Something I have always noticed but never really felt like writing about is the method of having one or two numbers and an X to show your level. You can see it not just for Maplestory, but any MMO. For example, if you put 3x it says that you could be an level in the 30s (30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39) so that instead of changing your level every time you level up, you only need to do it every 10 levels.
I can understand that in a signature (a picture usually made in photoshop or GIMP) you would rather just have an X number, but when it is just text I never understood why you couldn’t just update it every time you level up.
Depending on what level you are and how often you train you might have to change it every few days but that really isn’t much of a chore. You may belong to three Maplestory communities (like Basil, MMOTales, and Sleepywood) and that would take you all of 30 seconds to change your level in those three websites.
If you see monster killing montages (or whatever they are called) on YouTube, Basil, or Old Man Higgen’s Friendly Saturday Morning Video Shack and Virtual Online Casino for People of All Ages (OMHFSMVSVOCPAA) if you don’t feel like writing that out) then they will probably start out with something like:
FryedChicken Presents….
FryedChicken killing monsters to make you jealous starring…
FryedChick and my unimportant friends…

I could understand putting that in a video since there is really no point in making a new video every time you level up. But you could just put the level that you were when the video was taken with your 30 day free trial to fraps.
The stupidest thing I’ve seen in a video was someone who said their level was 1xx. Yeah, so there are 100 possible levels you could be and a level 100 is a lot different from a level 199. That’s not just being lazy, it’s some strange desire to make people like me slam my keyboard into my desk, pretending the desk is your ignorance.
Nexon has already caught this laziness virus and soon they will follow suit with the levels in Maplestory, assuming that you don’t really care if someone is level 60 or 69 anyway. They will change it so that you can only see the first number of your level and it will only change every 10 times you level up.
Since everybody will be extremely lazy by then, they won’t bother to keep track of what level they are and everything will go out of control. Nobody will know who is a level 21-30 and who is a level 21 or lower. Because of that, the party quest will be ruined.
Since everyone has to train now instead of doing the party quest, the Ant Tunnel will be over run with high levels who will kill steal for one monster. The lower levels will have to go to higher leveled monsters to train, but will constantly die. So because of that nobody will be able to get past level 21 legitimately.
So people will turn to hacking. Maplers who are trying to train on low level monsters won’t be able to get them because of the hackers. They will turn to hacking as well. Soon, everyone will become a hacker. The remaining legits will have their monsters constantly stolen by the fast leveling hackers and will need to start hacking as well.
In time, everyone will be hacker. The GMs won’t be able to ban them fast enough, and new bypasses will keep being made so that more people can hack. Nexon will have to make hacking not against the rules otherwise they will not be able to make money if they shut the game down.

I’m like the epitomy of laziness~I always do the #x thing because I always need to look where the numbers are on the keyboard, so I just put an x cuz I can remember where that is. I always forget the numbers. ><

dat’ll suck major ass if everybody was a hacker. hacking is kinda fun because of the lvl and stuff but to tell you the truth, hacking is boooooooooooooring. all u do is sit and watch the screen of ur char attacking and picking up. i’d rather play legit and be happy(and also be pissed wen i die) than hack. but then again, i quit so what the hell does all that matter

Well, I’ve never heard of anyone calling themselves 4x, 5x, etc, unless it’s something like
“I’m 4x and I’m training at [insert map that 4x’s usually don’t train on]” or something like that. Otherwise, whenever someone says #x it’s always something like
“Luster pixies is a 5x training place” I mean, you can’t just say “Luster pixies is a level 56 training place” because you don’t have to be exactly level 56 to train there, you just have to be generally somewhere in the 50’s. (Well, a lot of 6x train there, and I as a 4x trained there, and though I’ve never heard of any 7x training there, I’m sure there have. But that’s not the point.)
