A Currently Unnamed Story: Chapter One

[h]Sorry, something happened to the text while I was trying to put these blue things on and everything died. o__o;[/h]
So I had to type everything out again.
Enjoy…?

Blah blah blah, “it’s too short”. WELL TOO BAD!
I’m too lazy to write more anyway. xP

Sorry for stealing your Maple-style curses, Annikabelle.

[h]Chapter One[/h]
Blue mushrooms… Orange mushrooms… Oooh! There goes a green one…

“HELENA, GET UP!”

Helena squeezed her eyes shut as searing sunlight poured through her bedroom window.

“What the Unagi do you want?! Let me get some sleep for once…” She mumbled as she floated back to the dream world again.

“YOU’RE HAVING YOUR JOB ADVANCEMENT EXAMS TODAY!”

Helena shot straight up.

“Holy Balrog…” She cursed quietly.

Almost instantly, her room became a chaotic scene of flying books and clothes. In what seemed like a blur, she grabbed a staff, her spellbook, and a pouch of potions before jumping out the window. The morning air was cool and refreshing as it touched her face. Landing gracefully on her left foot, some twenty metres below her house, she bounded off towards the Library.

After what seemed like an eternity of dodging early-shoppers and magicians training, Helena finally reached Grendel’s front door. She gazed with awe at the safety seals engraved within the door, and without thinking, she stepped closer. The door opened with surprising ease; Helena took a deep breath and stepped in.

Helena gasped; although she visited the Library frequently, it was never as wondrous as it was today. Especially set up for her exams, safety seals were glowing beautifully everywhere. She was so hypnotized by the sight that she’d almost forgotten to breathe.

“H-h-hello?” she said, her voice shaky.

She took a step forward.

“Anyone here?”

With a flash of movement, a hooded figure emerged from the shadows.

“I’m sorry, Grendel left Ellinia yesterday, for a reason I do not know of, and will not be coming back anytime soon.” Helena flinched at the iciness of the cloaked Mage’s voice. “Therefore, your exams will have to be postponed until further notice.”

The words struck her painfully; as if someone had slapped her hard over the face. She stood there, paralyzed, for aeons.

You’ve got to be kidding… She thought to herself. I’ve waited all thirteen years of my miserable life for this day… And-and… This is what I get…?

She found her eyes moist with tears.

This can’t be happening…

Without thinking, Helena turned and ran.

What a cool and peaceful night. Thought Terry.

“Not anymore…” He whispered as he dexterously beheaded another Horned Mushroom.

I’ve always loved hunting at night; especially here, in Ellinia.

The Moonlight Shadow Effect(1) was a common sight in the forests of Ellinia. Terry never seemed to get tired of this fantastic scenery. While he was gazing at the glowing spheres floating around, a Slime snuck up behind him. He quickly performed a four-hit Savage Blow(2) and it exploded with green slime landing everywhere.
Oh ****. Terry quickly hid himself using Dark Sight(3); a huge blob of slime harmlessly flew through him. I don’t want my new armour stained with slime.

Suddenly, something at the corner of his eye caught his attention. Grabbing his Half Moon Dagger, he silently stalked towards the figure before him. Blanketed in shadows, an occasional Moonlight Shadow Sphere lit her face.
Terry froze.

‘Her’ face.

He found himself curiously edging forwards, still in Dark Sight. A closer look at her delicate face and puffy eyes told him that she had been crying earlier. He slowly let his Dark Sight fade away and sat down next to her.

“It’s a beautiful night, isn’t it?” whispered Terry.

Startled by his presence, the Magician quickly jumped up. Strands of her sapphire-blue hair flew up.

Wow, she’s pr― Terry shook his head in frustration. What the Unagi am I thinking?

The magician relaxed and sat down beside Terry.

“Yeah… I suppose…” she said.

The next few minutes flew past in silence as if they didn’t exist. But Terry was content just sitting beside her.

“Hey… uh… m’name’s Terry… just in case you wanted to know…”

“Mine’s Helena…” she smiled for the first time that night.

“So… Helena… can you tell me what’s wrong?”

“Well…”
[h]Sub-notes:[/h]
1) Extracted from Ellinia and its Natural Phenomena
“The Moonlight Shadow Effect is a popular view only seen in the topmost forests of Ellinia. This natural phenomenon occurs on a clear night, when the moon shines upon the forest. The light is absorbed by the gases naturally released by the plants and trees of Ellinia, thus illuminating them, lighting the forest up with glowing spheres.”

2)Extracted from Second Job Skillbook: Bandit’s Tricks
“Savage Blow: Use Mana to quickly stab and or slash at an enemy up to six times in a row.”

3)Extracted from First Job Skillbook: Thief Skills
“Use Mana to hide behind the shadows. While hiding, you are immune to all types of physical damage, but you can’t perform certain physical movements either. All movements other than attacking and picking up are available. It’s temporary, so after a while, you’ll be back to normal.”

Aslakdjaskdj. That took ages to rewrite. O_o

  1. Hmm. Not bad, but short. You should try to improve on your story. It was quite, fast-paced. But I liked it. Good work !
