The Reality of MS Marriage

Since, I’m getting a divorce in the next few days… I’m putting this under bad experience. (Just for in my case – since it didn’t work out.)

There are 4 reasons to get married in Maple story:

1. Your an NX-Wh0re and are attracted to other NX-Wh0res.
2. Items/Loot: APQ & 30 Magic Def. Ring
3. IRL GF/BF or Husband/Wife
4. You treasure the person as a good friend, so much that you would commit yourself to being their best friend and aid them in whatever each other’s needs are. Everything else that comes from being married is a bonus.

And since this being a game, I see alot of #1’s; some people have the money to spend and like to ‘do whatever they want seem to do it in this game, “because they can and its free”.

I myself am a #4. If you work for you money you have a perspective of the worth of every nx you spend. You likely can indulge yourself whenever you want… but you have more control then that #1’s. When I got married I couldn’t be happier; we were both active, both had things in common besides MS, both had IRL gf/bf. It was great! I decided eh! What the heck, he’s a good guy. 1 month later I got us a friendship ring. About half way through month 2; I kicked around the idea of marriage.

But when it came time to get married. It seemed all wrong. He became in active and I jumped 20+ lvls on him before our wedding. I nearly called it off… but after being a good friend to me… I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. And how did I show it to him? By purchasing the $29 wedding and a crush ring to show my affections (AS A FRIEND). I do not mind, me the female, paying – but I do believe in sharing the toll of commitment. (I.E. You pay half, I will pay half!) I decided to take his word that he’ll pay his half later and we would be even closer as friends.

Well… the last 20 minutes of our wedding (40+ Guests showed up) and he leaves with saying a short goodbye saying he had to go to a concert. And from there it went down-hill. He became in-active, vindictive and just straight up insensitive to the kindness I’ve showed him. It drove me to leave my guild and eventually call him out for this divorce. (Among other reasons for leaving guild.) In the end it was some-how my fault. I saw the ugliness that came from him; thats something a person doesn’t have to tolerate OR drama – when your playing a game that is suppose to relax and amuse you!

I think I rambled on enough. A little dis-hearted. But losing a good-friend hurts? I may not have depicted his good qualities and sure a hell not all of his bad ones. Its not about making anyone the enemy. This is just a bad expierence and an end to a friendship.

*Please, do not confuse my concept/reason for being married in a GAME. I believe a good friendship is all that comes of Marriage; not incestuous garbage or anything psychical or things that might lead to IRL events.*

I’ll probably add more to this… but its very early in the AM and a girl needs to get her beauty-sleep!

    I know how it feels to lose a good friend, but steering rather far from the ‘love’ stuff, I have no clue how to respond ;-;

    And that thing about paying for the wedding yourself? That totally sucks, like, a lot of money down the drain. . . ? .__.

  12. I really like what you said about marriage in a game overall being a real good friendship. That’s the way I’d like to think of it; makes the MS life tons simpler. Still, don’t let the whole experience get you down. There’s still so much to do in the game, and it can still be relaxing and fun, even without a marriage. As they say, enjoy life while you’re young.

    I am not ashamed to be an NX ho, however, I adore my husband. My ex can suck it and die, though.
