not do this build if you cannot get your hands on a white rose. The problem about pure dex you will not be able to ever to 1hko an orange mushroom until level 26, where your attack range will be about 68-80 (with a 50 attack white rose). Don’t go this build if you cannot get a white rose or if your aim is to impress people on the island with your damage. Note: when going pure dex, you will not be able to use a purse.

MageLander:
Ideal role: x/4/x/x (no dex is required)

Hehe, I made up the name . In other words: the “Mage – Islander”. This build is strictly for the daredevils who attempt to build an islander using int and luk to use the Metal Wand at level 18. What’s so good about this build? Well have you ever seen a character on maple island that looks like a magician? I think not! Great build to ‘wow’ all the noobs on the island. For this build, just start off with 4 dex. Your str, int, and luk do not matter, all though it is preferable that you start off with higher strength to do a bit more damage. Keep adding points into str until you have 31 str. Therefore, you will just have enough points to make the requirement of a metal wand at level 18. After you get 31 str, get 20 luk, followed by 55 int. You will not be strong, you will level slowly, you will get bored easily, but you will look cool.

Choose the pure Str build if you want to see numbers as high as 450 in damage. If you dont care about max damage, the capped str and luk build will be the best. Pure dex if your obsessed with consistant damage. If you have already made an islander, and you want to try something different, but at the same time, a lot like your first islander, go for the MageLander build.

Avoidability: Dex versus Luk (Thank you NicolasJager for the information)

How much avoidability do you get from Dex and Luk? Which one should I apply points to for avoidability? Read on to find out:

Dex:
The equation for how much avoidability Dex gives is as follows:

Avoidability = 4 + 0.25(x – 8) whereas x >= 12 . If x is less than 12, then the avoidability will be 4 (assuming you only have 4 luk).

Luk:
The equation for how much avoidability Luk gives is as follows:

Avoidability = 4 + 0.5(x – 4) whereas x >= 8 . If x is less than 8, then the avoidability will be 4 (assuming you have 4 dex).

Conclusion

Luk gives about twice as much avoidability as dex. If you want your islander to be centred around avoidability, definately go luk so you can capitalize on your max damage, and only need to spend half the amount of points on avoidability. However, one of the main advantages of using dex for avoidability, is at the same time as getting avoidability, you get quite a bit of minimum and maximum damage. However, in order for the avoidability to be noticable, you might need about 100 luk (200 dex). At later levels, you will have so much hp, you won’t even need avoidability, but nevertheless, it is fun to see misses every other hit .

Sky Boards, and Maple Snowboards are also available, but I did not put them there because nobody will get to level 70 on the island to fulfill the Maple Board requirement, and they are so rare on the island now, that they are not worth their stats.

Equipment

Hats
Maple helms are the best hats that islanders are able to wield. However, they are un-tradeable and if you missed the event, you cannot acquire one until next year. They give a godly amount of defense for the island, with added ability points and even a tad bit of hp (and useless mp)
Independence day hats still circulate amongst the islander worlds, and they follow maple helms in stats. They give an average of 10 weapon defense (8-12) as well as a bit of jump (1-3). Magic defense of course does not make any difference on the island.
6 defense green headbands are the best non-event islander hats, and my personal favourite (I like the traditional islander look). You should be able to find one from a green snail sooner or later, they’re not so rare, just uncommon.
Any other headband or skull cap will do. People say that red is the best one because of its unique accuracy stat, but again, no islander needs any accuracy on the island.

For extra defense, there are 10% helmet defense scrolls dropped from green snails.

Top
Blue One-lined T-Shirt (M), or Red-Striped T-Shirt (F) are the best tops on the island. Both are found from blue snails, except the female shirt is very uncommon to find, unlike the male shirt which seems to drop extremely often. Both are 11 defense average (9-13), although it isn’t to difficult to find one 12-13 defense.
You can also use the starting shirt although they give practically no defense. Not much choice for top.

