That’s all……
I’m going to add a little more action in this one.
MAPLE ADVENTURES SERIES 1 PART 4
I was shocked. The symbol of the guild of the most notorious villains Maple has ever seen? That would’ve meant the shadow in the night…. Would he have killed us? Why did he run when we noticed him? The questions never ended.
“What is this thing anyway?” asked Mike.
“From what I can tell, something pretty evil,” said Rowen.
“Because of this.”
She flipped the paper over. What we saw confused us. The back of the paper had a note:
The beginner in our guild is given this paper to prove that he, indeed, is from the Hacker Guild. The almighty Silver Balrog respects this, and will not attack the one with the seal. Assist in destroying all else that doesn’t have the seal of the Dark. Failure in achieving this goal shall be interpreted as heresy and failure. The worst punishment shall be delivered to you upon failure.
~ The Leader
I wondered if Decalure was in the guild. He made it a point to kill all of his tutors in the skills of the Sword. My uncle included. I never knew my uncle much, but my family had declared Decalure a blood enemy. It seemed like we should just move ahead and not think about the paper. That was easier said then done. We were silent for ages. Following the trail, we made it a crossroads, The Split Road. Rowen decided to go on ahead to Amherst and rent a room at the inn for us. We agreed and wanted to go around training further. We got to find a few monsters here and there. Mike and I both leveled up to level 6, although Mike did more damage than me.
“You’d do more damage if you’d just train up your strength more.” Said Mike.
“I already told you, I’m becoming a Cleric. Intelligence over Strength,” I replied.
“Whatever, your life.”
We met up with Rowen in the town square. She had rented a room for us. Also, in the time it took for us to get to Amherst, she had restocked all our items. (I have writer’s block, so I might end this chapter soon.) Mike thought he’d train a little more. Rowen said she’d just go exploring. I volunteered to go with her, because she was currently the weakest in our group.
We went into an area not very traveled. It was brimming to the top with monsters. It took all our strength to get to a safe spot. I tossed Rowen a potion while I drank one. There was a danger sign somewhere in front of the tomato bushes, so I thought we might take a look.
It turned out to be a tomato field with not very dangerous, but still plentiful monsters. We cleared out the area and found a cliff. As we watched the sun set, I heard someone laughing. I spun around. There, on a ledge. A figure was laughing at us.
“Awwww… How sweet. Heh, makes me want to puke,” said the figure.
“Who are you, and state your purpose!” I yelled out.
“Hahahahahahaaha! What makes me think I want to tell you! It’s not very important for a dead couple to know!” said the shady figure. Rowen blushed.
“Come out and fight, you coward!” I raised my sword.
“Your going to wish you never said that!”
The figure stepped out of the shadows. A very tough looking beginner, donning a sword. I raised my sword. Suddenly, the person rushed forward, slashing at me. I tried to dodge it, but he was too good, anticipating my movements. Blood gushed out of the wound he inflicted upon my chest. I was able to catch a glimpse of his forearm. It happened to a mark on it. The same mark that the paper had!
“Are you in the Hacker Guild?” I asked.
“Heh, I’ll tell you this much: The moment you found the paper, you were doomed, and this sword shall spell your fate!”
He rushed forward again, raising his sword! This time, I fake a dodge, he anticipated it again, but not that I would perform a maneuver so complex. Instead of dodging, I ducked, then used the boulder that happened to be behind me as a starting point for a high jump. I brought my sword up to my head and swung it downwards! Unfortunately, the time it took to perform the move was all he needed to dodge. Unlucky for him, I never intended for the swing to hit. I leaped forward, sending a kick into his stomach. I felt suddenly faster and stronger. Power was flowing through my body, bursting open the gates meant to block it. Rowen looked at me and leaped back, startled.
“What’s wrong?” I asked.
“Your Daimaye, its spinning!” said Rowen.
“The Daimaye, eh? Pity it should be wasted on something so petty.” Said the person.
He tried to do a move, using the momentum of the charge to add to his power. I quickly dodged it, only to find that he sent a flurry of blows at me. I dodged those too with amazing ease. He must’ve lost it, because he tried to grab my blade. I pulled it back but not in time. He cut himself in the palm. Then, he picked up his own blade and smashed it on the same boulder. I quickly pulled Rowen and myself out of the way. The stranger wasn’t as lucky. The shards of the broken sword flew into his body. He collapsed, a puddle of blood generating out of his body. The sight of all that blood made me sick. I threw up, the contents of my lunch and dinner ejecting from my body. The death of him could’ve been my fault. I treated it as if it was, sadness leaping through my body. I suddenly felt weak, collapsing. For the first time, I had killed someone. Rowen tried to comfort me, with no avail.
The next few days was a blur of random things. By the time the sadness ended, I had reached level 8, along with Rowen: level 9 and Mike: level 10. We decided to say goodbye to Maple Island, and go to Victoria Island to get jobs and become full fledged travelers.
TO BE CONTINUED………
I hope you liked it. Also, I got rid of my writer’s block along the way. YAY!
