My New Class: Mage Knight

( In the vein of Lunar Panda’s recent descriptions of jobs, I’ve decided to make job descriptions for the characters in my crappy demi-fanfic, Eternal. [shameless plug]Check it out if you haven’t seen it.(And leave comments!)[/shameless plug] Hope you enjoy them whilst they last. )

2nd Job: Mage Knight (Apprentice)
Progresses from: Either Magician or Warrior, depending on which 1st job skills you want first.

Stats: There are multiple builds for a Mage Knight.
Making one, you could add more STR than INT. This would give a Mage Knight more powerful attacks, but less magical offense. Vice versa for adding more INT than STR. You could equal them out, but it’s wiser to make a Mage Knight in the manner of a regular DEX-less warrior or LUK-less mage, depending on your starting class.
Doing physical damage, Accuracy would be dependent on INT. Naturally, this would make first job hard for a Warrior, but considering the tradeoffs of that path it’s worth it, right?

Weapons: Being essentially a Knight (by which I mean Page), a Mage Knight can use both swords or maces. However, due to the lack of attacks which would force a certain animation, most Mage Knights would probably use swords.

Armor: Can use both Warrior and Mage armor, but not both at the same time. Obviously, there would have to be a new line of clothing created for Mage Knights which would not require LUK…

First Job Skills: The same as whichever job you choose to start off with. Warrior for the earlier HP bonuses, or Magician for the MP bonuses?

Second Job Skills: The same as whichever first job you DIDN’T start with, with a few variations.

Starting Class: Mage said: “Sword Mastery, Mace Mastery, HP Regeneration, Max HP Increase, Power Strike, Slash Blast, and Power Guard.
Obviously one would want to max out either Sword Mastery or HP Increase as soon as possible. More likely the HP increase, because if you’d been a Mage until then, you’d need it… (and have decent magic attack to work with)”
Starting Class: Warrior said: “MP Regeneration, Max MP Increase, Magic Guard, Magic Claw, Meditate, and First Aid, a form of Heal which only heals the user. Obviously all of these skills are worth maxing, but you should have enough points to take what you need. Magic Claw wouldn’t be a NECESSITY, seeing as you’d be more physical-based by this point, anyway.”

Note that to become a Mage Knight, one would take the job advancement test of the class they don’t have- Warriors would talk to Grendel, and Magicians would talk to Dancing With the St- I mean Balrogs.

When making the third job advancement, there would be a dilemma…
Atfer all, you can’t fight both Grendel and Dancing, but you can’t choose one, either.
The Mage Knight advancement is 30 minutes long, and consists of two different rooms.
You fight Grendel and THEN Dances, gathering both halves of the crystal shard you need as proof.
For the second portion of the test, you fight a combination of both of them instead of merely answering questions.
The clone possesses second job skill knowledge…
He or she uses…
– Threaten (Cancels a random one of your buffs. Of course he will probably cast it multiple times, but don’t think you can nullify it by having a Cleric cast Bless or something. He’ll only use it a certain amount of times before he just pulls out a Sparta and wails on you. It’s also unable to nullify Magic Guard, so don’t worry about that.)
– Final Attack (A second attack linked to a first one, which penetrates the invincibility period. Of course you have enough HP to survive this.)
– Fire Arrow (This ‘fires’ straight, in a manner consistent with Star Pixies or the sort.)
– Cold Beam (This comes down like Pianus’ weight attack.)
– Lightning Strike (He winds up first. Just move out of the way)
…And he/she has about eighty thousand HP. Don’t worry- he/she’s no match for you.
If he starts physically attacking, back out of the way and use magic.
If he’s using magic, dodge whatever attack he’s using and get in a counterattack.
You’ll know which one the Mage Knight clone is using based on which kind of weapon he’s using.

After you beat him, the job advancement progresses like normal… of course, that’s nothing to write home about. Talk to either one of the third job instructors, and you got it! They’d give you an HP or MP boost to bring you fully up to par, making it impossible to discern whether you started off as a magician or warrior.

