Fame…what does it mean? Some people think that fame is important and buy fame or go AFK just to ask for fame. For some people, fame either makes you or breaks you. Personally, I don’t really care about fame, but I don’t mind being famed. However, to defame another person is another story.
Defaming isn’t there to be used freely, it’s there for a real reason. It is supposed to be used when someone harasses you or when someone did something mean to you that you didn’t deserve or when you get scammed. It is not supposed to be used for entertainment purposes like when you’re bored. If you’re bored, talk to your friends, but don’t defame some innocent person who did absolutely nothing to you and then laugh and run away or log off. I’m not quite sure why people randomly defame people who do nothing to them. It will remain a mystery except to those people who do that.
I have only defamed one person ever and that was because they defamed me when I was walking by them. It wasn’t even like we were at a hunting place and they were defaming me because I was passing by their territory. No, they defamed me while I was walking by them in…El Nath. -_- Yes, El Nath, a town where many people will pass by you. When the message popped up on my chat screen that somebody defamed me, I was immediately shocked and angry. Why am I defamed for walking in El Nath? Is it a crime? I immediately doubled back
and spotted the person who defamed me. She hadn’t left yet, so I defamed her and continued on my way. Should I have defamed her, some might say yes and some might say no. How I see this, is that if you have the right to defame someone when they didn’t do anything then I should have even more right to defame that person for actually doing something to me.
Another recent event which happened to me yesterday was that I was in the Ludibrium potion shop. I was acting like I was AFK but I really wasn’t. Sometimes I would minimize my window and go do something else and return to chat with my friends for a few minutes. When I opened Maple Story again…I saw to my surprise that I had been defamed! Why was I defamed? I will never know. The person had logged off just like almost every defamer does. I was very angry. Just because it seemed like I was AFK, does not mean that you can defame me. Was I bothering anyone by being AFK? Maybe if you sent me a trade request and I never traded you because I was AFK might make you mad. Well, even if that did happen, you shouldn’t defame someone for ignoring your trade request. Can’t you see that some people might happen to be AFK? Luckily, I got my fame back thanks for my friend (NightBanner). =)
An even more recent event was that I happened to be AFK in Ludibrium today. I was hanging on to a ladder, and when I came back to Maple Story, I saw that I was defamed. Once again, it was another random defame. I was AFK and why was I defamed? When I tracked the defamer…he was in the Cash Shop.
I have compiled a list of all the people who have defamed me randomly for no reason (Yes, I might be weird). I’m sad to say, that there are about 7 people on this list. One day, all those defames will come back to you. It’s called karma and you can’t stop it.

aww, i have been told i was going to be randomly defamed but the guy actually famed me lol. People also said they were gonna defame me for being a warror and not swearing. I mean come on! You can’t expect someone to do whatever you want, and if they don’t defame the person? This is getting out of hand and realy, really , annoying. With you all teh way 100% on the idea.

i read the rest of ur lecture (lol) and it said u got randomly defamed when u AFK and FAFK (fake away from keyboard, didnt make it up). i dunno why but ppl will report and/or defame u for AFK. and thats in maple global and china. the GMs wont ban u for that but will ban the ppl who reported u. but the Maplers still have right to defame u.
ps.i havent play china but it has ALOT OF FRIKEN HACKERS! so im guessing the gms r BAKAS! so yea, the gms might ban AFK ppl,

I have -5 fame, and am rather proud of it. I just think defaming illuminates ignorance on the ones who do it to me.
I, however, have a definate “stragedy,” if you will, on fameing/defameing. If I see someone who looks cool or does a lot of damage (mostly female sins and sins/bowmen respectively) then I will fame them. If I see someone who looks like crap, generally resulting for the cash shop, then I will defame then. You look like crap, and if I saw you, the I would most likely defame you. It is just personal opinions, and you cannot get mad at that. What may be random to you may be very planned to someone else. Remeber, arbitrary accusations illuminate ignorance.
Do not stress yourself out about it. It looks like you are kinda noobish and does not look like you are going to wear any dark robes anytime soon. All the fame quests are stupid anyway, so you shouldn’t do them.
