World of Warcraft first experience

I was hooked on MS from the first few times I played it, I spent ages training my character, pushing ahead to get to my goals. First it was level 30, then 50, then 70, then 90. Eventually, I just got bored of the levelling. I had to take a break.

I decided to give World of Warcraft a chance. It was the top-rated MMORPG in the world, surely there was something good about it? While I can’t say I got hooked like the millions of other players who spend an average of 22 hours a week on the game, I did find it engaging.

The environments are so immersive. You can zoom in and out, rotate the angles, see the sunsets, or watch the sun rise. There’s wind, you can hear yourself walking on different surfaces. And it had a very easy going pace. No senseless levelling just for the sake of levelling (you listening MS developers?). The initial quests are still the same old “get me this I’ll give you this”, but the quests were more believable. An NPC didn’t just happen to want 25 wooden planks for no reason, there was a story behind it, the game is good at getting you immersed.

I wouldn’t say I’m hooked, but then I think Maple Story killed any ability for me to get so suckered into an MMORPG again. Maybe I’m just jaded and have my defenses up. But there are some things about the game I’m not thrilled about. Such as the fact that your weapons and armor wear down over time. Fixing them is cheap and easy, but it still requires you finding the right person to do it. What’s great about MS is the simplicity of everything. There are 12,000 items in the game, there are barely 2,000. The skills and abilities are deep enough to hook up and keep you going, but not intimidating like WoW’s Talent branch.

I’m way older than the average MS gamer, but maybe that’s partly why I’m so into it — it reminds me of the NES days, simpler times when there was no 3D or FPS’.

MS was fun, WoW is fun, but my search for more fun continues.

  1. I really want to play WoW. However, I can probably only play for 4 months because of the 15$ per month thing. I won’t be able to persuade my dad to pay 15$ per month for some game.

  2. I know how you feel. It was hard for me to plunk down the cash to pay for it. But then I realized how much I’d spent on MS, and that was for clothes.

  3. Well my friend and I have done a yearly payment. Don’t ask but we’re paying around 75 dollars a year for it, instead of 15 dollars a month.

  4. I always wanted to try WOW, but it just seemed too complicated. granted im 24 and if i really wanted to i could prolly figure most stuff out. but i try to stick to one MMO at a time otherwise you have lots of characters in different games, but no really good ones. i admire ms for its simplicity but yes i do wish there was more of a story to it.

  5. WoW is a great game, i am a WoW power gamer, got a 60 NE hunter with full tier 2 set, i also got a 43 orc warrior and a 30 troll priest. Although im rich, and i can pay for my own account =D.*money showers over head* see that?!

Well anyways Captian hit the nail on the head, the envierments are so diverse, and leveling is acually worth something, and there arent 120+ levels or whatever, there are 60, anthough the level cap is raising to 70 in July or Augest, but coming with this is a huge expantion world, new flying mounts, new diverse land in a new world, and new instances*doungeons for you maple power gamers”waves”* But thats not all, WoW acually has PvP combat, Yes, you to can kill horde as an alliance or alliance as a horde. Of corse, there is also cool looking gear, and serveral different classes and races, Including 1 class specific to each race. The Paladin, which is basically the knight in shining armor, who can tank mobs and heal themselves and others, They are Warrior/Priest hybrids. The Shaman, which are like the tribe spiritual leaders, they can lay down totems, which can hurt the enemy and help you. They also have diverse magic called Shocks, which each have there own element, also, shamans can heal also. Shamans unlike paladins are more Mage/Priest hybrid.

  6. alot of people in my school play wow also but i just dont want to pay for something that might *with my internet connection* would crash every time i log on .

  7. lol basmo i pay for my WoW or u cud just get a cracked version or ill pay for u lol wat r friends for

  8. i agree WoW is an awesome game, 38 Tauren Warrior got hooked since level 10 XD 2 levels til mount. but seriously WoW is woth paying to play its so awesome (ps im juggling MS with WoW right now so dont say i dont like MS)

  9. Paying for things is actually not that bad in WoW, I usually have more than enough to get skills and equipment. I started playing it after Maple too, and I love side-scrolling games way more than anything 3D–mostly because I don’t like relying on the mouse for anything. But playing it made me nostalgic for Warcraft II and III, and playing those again made me want to get into WoW and see how great everything has become. Blizzard’s come a long way.

Maybe MS is more for people who are hardcore RPers due to there being practically no plot in that game. >_> It’s your story.
