Well, I’m back from another two-month break! What did I miss?
Oh yes…and I’ve given up on trying to complete any artwork. So everyone who is still PMing me for stuff, toss any hope you have out the nearest accessible window.
College is kicking my ass at the moment. It’s getting harder to find the time to play Maple at all between classes, two jobs (I hope that none of you ever have to experience the torture of working 18-hour weekends), symphony rehersals, and the usual ammount of homework-BSing. Oh, do I love the BSing.
So through all this first-semester chaos, I remembered that Maple always has a good Halloween event to cheer me up.
Yea, like Nexon was going to give me that little satisfaction.

Yet weeks after they launch that massive ad campaign, they release the first ever pay-to-play map on GMS.
No need to contradict this logic, it does that on its own.
I remember the very first Halloween on GMS, after my friends and I shed our tears and said our goodbyes to Beta. Ahh, what wonderful memories…killing all those zombies for candy that actually had a reasonable drop rate…I still have the 2005 pumpkin basket and I’ll never sell it <3
This halloween event was a real slap in the face for those of us who have participated in the older holiday events. But then with Nexon in charge now, we should have expected it.
I wasn’t the only one, hopefully, who noticed that there have been no 2x EXP and drop events since those blasted cards came out in cash shop. Go sniff ammonium nitrate if you didn’t, you silly person!
So now we have the first NX-only event. I know that isn’t completely the case, since there are areas available to non-NX players…but this is a very bleak sign of things to come in the future.
And yes, the costumes available in the cash shop are cheap. 1-3k for most of them, yes, I understand. But you are not looking at the big picture here…
Nexon has pretty much guarunteed themselves at least five to ten buckaroos from everyone who takes part in the halloween event, as far as I can see. The minimum ammount you can charge is five, and for us unfortunate souls with no access to PayPal, we have to cough up double that ammount. Slick move, Nexon.
I almost feel like it’s time to move on to a game that doesn’t insult my intelligence. Unfortunately, I can’t find one.
I do love the responses on the website, however <3 So far the announcement for the event has 142 “sweet!”, 44 “Alright”, and 1648 “Not cool”…Tell ’em like it is, Maplers! D:<

For some reason I can’t take screencaps anymore, either. The last ones I can find are from two weeks ago, so I have no idea what happened. All I know is that I click scroll lock, but no screencap appears in my folder. I’ve checked my settings and everything, I’ve even re-installed…and no cheese.
The only bright side I have yet to see with this Halloween event is that since I can’t participate, I can get some homework done.

Speaking of Tokyo Drift, the Driver’s Ed. program here is gonna hook a car up with some airplane tires and a tank of somefin so you can take a skidding program or something. I’mma see if I can do that and flip some $#!77!35 in the parking lot.
And, uh, Nexon America is very greedy. I also wanna know for sure if they’re actually working on MSea too. If so, it’ll probably get corrupt by greedy, piglet ways of money hoarding. 😮

It’s perfect for MS ‘cuz I hardly lag, but there’s always problems with patches and it gets the majority of problems that occur. The bad computer I have is the one I have access to for the weekdays, but everything’s perfect on it! What the hell? >:o

I know it’s a buisness . . . and thats the thing. Right now, I’m the assistant manager at one of my jobs. And if there is one thing I know, its that if the customers aren’t happy, its bad for the buisness. Happy customers = more money the buisness makes. Customer satisfaction has to be a constant if the company wants to stay in shape.

As for the Halloween event; Nexon is just taking advantage of the ability to price discriminate. You have people dying to get into the new maps, and they don’t mind paying, so why not just take that extra profit? You see it all the time IRL too, where they get people to pay extra for say, a pre-order of the latest Harry Potter book. It’s a business, so there’s nothing technically ‘wrong’ with it.
Of course, that doesn’t mean we can’t be mad at it. >>;
But the maps will be released to all after Halloween, so hey. There’s not much of a difference in the long run, is it?

And yea . . . they pulled a very company-like move. I remember at the book store near my house, if you payed the extra five bucks you would get the book the day it came out . . . but lucky me, the day the book came out was the second day of Otakon, and the Waldens inside the dealers room was selling them and they let me use my rewards card ;D
If it turns out that we will still get all of the nice event items when the 31st finally arrives, then I won’t be too pissed off. It just really disgusts me that Nexon would do something this hypocritical after all those advertisements, which they most likely spent cash shop profits on. Maybe it costs them lots of monayz, so they made the event pay-to-play to get their piggy banks full again.
