Demons of Ice And Gods of Fire #2

“…and so may your life be filled with prosperity and fulfillment of your greatest wishes, and mayb you live to seek your follow-life with the gods forever more, and may their not need be a Hell, for The Hierarchy shall be upheld, and may you live for the gods. Karash Di Nafa.” Grendel said as he preached over the large chapelful of magicians, and wizards, and priests, and even the hopefuls who wished to become a magician. As he closed his prayer book there was a loud chorus of, “Karash Di Nafa.” The ceremonial prayer send.

Grendel stood up as many feet shuffled out the stone floors off to do whatever it was they were doing for he day. Grendel looked up as a smiling young man stood in front of his pedstal. the man had bright green eyes and forest green hair. He wore the traditional wizard robes worn by all just before their Choosing.

“Ah, Severen. What is it you need?” Grendel asked, a smile adorning his weathered old face.

“I wanted to talk to you abou some…things, Sir. Is there anywhere we can talk in private?” Severen asked.

“Ah, come with me to my study. We can talk there.” Grendel said as he walked off to his study, Severen trailing behind him.

“So, let me guess, you are concerned about which path you will choose, am I correct?”

“Ye…yes. I think ti’m going to follow the path way of the Ice And Lightning wizard sir.”

“I see. So you will follow the crystal path of ice, obscured by lightning, rather than the hellish walkway of fire shoruded in poison, or the lightned path of holy ways?”

“Yes Grendel Sir. But, you make it seem as if the holy path were the easiest to take. Is this true? Because mayhaps then i should…” Severen trailed off.

“It is not the easiest. For you only see as far as the Gods believe you have proven you can see. Some say it may be the hardest path .But do not follow what your mind tells you to. Follow only what your heart tells you.”

“But…that’s the thing sir. I…” Before Severen could finish Grendel’s study door was flung open a magician covered in cuts and slashes bleeding profusely stumbled in.

“Grendel…Sir…The Eastern Wall…Monsters…Under Attack…Help…” Was all he could manage before collapsing.

“I’m sorry Severen. But I must go. May the gods be with you. Karash Di Nafa.” Was al Grendel said before rushing out of his study.

“Karash Di Nafa…” Severen mumbled half-heartedly…
