Hey after studying a few things, I found out how to use a timer in Military talk! Now enjoy the story.
Location: Aboard the Luster battle cruiser
Mission: Defend against a Mateon and Gray invasion.
Objective: Sabatoge all the engines on the lead battle cruiser.
0720 Hours
Chief Warrant Officer Cipher Alpha wore a thruster pack for the space engine assault on the outside. Sergeant Kelly Nguyen did a quick adjustment to her thruster pack and gave the Chief a thumbs up. Cipher nodded before opening up the COM.
“Alpha Leader ready for the assault. You Bravo Leader?” Cipher asked. There was a short pause.
“Copy that. Bravo Team is ready to go,” Captain Santiago replied.
Kelly looked nervous although you cant see it while wearing the suit.
“Hey Cipher, you sure these things can stabalize us in deep space?” Kelly asked.
“Well Santiago did say they should be able to be used in space. They even got a built in oxygen tank,” he replied. Kelly acknowledged the answer.
“Wait, should?” Kelly asked. The COM channel opened up.
“Blue Team already heading through space. Careful though, there are alot of Mateon and Gray fighters moving out here.
“Acknowledged Bravo Leader. Alpha Leader out.”
Kelly, deciding that they should give it a try, opened up the airlock. Cipher jumped into space and activated the thruster pack. Kelly followed. It took them about 15 minutes to get to the battle cruiser while evading enemy fire. Kelly quickly used her Kage and her magic to make the suits not able to break, just in case of decompresion.
They magnitized their boots onto the ships wall and walked toward to where the engine was. After the mission timer read ‘0752’ they finally made it to the engine area. The Chief quickly activated his COM.
“Alpha Leader at position. Do you got the interior distracted?” he asked. There was a pause.
“Distracted? Boy we’re in a shoot out over here!” Sleyin replied. “Hold that thought.” There was a shotgun firing over the COM channel.
“Sorry Alpha Leader, we’re pinned down in a corridor When we kill a platoon, it seemed as if a battalion comes in as replacements. Just blow up those engines and get back to the Luster to get prepared for the assault in here!” Bravo Leader replied.
“On it. Just stay away from the engine area.”
Kelly started to arm a bomb that was strong enough to blow up the engines- and about an extra few rooms in the interior.
“This thing will blow in 10 minutes Chief. Lets get out of here.”
Cipher and Kelly pushed off the ship and started floating back to the Luster. They activated their thruster packs and to move faster to the Luster. In exactly 10 minutes there was an explosion. Cipher turned to and was pleased when he saw the engines and almost a quarter of the battle cruiser blown apart. He turned and saw a laser from a frigate fire at him. Only a couple of heartbeats passed when he saw what happened next.
Kelly got in front of Cipher and pumped her impact cushions to the maximum power. The laser collided with her armor and her shields were easily drained. Kelly managed to survive the first hit. A couple of other frigates fired their lasers. Kelly weakly raised her Kage and redirected the lasers to herself. The lasers made impacts on her body, causing cries of pain over the COM channel. There was a bright light, and then Kelly floated unmoving in space. The Chief opened up a window that showed Kelly’s vitals- it pulsed KIA.
Cipher closed the window and tried to force himself to believe that Kelly was just WIA. But if she is dead, he wouldn’t leave her here to die. He floated to Kelly and strapped her onto his back. He then tried to activate his thruster pack- it was dead. Cipher quickly tried Kelly’s- it was dead also. He searched around for anything he can get back to the ship with. He knew that the Luster was behind him, but he also knew that a frigate was at his side charging a laser that will blow them both to hell. He noticed that Kelly’s Humming Bird Laser was still secured onto her back. He knew that a Humming Bird Laser had a huge recoil and was adviced to use it in an emergency. Cipher pulled the Humming Bird Laser off Kelly’s back.
Well this is an emergency.
Sleyin fired a shell into a Mateon with his calibre shotgun. He aimed around his back and fired another shell.
“Bravo Leader theres too much!” Sleyin announced firing another shell into a Gray.
“Just try to get rid of these things as quickly as we can!” Santiago replied. She fired a couple of rounds onto a Mateon. She felt a laser bolt hit back and her shields depleted, just a little. She turned to the Mateon and smashed the butt of her rifle into its skull. Then they heard an explosion.
“Im guessing that Alpha Squad blew the engines,” Sanderson said, jamming his Lions Fang into a Mateon.
“Good, now lets go!” the captain ordered. They dashed toward back to their Black Raven. “Bravo 5 and 18, you planted those charges into this ships fusion reactors?”