Bottom
Icy jeans are the best pants. Nice and tight fitting too and great to show off your characters legs . Rare drop by shrooms that has an average of 13 defense (11-15) and an average of 3 useless mp (2-4). Don’t fret if your in your 2x levels and still don’t have a pair, they are easy to replace and extremely difficult to obtain at early levels. Both for males and females. However, they have a required level of 16, which can be somewhat frustrating for those who have no patience…
The best alternative to icy jeans are the Grey Thick Sweat Pants (M). Sorry girls, but your going to have to settle for the starting bottoms if you can’t acquire those hot Icy jeans. Sweat pants have an average of 10 defense (8-12) and are very close to the stats of icy jeans. Dropped by blue snails, and not too rare.
The last alternative is Blue ClamDigger’s (M) (again males only). Average of 5 defense (4-6) and are dropped by shrooms. Not a very big difference between these and the starting armour, and don’t look much different then them as well. Still an option though.

Shoes
White gomushins. Easy to find, gives 4 defense average (3-5) as well as 2 speed (1-3). Dropped by orange mushrooms and are for both males and females.
Until you find white gomushins, just settle with your leather sandals or rubber boots…

If you need dex and/or jump, orange mushrooms also drop an extremely rare 10% Shoe for Jump scroll. If it works, you got yourself one expensive pair of white gomushins…

Earrings
Amethyst earrings are the only ones available on the island. They give no stats, and are just for looks. Dropped by red snails.

Scrolling

As islanders, we are limited to very good equipment. However, because money is not an issue on maple island, we can use whatever scroll we find without hesitation, hoping that it works. The scrolls that are available to us are:

10% Helmet Def – dropped by green snails
10% Shoes for Jump- dropped by orange mushrooms

If you get lucky and have some of these scrolls work, you will notice a big difference in defense, and maybe a slight difference in damage if the shoes for dex scroll works. However, unless you are an extremely lucky scroller, and are able to find many of these scrolls, it is unlikely that you can get Orange Mushrooms to do only one damage to you.

Training grounds

As an islander your training grounds are limited. You have:

Level 0-10: Snails and shrooms. Just walk around and kill anything in your path. It’s really all you can do. When you’re confident, do some damage, and have some defence, then try training on orange mushrooms.

8-10+: Dangerous forest. Packed with orange shrooms. Go to channel one. Usually all the non-islanders collect at the top and kill the green snails and orange mushies up there. This gives you a much better spawn so you can grind the bottom.

8-10+: Tomato Field. This is an alternate to Dangerous forest. It is a bit slower training, but it is much easier to grind, and there are many more monsters to kill. You don’t need to continuously clear another shelf to keep the spawn going. I still prefer Dangerous Forest.

Where to Hunt for Items

As an islander, you will always be wanting to stock up with more equips and scrolls. The following are the best places to train on specific monsters:

Drum Bunny/Leatty: I don’t see why you would want to hunt these, as they don’t drop anything and only give 1 exp. If your an “Apple Factory” Islander, you would just stay on the map with these guys and just level as much as you can… (good luck). They’re located somewhere in the apple factory…

Green snail: My personal favourite place is at Dangerous Forest; the portal in the Field West of Amherst above the portal to Amherst. The second floor has a huge amount of green snails, and if somebody is killing all the orange mushrooms at the bottom, you will have an endless spawn . If you find that it’s not that great, try going to Snail Hunting Ground I, II, or III.

Blue snails: Not many places to find these in massive spawns, but luckily, they don’t drop many useful items. The largest spawning of these is in split road (although you have to fight many shrooms and red snails too). After that choice, you can try the Field East of Amherst or Snail Field of Flowers (in the mushroom building in Amherst).

Shrooms: Only one good place for these little buggers: Mushroom Garden. It’s located in the Field West of Amherst, at the very bottom where there are two adjacent portals. Go into the one on the left. Shrooms roam this map.

Red snails:: These guys drop some useful stuff, but are not very abundant in the places that give good experience. They can really build up in the Dangerous Forest, but not a good enough spawn to hunt them only. I found the best place to be the Snail Field of Flowers. You might want somebody to stay up top and kill all the green/blue snails while you stay at the bottom and get an endless spawn of red snails. You might stay there quite a while; purses are very rare . Split road is also a great option for red snails.

Orange Mushrooms Looking for white gomushins, 10% shoes Jump, a double axe as well as great experience? Look no further. Dangerous forest covers ALL of your Orange Mushroom needs. Great experience and great drops makes an islander’s favourite map.
