Chapter 5: And the Totally Clichéd Plot Thickens

The fight moved through the entire forest of Ellinia. As they went through the forest, many ancient trees were knocked down, one of them a habitat for many Lupins. When their home came crashing down, one of them made a rather rude gesture.

“Is that all you’ve got? If so, then I don’t need to waste my time on you anymore.” The air around Hethrias started glowing blue, and a seal appeared on the ground beneath him. He threw a dark blue rock into the air and turned it into a glyph.

“Draak so nah, Tenke ness koh,” Hethrias started chanting. The three recognized the ancient dialect immediately. (Guardian of old, I summon you.)

A pair of dark eyes materialized within the glyph, and the glyph started wavering. Then, Hethrias sent a burst of energy that shattered the dark green circle of power. Gatekeeper, a gigantic monster with a ragged cloak, thin arms, and a Cyclopes’ head (also the guardian of the portal from which the Chronos and the Thanatos came from), emerged.

Hethrias’ mouth tightened into a smirk. “I give you a free rein. Destroy those three!” He pointed and the Gatekeeper grew a dark aura.

“For the Warden,” the Gatekeeper said in a deep, bass voice. He raised his arms and a gigantic purple spear flew at the three allies.

“Meso Shield!” Hidekay reached into his pocket on instinct and threw a heap of coins onto the ground. The coins disappeared and a golden bubble wrapped around the three. When the spear collided with the Meso Shield, the resounding force was still enough to blow Hidekay, Spatrix, and Denkera back into a bush.

Denkera retaliated by sending white thunder at Gatekeeper, crashing against its chest and knocking it backwards.

“I’m sorry. I’d love to stay and chat, but duty calls,” Hethrias said. “Oh, and by the way: I’m not being controlled. I chose to become this myself.” The former master of magicians grinned and raised his staff as blue rings surrounded him and fell. The traitor disappeared.

Spatrix spun his Nakamaki around and lunged. The Gatekeeper waved his arms and a horde of Master Chronii [Chronoses?] (to look up that word later) blocked the assault and were sliced in half. The dark monster snapped its fingers and Spatrix was sent flying backwards.

“Spider Web!” Hidekay cried out. A green web fell on top of Gatekeeper. The guardian broke free with ease.

“Meso Explosion!” The explosion did not do as much damage as a fly would’ve done to a lion.

“Shadow Lunge!” Hidekay called forth a shadow that took the form of him and hurled it toward the powerful foe. The shadow multiplied into a legion of shadows flying toward the enemy, daggers up. Gatekeeper simply made a symbol with his hands and a gigantic X sucked the swarm into another dimension.

“Alright, no more of that. Let’s do our ‘Dance of the Three Dragons’ routine,” Denkera said. “All our strongest moves in one blow. GO!”

Hidekay yelled out, “Blade Cyclone!” He lunged at Gatekeeper, blade flying, forming an unstoppable, razor-sharp cyclone.

Spatrix waved his sword in the air, making a thousand swords in the air. “Rose Thorns!” The swords flew down and all sank themselves into the Gatekeeper.

Denkera waved his stave and cried out, “Fist of Righteousness!” and a white gigantic fist slammed onto Gatekeeper from the heavens.

“Fools. I am immortal, so even if you kill me, in a matter of hours I will be resurrected in my shrine within the depths of forbidden time…” The Gatekeeper dissolved.

“Well now that this filler material fight is over due to a certain guy’s writer’s block, lets go to Ellinia and rest. And maybe get tipped off to go to Orbis,” Hidekay said, voice dripping with sarcasm.
