NOTE
My character’s name is IslanderEver and the server I’m on is Scania. I started this character on 2007-11-12. Feel free to add me as a buddy if you’re a fellow Islander!
INTRODUCTION
I am starting this entry at level 12, because now I can safely “officially” say that I’m an Islander. For those who don’t know what an Islander is, it is someone who stays as a Beginner on Maple Island forever.
If any of you want to be an Islander, the best stats you could get are:
STR 13
DEX 4
INT 4
LUK 4
This is nearly impossible, so I recommend you get 10 STR or more. Getting some extra LUK isn’T bad as long as you have enough STR. My personal starting stats are:
STR 10
DEX 5
INT 5
LUK 5
I think this is quite good… anyways, put ALL of your point at every level in STR, so at level 12 I have 65 STR.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
I will post noticeable comments or questions here with answers.
Q: Wouldn’t it get boring and repetitive? There’s not much to do on Maple Island, is there?
A: Yes, it does get repetitive. Or should I say challenging. But no Islander has gone up to high levels, and I want to be the first player on MapleStory to do that.
There are many rare items on Maple Island, like items, weapons and armor such as double-axes or blue one-lines T-shirts. There are even scrolls, which are super rare, so there are quite some things to look for on Maple Island
I can also help beginners, give them items, party with other people, level up newbies, and many things. There are more things to do than it seems on Maple Island.
Q: Should I add <stat>?
A: I suggest you stick with STR, as DEX only raises very slightly the minimum damage, and you shouldn’t need any LUK if you 1-hit K.O. every monster on Maple Island.
Q: What skills should I train?
A: I suggest being a perfectionist, and adding 2 SP in each skill. That way you can recover without standing still, walk faster to avoid enemies, and throw blue shells if you want some stable ranged damage. The most useless skill of all three will probably be Three Snails, when you get in the higher levels, though.
PART 1 – DAY 2
I started my character yesterday at STR 10, DEX 5, INT 5 and LUK 5. Today, I’m starting at level 12, 65 STR, 5 DEX, 5 INT and 5 LUK. I have the best level 0 equipment there is on Maple Island, excluding the 6-Defense rare green headband that snails sometimes drop. Currently, my only concern is finding the correct level 11 equipment, like the double-axe and the blue lined T-Shirt.
I have no friend on this character, I’m somewhat lonely, but I kill time by hunting orange mushrooms to get a double-axe.
PART 2 – DAY 2
About an hour or two after starting playing, I leveled up to level 13, adding 5 points in STR, which is now on 70. But still no level 11 equipment! I guess I’ll have to wait a while. I’m not very lucky with this character, since on some other ones I already found a wooden sword and a warrior hat. The only noticeable change into IslanderEver, my character, is that I found a few ores: Opal, bronze, silver, mithril, amethyst and aquamarine, I think… I guess I’ll continue hunting until I find something useful for an Islander!
PART 3 – DAY 3
Today, I’m a little tired so I only trained until I had about 50% EXP through level 13. I got a few ores, but this time, I also found one of the level 11 equipment, the Blue One-Lined T-Shirt! I bought it from another Islander, though. I’m so unlucky… I also updated the character picture (link at the top) so you can see the T-Shirt.
Editing this blog every day, make sure you check it out!
Wow. . .
If you put it into all strength, you won’t be able to hit things quite as accurately.
I suggest you put some points into DEX
Wrong muffin
You need no dex for islanders
Go straight strength
my first islander had dex
my second doesn’t
I agree with both waffle and muffin. You should add strength until you can 1 hit the orange mushrooms 60% of the time. Then add dex till you can 1 hit them 100% of the time. Then all to luck so they always miss you.
*girly waffles? o.o*
woooww o.o
wouldnt it get boring and repetitive?
theres not much to explore on maple island is therjlehuI?

I suggest you put some points into DEX “
I am an Islander, meaning that I stay on Maple Island forever, meaning that I don’t need any DEX since I get more accuracy from the start that I need to hit orange mushrooms, the only monster that needs accuracy.
mhmm -does dr. evil impersonation-

Hm, You have a point but I still prefer adding STR,
What world you on?
mm well, that soubnds kinda cool. but im an exploror so maybe thats just me =O
what world?

Don’t add any dex
Because of the weapons islanders use and the monsters on the island adding dex won’t do any better than adding str
Back before islanders were near as popular as they are now, with all these new weapons and such, my islander had dex and all it did was slow me down
this is because your minimum damage will most likely never get near 80 if you add dex and it does nothing but waste time
if anything add luk before dex because luk adds more avoidablilty and you won’t buy too many pots
otherwise dex is almost worthless on maple island
this is from experience
But dex also raises avoid and minimum damage
lol do u really ned that much from mushies?

Wait. Im confused
