Maple, a virtual society

Don’t you think so? My Chinse teacher was talking about Singapore not having a gracious society and suddenly poof, it struck me. Since more Singaporeans play MapleSEA, our culture, our society, are reflected there.

There are really many similarities in Maplestory and real life.(at least for Singapore) For those who do not live in Singapore, I shall briefly explain our culture:Some of us are nice, polite and helpful, but most of us aren’t and are selfish, greedy and unfriendly. I think the cause of this is because we are developing so fast, we have no time to think about others. Our society is very cold, I would say, we don’t interact with our neighbours or we pretend to see nothing when others obviously need help, etc. I feel that this cold society will change with time, after generations and generations, when slowly, parents start to pass on important values to their children.

That’s the introduction of Singapore, now, back to Maple. Basically, Maplestory is made out of 3 kinds of people:Nooby newbs that grow into mature pros, Mature newbs that stay mature and Noobs who are forever childish and imimature in thought. Take note:Newb does not equate to noob. Many people use them interchangably, but they are two completely different things.

Lvl1-30:This group consist of newbs, most of whom are noobs as they haven’t played long enough to fully mature. Some nooby acts are ksing, hogging map, mass defame over insignificant matters, etc.

Lvl 40+:This group is where changes for the better starts. Some start having a gracious gameplay(comparing it to gracious society), others, still as noob as ever.

Lvl 70+:By this time, almost everyone would be mature and gracious, making the game as fun as possible for others. Except for ebayers and noobs who never grow out of their noobness. If most people were at this lvl, imagine how much better playing maple would be, there would probably be less hackers, scammers, and more friendly and helpful people.

Well, now if you compare the maplestory “culture” back to Singapore’s society, or any other country’s society, you would see many similarities and that any country’s society will be catergorised under maplestory’s group of low, moderate or high lvl players. For Singapore, I feel that it is catergorised under the lvl 1-30 group. However, I believe eventually, Singapore’s society will move on to the lvl 70+catergory. I hope that after reading this, you would have a new perspective on how to be a better person and contribute to having a more gracious society in Maplestory so that everyone can have a better time in the game.

i always think newb is “(new b)egginer” and thats how u can find out what a newb is 😀 on the other hand i dunno wuts noob>.>

  2. I say this pattern would generally fit in for any sort of Life, regardless of location 😛

But good job. You explained the link between age and maturity, level and “noob-ness”.

But yes, I would say that the US definitely fits this pattern as well 😛

Well. . . What are we waiting for? Let’s revolutionize the world! XD

I would classify hackers and scammers under the noob section because they are people who spoil the game for everyone, making them noob.