There was a slight static. “Affirmative captain! Unfortunatly there are too much monsters to in here! Permission to stay behind!” Santiago closed her eyes. She had never thought she would have to leave behind fellow soldiers.
“Permission granted. Just blow them all to hell.”
“We plan to do so captain.”
They quickly boarded the Black Raven, but Bravo 8, 14, 15, and 20 were killed before they had a chance to board the bird. Sleyin and Sanderson killed off a few more Mateons and Gray before they flew off. Santiago was at pilot when she saw something fire a laser. Then she saw a frigate fire its laser. She quickly COMed the object.
“Chief! Sergeant Nguyen!” Santiago shouted.
5 seconds. The Humming Bird Laser took 5 seconds to charge, and so did a frigate laser. The weapon began to hum. 3 seconds. The laser on the frigate sparked. 1 second. Two lasers fired. The Chief was blown baack and tumbled in space. The frigate laser missed- and crushed a carrier ship. Cipher couldnt see anything and felt the Humming Bird Laser fly out of his hands. He then felt something grab him from behind and he got pulled into a Black Raven He opened his eyes and saw that he was aboard Black Raven 109.
“Kelly, is she-“
“Dont worry Chief, shes going to be fine. Lets just hurry and get her into a recovery tank,” Santiago said. The ship landed in the launch bay of the Lester
Cipher watched as medics loaded Kelly into a recovery tank. She floated as the chemicals started to recover her body, even though she wore the Maple Battle Armor. Suddenly the ships alarm activated. His shields flared and discharged. Cipher searched around quickly when he felt the ship rock. Cipher fell over and hit his head onto a control pad. Everything began to black out.
“Hey Chief Warrant Officer? You alright?” a medic asked. Cipher climbed up onto his feet. He starred at the medic.
“What happened?” he asked. The ship was dark. He clicked on his lights.
“Well the ship got hit by one of those lasers, but it was from a carrier. They deactivated all electronic devices- including the engines. We seemed to have crashed back onto Earth.”
“Where?”
“Our readouts state that we are in El Nath. The Lester is somewhat underwater. Good news is, most of the crew and soldiers made it. . . barely.”
“Whats the bad news?”
“We’re underwater.”
Cipher walked toward a view screen and activated it. Yep. They were underwater alright. He walked to Kelly in the recovery tank and punched the thing open. He strapped her onto his back again, grabbed a SMG, a couple of magazines, and a few grenades. He tossed the medics a M6G magnum with a couple of magazines at them.
“We’re going to get out of this thing,” Cipher told them. He noticed that his shields were at half charge but wont continue to recharge.
“There are a few fires and some leaks Chief, just becareful,” one of the medics reported. He just gave the medic a nod.
They began dashing through the corridors of the ship, cutting around corners and forcing doors to open. They found an armory which was flooded. Cipher placed Kelly onto the ground and dived into the water. He gathered up ammo, weapons, rations, and other supplies. He swam back to the medics and Kelly.
“We better hurry through, this place has a huge leak and Im not sure that we’ll be able to swim to the other side in time,” Cipher announced. He handed the medics an oxygen tank. “But one thing is certain, that leak is big enough to swim out of.”
The Chief strapped Kelly onto his back again and dived, carrying a bag full of the ammo, weapons, rations, and other supplies. The medics followed through. It wasnt a long swim. The medics had to pause every few minutes while surfacing, making sure they dont get the beats. When they surfaced they saw a few soldiers, 2 Black Ravens, a couple of Humming Birds, a few Panthers, and an Elephant.
“Status report?” the Chief asked as he hiked out of the water. The soldiers let out a sigh of relief when they saw him.
“Pretty good Chief,” a PFC replied. “We saved as much vehicles as we could before we had to get out of there. We couldnt get any weapons or ammo.”
“You’re in luck then.” The Chief tossed them the bag. “Help yourself.”
Cipher placed Kelly onto the ground. He opened up his vitals window. Kelly’s vitals moved as normal as always. He was relieved. He saw Sleyin, Sanderson, Santiago, Lee, and Shackles emerge from a Black Raven. They walked over to him.
“Good to see you in one piece Chief,” Major Shackles told him. “Hows Kelly?”
“Fine sir.”
“Im only 17 Chief, dont get all classy with me.”
“Of course. Whats our mission?”
Santiago explained that part.
