The Fire Within Ch- 21

The setting sun streamed its last dieing glows across the crisp light blue sky. Crimson lights painted the white clouds, tinting them in a reddish glow. The ocean crashed, wave after wave, onto the sandy yellow beaches. Sea gulls cried hungrily as they soared through the salty air. The wind blew gently, swaying the palm trees to and fro.

Two pairs of foot prints walked, almost floated, across the beach. There were a pair of Green Snowshoes and flip flops lying next to a boulder jut out into a little lagoon. The water inside was as clear as mineral water. Numerous amounts of colorful fish danced in the gentle waves. Corals of all different sorts and colors reflected the sheen of the fish as they darted playfully by. Two pairs of feet were twirling the water around, feeling the cool ocean envelop their skin.

Ryan and Michelle sat in silence while peacefully surveying the tranquil horizon. The sun had almost set now. It was now a little red ball, sinking into the ocean millions of miles away. Ryan’s shaggy dark hair swayed in the gentle breeze as Michelle’s gorgeous blonde hair flowed freely in the wind. Ryan had his arms around Michelle’s waist as she laid her head on his strong shoulders. The pair of them watched as the sea gulls soared down to try to find any scraps of food.

One particular bird found a baby crab. Unable to fend itself, the little crab could only grab out futilely as the gull pecked voraciously at it. Michelle took her feet out of the cool water and hopped lightly off the rock. She gracefully walked towards the pair in a struggle and caught the snow white bird. Ryan looked on in mild amusement as she looked deeply into the bird’s eyes. Suddenly, it flew off, forgetting the crab. Michelle then walked over to the crab and kneeled down. She took the little arthropod in her hands and walked slowly back to the lagoon. Kneeling down, she placed the crab into the water, watching it spit up little bubbles as it sank. “Have a good life,” she whispered.

“What was that?” Ryan asked tenderly.
“Oh just saving a life,” Michelle replied absentmindedly. Ryan did not pursue the subject. Together, they watched as the red sky turned purple, and then black. Shimmering stars crept into the night sky, accompanied by a full, pale moon. The two sat there listening to the low crashes of the gentle and mighty sea.

Ryan’s time with Michelle flashed before his eyes. What ever happened to all those days on the beach? What ever happened to all the peace in the world? Why did it have to end like this?

“No, Michelle, don’t go please!” Ryan cried out in pain. “Don’t leave me here alone.” Tears rolled from his eyes and splashed around his girl. He placed his hand to Michelle’s neck, and found a faint but sure pulse. “Still alive, please, come back, I need Vanya, sh**,” Ryan stuttered while shaking uncontrollably. She had lost a lot of blood, which was now covering a good deal of the ground and his hands. Hastily, he ripped off a sleeve of his shirt and tied it around Michelle’s waist, trying to stem the flow of blood. Ryan picked her up and placed hr on his shoulders, and ran downstairs; hopefully back to an alive and well Vanya. Only hope remained.

A stream of fire spurted out of the Dragon’s mouth as it dodged the evil monster’s tentacles. Vanya grasped his Kage tightly. Beads of sweat streamed down his forehead as he teleported left and right, avoiding the blows of the crowned man’s elite minions. He tried to strike at them with his Holy Arrows, but they were too slow and had to teleport away before he got decapitated. Mark was in a similar dilemma. He had been backed into a corner. Numerous black figures surrounded him, brandishing their weapons and moving in for the kill. At the back of the room, the monster and Vanya’s dragon were still fearsomely dueling it out to the death.

From out of no where, Vanya’s voice popped out, “Use it Mark, do it now!” He could see Vanya fiercely fighting the elite, but the voice sounded as if he was right next to him. Mark knew what it meant. He had only released a bit of his power before when he used it, but this time he had no choice. He had to do it. Dragon Roar.

Mark reared his head back, as if to strike like a cobra. He inhaled a deep gulp of air, and unleashed his wrath. The Roar of the Dragon trembled the cavern to the point of an earthquake. Every single one of the crowned man’s minions was thrown back into the opposite side of the cavern, hundreds of feet away and knocked unconscious. The cave began to crumble, releasing boulders from the ceiling that crashed dangerously into the ground next to them.

Vanya, taking this brief chance of confusion, teleported over to Mark who had collapsed after that tremendous unleashing of power. With Mark’s arms wrapped around his shoulders, Vanya teleported the hell out of there. Right when the two of them burst out the door and onto the foot of the stairs, the walls crumbled and trapped the remaining cloaked figures and the two battling monsters in the cave. Vanya could hear the roars of his dragon entwined with the screeches of the monster. “Come back, you have done well,” he communicated telepathically to his servant. Vanya felt a burst of energy as his Dragon obeyed his wishes and vanished into thin air. He then heard a long, agonizing screech as the monster realized he had lost his combatant.

Vanya collapsed onto the floor under Mark’s heavy weight. He tilted his head up and cried out in despair. There was Ryan carrying Michelle right in front of him. He needed no explanation. The arrows, Ilbis, and the pool of blood revealed the entire scene to Vanya.
“Vanya thank god, please help her man!” Ryan cried to him pleadingly. Vanya crawled up to Michelle’s limp body as Ryan placed her back on the cold, marble floor. Immediately, Vanya grasped her hands with his. They were freezing cold. Channeling his body heat into her, an emerald haze developed around the two healers. This emerald glow turned into a deep, jade-colored mist which swirled slowly around the two. Vanya focused all of his energy into Michelle. He felt her faint heart dieing away, but persisted. However, with all his might, he could not heal the deep wound in her stomach. Tears crept into his eyes as Vanya realized he could not save her. He released her hand.

“Vanya? What happened?” Ryan stuttered.
With tears flowing freely from his eyes, Vanya turned to face Ryan, “It’s over.”
