Deafening Screams Chapter 3

Training to Kill

Cabin on Ship to Ellinia

Alexei stared at a small heart locket he held in his hands. As he opened it, he saw a picture of him 5 years ago, holding his Composite Bow. The other side held a a picture facing the wrong way but Alexei made no move to turn it over. He was the one who had turned it over 3 sad years ago. A tear appeared at the brim of his eyes as he stared at the white blank space. He put it around his neck and tucked it into his Dark Ades. He picked up his Dark Arund and opened the door to the Cabin. The light shone overhead as he sat at the edge of the watch tower. As he turned his head, he saw a small black dot. He stood up and strung his bow as he realized that it was a Steel Arrow imbued with mana as it could’ve never reached this high in the air. He shot a Soul Arrow at it but it disintegrated as it hit the arrow. It took a moment for him to realize what happened. The mana leaking out of the arrow absorbs anything with mana and uses it to put up a barrier around it. The arrow flew at a high speed and he had 60 seconds to come up with a plan. He replayed it over and over again in his head. He saw a shimmer as the Soul Arrow hit it and faltered for a moment before a blue aura covered it again, in a split second. He had a confident look in his eyes as he made two arrows and pulled the string. He released one arrow and half a nanosecond later, released the other one.

Billy’s Metus was on the ground and his hands were in the air, as if he were manipulating a puppet. It was him who shot the arrow and he was manipulating it to attack the Ship to Ellinia. He had to test the boy’s capabilities as a Ranger and continued its course. An arrow had hit before but Billy placed a barrier around it, making it immune to attacks including magical properties. Another arrow hit his but he didn’t move. He should’ve known that it doesn’t work if it didn’t work the first time. What he hadn’t expected was another arrow and his Steel Arrow broke into 2 peices before falling into the ocean. He smiled, as he learned the boy’s own mental capabilities. He picked up his Metus and walked over to a small boat, which he got on and started sailing to Lith Harbor.

The boat sailed into the harbor and Josh got off first. He looked around as Alexei jumped off the side and landed on the platform. The clear blue sky was at peace, much like the Station. It was a weird sight since the station was supposed to be littered with people.

“Somethings not right here,” Rose observed. Jake continued to look around until he saw a shimmer. He dashed to where he saw it, in the Ticket Boothe. He saw what it was he had saw and stepped back, eyes widened in shock. “Take a look at this,” he stammered as the three surrounded the Boothe and backed away like Jake. The User lay dead on the floor as the shimmer turned out to be an Angelic Betrayal shining in the sun.

“Seems like you’ve arrived safely,” a mysterious voice said behind Alexei. He turned around and saw a boy of 19 years of age. “Allow me to introduce myself. I am Mister Billy Thorne and it so happens that you owe me an arrow,” he said.

Alexei put a smug grin on his face, “So it was you who controlled that arrow. I never expected a Ranger to be able to do that.” His eyes widened as Billy had ran up to him and knocked him back with his Metus. Blood gushed out of his mouth. He was clutching his stomach in pain and shut one eye. He put his other eye’s focus on Billy.

“Focus on my movements, don’t let me slip past you,” Billy said as he started accelerating forward again, more slowly this time but still not slow enough for Alexei to see. His vision started to blur and he was seeing doubles. He focused as hard as he could but no avail as he was knee’d in the stomach area. Billy threw a purple liquid onto him, which evaporated into Alexei and the pain disappeared. He stood up again, replenished. Billy rushed at him again but this time, things were different. One step to the right, dash, rinse and repeat. He replayed the message over and over again in his head as he counted Billy’s steps. Two steps, Alexei put his hands around his bow. One step, he pulled his Dark Arund forward as quick as he could. No steps, the two bows clashed and sparks flew out. Billy retreated with his Metus and made circles around Alexei faster than the last time but still slower than the first time. Then all of the sudden he disappeared. Alexei looked around but with no avail.

“Up high.” Billy brought down his Metus and pierced his shoulder but he countered with his own bow, striking Billy in the chest area. Blood gushed out of his mouth and he smirked. His Metus fell out of his hands as he let go of it. Wuh oh. . . thought Alexei as he looked at the limp body of Billy. He felt around for his pulse and found it in a few moments. He sighed a sigh of relief, one he had in a long long time. He picked up his bow and started to walk for a few seconds, then started limping. His vision was starting to blur more and more and he realized that blood still trickled down from his shoulder, where the Metus had been. He looked around and realized, Where are they? He frantically looked around with one open eye, other shut because of pain. He scowled and started to run around Ellinia. The empty air around Ellinia had a weird vibe. Not a fairy in sight, much less a human.

He began to tire out after 4 minutes of running, his feet burned and his shoulder still trickled blood out. He tightened the corners of his mouth and fell down to one knee. This wasn’t a time to panic and he began to consider the possibilities. He was answered with a sharp blow to his back, nearly breaking his spine. He fell down but before he passed out, he heard 2 words.

He’s down.