“Theres a cave to the north of here. We need you to go check it out and tell us its safe. Then we’ll move foreward.” She paused to take in a breath. “You might also want to get a weapon stronger then the SMG.”
Cipher walked over to the weapons bag and picked up an M90 shotgun and swapped the SMG and all of its ammo for a BR55. He picked up some shells and magazines.
“Give me a NAV points,” Cipher ordered. Santiago did a qucik key typing and a NAV point appeared on his HUD. “Thanks. Wish me luck.”
The cave was a little moist, what with all the snow. The Chief had gotten his shield system repaired before entering the cave. The Panther skidded across the ground, making gravel and ice pop out from the back. After a few minutes of driving around the cave he thought he heard something. The Chief did. He jumped off the Panther just before a grenade blasted it to pieces. Cipher aimed his battle rifle and saw a person emerge from the shadows. A Zergling followed the person. Cipher didnt need to see anymore.
“Argus, what are you doing here?” he asked. “I thought you were MIA.”
“I was Chief Warrant Officer,” Argus replied. “I think its about time you die.”
“What are you talking about?”
“I want to see what you’re made of. Kill me and I know that you can destroy the base up ahead.”
“No way. Im not going to kill you!”
Argus shrugged. “Suit yourself.” He armed his Particle Rifle. “Die!”
The bolts started flying at the Chief. He felt the shields getting hit by the nolts. Cipher dived for cover. He waited for the shields to recharged. A grenade then practically landed in his lap. The Chief quickly activated his impact cushions. The explosion caused his entire shields to neutralize. He took a breath. Argus was an hostile now. It was time to defeat the hostile.
Cipher jumped over the rock and fired his battle rifle. Suddenly Defiler jumped in front of Argus and activated a Divine Shield generator. Cipher saw bolts fly toward him. He dodged the particle bolts easily and unslunged his shotgun. He fired 2 shells into the Divine Shield before it flickered and died out. Argus started running at him with his psy-blade.
As powerful as the Maple Battle Armor is, it could still be cut apart. Cipher ducked to avoid the blade and fired another shell. The shell caught Argus in the leg. Defiler then started attacking Cipher, knocking the M90 out of his hand. Cipher shields started to decrease as Defiler’s poison crushed the shield. He kicked the Zergling off his body, which was pretty difficult, and rolled to dodge Argus’s psy-blade. The Chief jumped off the ground and threw a grenade, pin pulled out, at Argus. Defiler used its telekenisis to throw the grenade at the wall.
Argus watched the explosion which gaved Cipher the perfect timing. He tackled Argus, knocking the psy-blade out of his hand. The blade turned off, but seemed usable. They entered hand-to-hand combat.
“Why are you doing this Argus?” Cipher asked, dodging a kick.
“If need to see your power, even if you wear that powerful suit of armor,” Argus replied calmly. Argus grabbed Cipher by his arm and tossed him over to a wall.
The Chief groaned, taking in deep breaths. He then found the psy-blade near his location. Cipher grabbed it and started running towards Argus. Defiler tried its best to toss another psy-blade to Argus, which he caught. Cipher dashed at Argus and Argus was ready to kill Cipher. Cipher grabbed Argus’s shoulder. Argus grabbed Cipher face. Then a psy-blade stabbed throguh someone.
Cipher and Argus starred at each other- and then Argus coughed out blood.
“Seems like you are strong enough,” Argus said weakly. The psy-blade held by Argus had missed Cipher by inches. “Defiler, come.”
He coughed out more blood. He handed Cipher a Divine Shield generator and a disc. “You’ll need it.”
A few seconds later Argus collapsed on the ground, dead.
The next mission would be a tough one. When the Chief linked up with the rest of a platoon, he handed Santiago the disc. Kelly sat up straight and starred off at the sky. Sanderson was fixing up a SR AM sniper rifle, whistling a little. Sleyin was drinking a bottle of water. Shackles debriefed the other soldiers on what the next mission was. Santiago called Cipher over.
“You know that disc? It contained a detail briefing and blue prints of a base in the Sea of El Nath which is sea of snow. It has been abandoned for years- well until whoever created these monsters took refuge in Fort El Queenath. There are 2 generators causing a barrier around the fort. They can only be destroyed by the reactor core inside them. Tomorrow is the mission, so you better rest up.”
Cipher saluted Santiago. She returned the salute and they went in seperate directions. It had already been dark by then. Cipher saw something run in the trees afar. Defiler must’ve been looking for what to do in life now. The mission, will stop all this killing. At least by these monsters.
To be continued. . .
