Tales of a Lost Phoneme (7)

Episode 7 Chime of the Phoneme

A childhood version of Ryuu raises his sword, staring at it intently. Then suddenly it glows brightly, and a bright red fire engulfs the sword. He looks up as a young girl with long purple hair stares meditatively at the sword as well.

“Impressive, huh? I only made the seal yesterday, so I’m still getting used to this Fire Mage stuff,” Ryuu says, waving the sword around. “It’s pretty difficult to control both powers at once.” read more

Episode 5 Regret the Paradox

Two guards walk into a large room open room behind Ryuu and Kunai, stun guns pointed at their backs. In front of them is a large circular hole, leading down into a bottomless abyss. Hovering over the hole is a large throne built around an equally large computer, held up by many wires.

Sitting in the throne is a thin man with long blue hair, its bangs partially veiling his face. The man wears a small red monocle over a pair of glasses, and is draped in a thin protective layer of armor. He rises to his feet on top of his throne as Ryuu and Kunai are thrown onto their knees before him. read more

Episode 3 Eye of the Paradox

[Haven, City of Smoke]

Several large industrial buildings spewing large clouds of smoke stand clustered together, enclosed by a barbed wire fence. Many clouds of excess pollution have turned the sky into a blood red color, filled with clouds thick with gaseous vapors.

Ryuu glances momentarily back at Kunai, Arai, and Ivy as he leaps over the fence, knocking down the guard as he does so. He unsheathes his sword and immediately stabs the downed guard in the back, killing him. He turns and opens the gate in the fence, allowing the other three to enter. read more

Episode 4 Dusk in Haven

As the explosion clears, Ryuu and Kunai enter the hallway. In front of them is a large pile of rubble, rising from the floor to the ceiling.

“The ceiling’s caved in!” Kunai cries out loud.

Ryuu glances around apprehensively. “Dammit…we haven’t got the time to clear this mess.” Suddenly overhead, another alarm rings followed by a flash of red light. “The guard’s are gonna be on the way with all the noise we made.” read more

Episode 2 The First Paradox

The girl rises slowly to a sitting position on her bed, staring around with a puzzled expression on her face at Kunai, Ryuu, and Arai. She turns to Arai. “Um…where am I? What happened?”

Episode 1 Epiphany of the Joukai

Kunai is sitting in a small wooden chair at the bedside of the girl from earlier. Her eyes are closed as she lays on the bed, her chest rising slowly in respiration. By her side on a small cabinet are her Thorns and Dark Seraphis.

Kunai sits still, listening to her soft breathing, his head pointed toward the ground in a thoughtful trance. He raises his right hand, equipped with a Black Scarab and removes it, flexing his fingers. He raises his hands to his forehead as well, taking off his Dark Identity and revealing a mat of disorganized black hair. read more
