Family Betrayal – 3

Night and Stars stood on the edge of a pit, staring down at the horde of slimes below. They just stood there when, suddenly, Stars found and opening to the crowd and leaped in. “Showoff.” muttered Night, as he jumped into the pit as well.

Single stars rained from the sky, as Stars continually leaped from area to area. Night ran inside close and walked away as the bonds holding the liquid of the slime’s body broke and the green goo melted away into the ground.

Both of them jumped back from the never-ending army and grabbed the rope and pulled up back to the ledge that they were standing on. They fell to the ground in exhaustion, and retrieved potions from their packs to drink.

“Exhilarating.” commented Night.

<Wait until you get stronger.> was his only reply.

They continued this routine until nighttime came, and they packed their bags and trudged back to a room at an inn Night had bought.

As they entered the hotel room, Night and Stars stared in wonder of the glamor and wealth of this building. Each section of the building was covered with painting and statues, both elegantly handmade.

They took over an hour touring the inn before getting to their room. They both dropped their packs down and fell asleep on their beds, covering it in dust and mud of their training area.

A man, dressed entirely in black, stared through his mask through the window of the inn from a tree. His eyes were slits, and were the only part that was not covered by his obsessive black garments. With a soft noise, he was gone, flying back to Perion to report to his master, Night’s father.
