Chapter 02: A New Darkness
“Hmm, it looks as if the advantage is in our favour, quickly Dunn, let’s fall back for now.” Commanded Fire.
“You’re the leader.”
The duo ran across the grassy fields behind a cover of trees. The wind blew gently through the trees, making the leaves fall onto the grass below.
Fire regulated his breathing again into quick bursts, he asked. “Hey, are you all right Dunn?”
“Huh?” Dunn nodded. “I’m fine, don’t worry.”
“Good.”
Fire quickly switched his MPC on, which is short for Maple Personal Communicator. MPC’s allow people to comunicate with one another, as the name suggests. He typed in ‘Jun’ and pressed the button reading ‘Contact.’ The MPC sent a ray of light in front of Fire, creating a holographic square containing an animated phone ringing.
It took a moment before Jun picked up, and even when he did, he was looking away from the screen. Jun also seemed to be panting, forcing large amounts of air into his lungs. Jun was an assassin, specializing in attacking using throwing stars thrown by a claw.
Jun managed to ask. “What is it?”
“I knew it, you’re being attacked as well, right?”
Jun snapped. “What does it look like?!”
Dunn stepped into the conversation. “Hey, calm down. No need for yelling.”
“Right, back to why I called you, can you send any clerics over here? We’ve got some wounded people who need help.”
“Can’t. We’re short handed as it is.” Replied Jun. “Our-“
Just at that moment, Jun was cut off and the screen in front of Fire displayed a ‘Connection Lost’ message. Minutes after, the screen switched to a different person. A person who’s features were covered by darkness. This could be the answers we’re looking for, thought Fire.
“Hello FireFarseer.” Greeted the mysterious person.
Fire thought for a second. “Who are you and how did you contact me?”
“Well you can’t expect me to show you all my cards yet now can you?” Answered the person.
“You’re just toying with us aren’t you? The monsters are your doing.”
“All questions will be answered in due time, but right now, you have more important things to worry about.” Said the voice.
The connection was broken by the other person and the hologram was shut down. This isn’t good, thought Fire.
“What do you think he meant by ‘more important’?” Asked Dunn with a hint of fear in his voice.
The ground shook harshly and the pair turned around. A gigantic orange mushroom roared, its size surpassed even that of the infamous Mushmom. Its jumps created earthquakes, destroying houses.
“Dunn, call for some healers here,” Fire swiftly got up and picked up his bow at the same time. “Someone’s about to get hurt.” He sprinted towards the great monster, his bow emanating with powerful symbols.
“STRAFE!!”
To be continued…
And that’s it for now. The chapters definately seemed too short, that was due to the fact that I had a page limit. Anyways, I couldn’t access most of the options I’m used to…italics, indenting, etc. This is only the basic idea of how the actual story will unfold, so many things may change from what you’ve read. Leave feedback if you can, and if you’ve worked up the attention to actually read the whole thing, thanks for reading.
i like them, keep writing!
