Raiders of the Maple World- Prologue

RAIDERS OF THE MAPLE WORLD- Prologue

I stared up at the large sign above the glowing blue vortex. “Free Market…..This is where I saw Starr run into.” I mumble to myself. “Come back here Starr!” I cried, staring at the glowing blue vortex. “You know we aren’t supposed to go in there, its been off-limits since the second Maple World war.”

I can’t help but think back to that horrible time. All the devastation…..and the blood. It was everywhere. My father being one of the strongest fighters in our town went off to fight. The day after he left, the gangs in my neighborhood thought it would be a good idea to try to “have their way” with my mom.

That day my skills were put to the test. I was up in my room, drying my hair with a towel after recently exiting from the shower. As soon as I sat on my bed I heard a loud THUD and my mothers screams. I quickly sprung into action, grabbing my dark avarice and a few tobis laying on my table. I quickly ran down the stairs.

I jumped over the last few steps and sprinted into the kitchen, noticing the knocked down door. My mother was nowhere to be seen. I heard voices in the living room. I listened closely to where the voices were coming from and I bashed into the room throwing two tobis blindly.

When I looked up I saw that I had hit my mark. Two people were standing in front of the couch with my tobis sticking out the back of their heads. Their bodies quickly went limp and fell to the ground. My mother was tied up on the couch. The third member of the gang stood still in shock. I slowly walked up to him and whispered in his ear “If you want to live, I suggest you leave right now. And tell Jason that if he doesn’t want the rest of his gang to end up like these two, he better leave town.”

A tear rolls down my cheek at the thought. “That was the last time I saw my mother. “Wiping away my tears I step into the vortex. Everything around me starts spinning so fast, I’m forced to close my eyes. “Open your eyes will ya, stop being such a Wuss.” Starr whispers loudly. “We’ve gotta find a way out of here.”

“What do you mean? We’ll just go back through the…….” I look around for the vortex. “HEY! Where’s the vortex!?”

“Will you be quiet! Don’t you know? The vortex to leave the Free Market has be destroyed ever since the-” Noticing the anger in my eyes, Starr gets real quiet. “I’m sorry Ichi, I forgot.”

“Don’t call me that! That’s not my name anymore!” I say raising my voice, for the first time ever, towards Starr.

“Sorry. Here lets use these teleport scrolls to get out of here.” Starr says reaching into her backpack and pulling out two scrolls.

I take the scroll from her and begin reading the inscriptions. When I speak the final word a bright light surrounds me and when it fades I’m surrounded by the familiar buildings of Kerning City. I wait for Starr to finish reading her scroll. Suddenly Starr walks up behind me and taps me on the shoulder. “Hey I think we should go home it seems awfully late.”

I look up at the sky and notice that the sun is still up but for some reason everything around me is submerged in darkness. “Hmm… This is weird.”

Notes- Okay. This is my first story ever. I’m not used to writing in first person so it came out worse than it could have been and I don’t have the time to edit it. From now on I will be writing my stories in 3rd person.

Leave comments please. I would like to know if this is worth continuing.

  1. Good story line so far. And yea it’s pretty messy. There are some misspelled words in there.

  2. Yeah. I’m sorry about the messiness and grammar mistakes I’m currently writing on my cellphone and I don’t have a spell check on it. I was kind of in a hurry.

  3. I’m not sure what you’re going for here, but since this is a prologue I’ll give you a chance. I guess it’s a nice start.

  4. I know this is weird but I’m changing my characters names. You’ll see in the next chapter what their new names are.

  5. I did. I edited the prologue. I changed the girls name from Jo to Starr. And the boys name is never mentioned in the prologue.
