Chapter One: Best Friends

We walked through a series of dueling students being closely watched by a greasy-haired man with a clipboard.
“Ahh yes, just the man I wanted to meet. Kids, meet Professor Sapeidous Draconious.” Professor Sapeidous Draconious glared down at us, daring anybody to laugh at his name,
“Charmed.” The Principle, oblivious to his sarcasm, smiled.
“So tonight, Jessica, is the meeting on…” he stopped as Principal Jessica shook her head violently.

“He you two! BREAK IT UP!” Professor Sapeidous Draconius ran after to fighting airborne students. “Everybody, please call the Professor ‘Professor D’ please” The Principle gave a tiny laugh and moved on, muttering about Professor D. We moved on, passing more dualists and two fighting seniors being broken up by three teachers. The Principle went around, all of us trailing behind and watching the fight. We finally reached the glass double doors. In one push, the glittering doors opened up a sight and smell of wonders.

The floor of the entrance hall was pure gold, too one side a huge buffet table was laid out for breakfast. On the roof were seven stone pendulums, each swinging in synqronization. There were gaps of “Oooo” and “Ahhh” as everybody noticed what sat in the middle of the entrance hall. A circle made of adamantium was filled to the top with sparkling clear water.

Seven figures sat on a little island in the middle made of gold, a woman shot ice from her fingers and a man shot fire from his. Another had their crystal eyes shut, Jason supposed she was a Mind Reader. Two twins sat back to back, one reading and the other talking to a falcon on his shoulder. A flying girl stood above them. The middle man, a man in his forties, stood with a golden crown on his head and thick gloves on his hands.

“Ahhh yes, you have noticed the seven founders, creators, the leaders of Maple Academy!” the Principle said, smiling and pointing at each in turn,
“The fire and ice, Matthew and Jessica. The Mind Reader is Olivia, the twins: Travis and Owen with Isabelle flying above them and then there is King Jonathan, the first King to have a power. Only two of them still live”
“How!?” Rey blurted out. The Principle laughed,

“They were given immortality by…Well, wait and see” She spun on her heels.
“Where is she!” somebody screamed from the crowd as she reappeared again.
“Sorry about that, old habit” she apologized.
“Hey Principle! You looked stressed out, you want me to take over the tour?” A senior-looking boy walked up to us. He had a black army jacket with a pale white t-shirt underneath and baggy jeans. Jason saw Colleen do a flip as she saw him.

“Oh would you Varnus? Thank you!” She did a spin and disappeared.
“Alright you lot, I am Varnus Trifle, I’m a Senior at Maple Academy, my power is Restoration. I do medical at the CTF and CTH. So you’ll see me running around. Now, follow me to the library!”
“Psst! Oy, Jason!” Rey’s voice whispered from behind me. He jerked his head towards a door that said ‘Staff Only’.

“Oh no waaay!” Jason whispered as Rey pulled him away from the group and towards the door. They bolted inside and shut the door.
“Oh, we are so dea-”
“Shut up! There’s somebody coming” There were footsteps,
“More than one” Jason whispered back. Two men and a woman turned the corner, we dove under a table. “Jessica, stop, please Jessica!! JESSICA, STOP!” A wall of energy cracked the walls as it expanded in front of Jessica.

“What is wro-”
“THE ONE’S WE’VE BEEN WORRYING ABOUT ARE HERE!” she screamed at him, whipping around. Her hand flew out and an ice bolt appeared in the palm of her hand. She hurled it at him, he dodged it and shot back his own ice bolt.
“OH DON’T TRY THAT WITH ME, SIR!” she spat, grabbing the ice bolt and throwing it back. The second man jumped into the middle of them,

“STOP!” he shouted. Beams of sonic energy blew from his fists and hit both of the others.
“I WILL NOT HAVE MY PRINCIPAL AND A TEACHER FIGHTING!” his voice echoed with power. “Jessica, please! Control your powers! D, stop fighting! You know this won’t help!” Rey nudged Jason’s elbow and whispered,
“Wicked…” Jason shook his head, stupid, stupid Jason.