Third Job: Mage Knight
Skill List:

Tritoch Buster said: “The Mage Knight’s signature attack.
Such as a Dragon Knight uses their blue flashy stabby thingy, or blue slashy thingy, a Mage Knight who focuses on strength would be seen using this most of the time. Regardless of level, there are always three strikes, all of which are slashes.
First a fire-elemental attack, then an ice-elemental attack, and finally a lightning-elemental attack.
When the skill level reaches twenty, the skill won’t give an element to a certain attack if the enemy’s strong against it. It would just be a regular slash.
When the skill is maxed at level thirty, an additional Holy-based attack would add as a finishing stab.
This wouldn’t make the attack any slower.
Enemies which have Super Magic Defense or Super Physical Defense recieve half damage from this attack under circumstances which I’m sure the reader can figure out.
– Level 1: 3 elemental slashes, 30% damage. -60 MP.
– Level 10: 3 elemental slashes, 60% damage. -90 MP.
– Level 20: 3 elemental slashes (non-elemental if enemy is strong), 90% damage. -120 MP.
– Level 30: 3 elemental slashes (non-elemental if enemy is strong), 120% damage, finishing holy-elemental stab with 600% damage. -150 MP.”
Impenetrable Defense said: “While in effect, cancels all physical damage recieved. Magical damage taken is severely enhanced, based on the skill’s level.
– Level 1: Lasts for 5 seconds. Magical damage taken: 300%. Movement speed -100%. Cannot use attacks or skills. -50% max MP at use.
– Level 10: Lasts for 50 seconds. Magical damage taken: 250%. Movement speed -75%. Cannot use attacks or skills. -40% max MP at use.
– Level 20: Lasts for 100 seconds. Magical damage taken: 200%. Movement speed -50%. Cannot use physical attacks or physical skills. (Magical attacks can still be used.) -30% max MP at use.
– Level 30: Lasts for 150 seconds. Magical damage taken: 150%. Movement speed -25%. Cannot use physical attacks or physical skills. (Magical attacks can still be used.) -25% max MP at use.”
Magic Cancel said: “Same as Impenetrable Defense, but offers complete immunity against magic, and weakness to physical attacks.
Obviously you cannot use both at the same time.”
Waffles said: “I just threw this in here to make sure you were paying attention.
– Level 1: Summon a waffle and eat it. +23 HP
– Level 10: Summon a BLUEBERRY waffle and consume it with fervor. Don’t forget the syrup! +230 HP
– Level 20: Transform surrounding monsters into waffles. Don’t worry, I’m sure they’re still kosher. +230 HP/monster.
– Level 30: Summon the God of Waffles to destroy your foes with righteous fury. 1337% physical damage, lasts for 666 seconds.
NOTE: this skill does not actually exist. -eats waffle-“
Geomancy said: “Take control of the surrounding environment to use different random effects on nearby enemies, or nearby party members. Effects depend on the map, and could range from Ice Strike around El Nath, to Inferno in the Cave of Trial, Heal pretty much everywhere, to Lightning Spear in the Kerning subway, cause earthquakes anywhere, or even a localized Doom! (Obviously, don’t use it around Lith Harbor. The results would be… unpleasant. And snail-y. Unless you like that. In which case you’re strange, and probably deserve a low-leveled fate.)
– Level 1: -150 MP, 10% success rate.
– Level 10: -120 MP, 50% success rate.
– Level 20: -90 MP, 90% success rate.”
Magic Blade Mastery said: “When a normal Sword or Wooden Club is equipped, that Sword gains strength and begins to look different based on your level and the rank in the skill.
– Level 1: Sword or Wooden Club gains 10 weapon attack, plus 25% of the Mage Knight’s level.
– Level 10: Sword or Wooden Club gains 20 weapon attack, plus 50% of the Mage Knight’s level.
– Level 20: Sword or Wooden Club gains 30 weapon attack, plus 75% of the Mage Knight’s level.
– Level 30: Sword or Wooden Club gains 50 weapon attack, plus 100% of the Mage Knight’s level.”
Element Claw said: “Gives passive bonuses to Magic Claw, along with changing its element to one the enemy is weak against, if applicable. (Requires Lv. 15+ Magic Claw)
– Level 1: Magic Claw +2 magic attack, 22% elemental change.
– Level 10: Magic Claw +20 magic attack, 40% elemental change.
– Level 11: Magic Claw +2 magic attack, hits 3 times. 42% elemental change.
– Level 20: Magic Claw +20 magic attack, hits 3 times. 60% elemental change.
– Level 21: Magic Claw +2 magic attack, hits 4 times. 62% elemental change.
– Level 30: Magic Claw +20 magic attack, hits 4 times. 80% elemental change.”

And there you have it! Maybe I’ll come up with fourth job skills later, but for those of you who’ve read Eternal, I think I’ve spoiled enough for tonight.
…I guess now I’ll have to make a new episode of it. Hm.
Well, anyway, next time I’ll do the fist-fighting (yet surprisingly non-drunken) Random. Prepare for awesomeness in three… two… onnnnnnneee-

  1. good effort. good idea too. maybe maple global will have an exclusive new job. Mage knight, ranger[sword and bow] and etc.
they should have a begginer ability where you can change weapons with a press of a key. Like wand or sword. Sword or bow, etc.
