The FlyFF Noob Strikes Back.

The Noob discovers *drumroll!* … the Mailbox.

(No seriously. Why didn’t anyone tell me that this existed earlier on? D: )

When I logged in for, say, about the fifth time into FlyFF all those weeks back, I was surprised to be greeted with a cheerful ‘ting!ting!’ sound and a nice little white box at the bottom right hand side of the corner saying, ‘New mail has arrived!’

It puzzled me. What mail? No one mentioned anything about an offline messaging system to me. Investigations into the ingame messenger yielded nothing: the little white envelope next to the flashing yellow envelope (‘New mail has arrived!’ It keeps reminding me) gave me nothing but a blank box.

I gave up trying to find out after the third login. Pheh.

Then, on one random click-around in Flaris…

[Station] Dior: [insert NPC Engrish]
Me: Mmm, so I talk to Dior to finish up this quest- Wait. What’s this ‘Mailbox’ option under ‘Trade’?
Me: *clicks*
Me: zomg. MAIL!

Yeah. So I got Lamvao’s “*steals to Lawolf*” message about one week late. >.> Go me.

Other than that, I have gotten more delightful things from that mailbox, thanks to Iepiat. 😀 Thou art thus pounced thankfully upon for the fourth/fifth time for the Penya and other stuff thou hath bequeathed to me. *pounce* Your spiffarifically-good-for-whacking-people’s-head-with +INT Crystal Wand will be preserved in my deposit box forever, after twenty-six levels and four repairs of faithful service. 😀

The Noob on Levelling up.

FlyFF is insanely easy to level up, right now. Just look at me for the past two days: FOUR level ups, one after another.

No, I’m not another insane-leveller *coughs*likeIepiat*coughs*!! It’s the quests, I tell you!
(And the really low level too!)

The FlyFF NPCs tell you to collect all sorts of insane things from the monsters (What say you to ‘Furious Match’ from Mr. Pumpkins? Iono, should we send them for anger management classes?), and since I planned it out such that I start the quests right when my level qualifies for them, I end up gathering drops from monsters that give me decent EXP.

Don’t forget the delicious EXP that they give you when you finish the quests too.(And some of them require nothing more than a bit of flying/running between NPCs). More than once, I totally didn’t anticipate the triumphant ‘LVL!’ music playing out the moment I hit the ‘OK’ button.

So it usually plays out this way:
1) Silsil starts quest. (Actually, more like three or four quests at one go.)
2) Silsil flies off happily to gather items for quest.
3) Silsil has fun gathering the items and counting down the number needed for the quest to complete.
4) Silsil goes through all the usual sorts of things one goes through when you stay in one place to kill creatures for a long time. (*Examples coming right up.)
5) Silsil gathers enough! Celebration all around! Oh, but what is this? 85% Already? O_O
6) Silsil flies off happily to talk to the NPC
7) Silsil LEVELs! 😀

*The Noob said that she’ll give Examples

So I was hunting Red Mantises for Cardrins. EarthspellBASH, EarthspellBASH. (Yeah, I know, it’s not the exact name of that particular spell, but still. The rhythm’s there. :P)

At this moment, one aggro Red Mantis attacks! No biggie, that; calmly, I select the Mantis and hit the Action Slot key, armed with the spiffiness of Earth spells that totally overwhelm them Lightning Mantises.

But before the spells could be cast, another aggro comes along, attracted by the awesomefulness of Silvar.
And it attacks. Whee.

Now, most of you know that Magicians aren’t really built for tanking. In no time, my HP bar was flashing alarmingly and by golly, that stupid cool-down time for HP pots (food, in FlyFF’s case) is so irritating. So there was no way I could stay there and keep on taking damage from two Mantises and still stay alive.

Cue frantic clicking ahead of character to RUN AWAAAY. Silver dashes away accordingly, never more grateful than the present to gulp yoghurt down by the gallons as I hammer the pot key like insane.

Then I had HAD to target yet another Mantis with my frantic (double-)clicking.
The animation of a normal wand bolt plays, the glowing white ball of doom flying closer, closer, ever closer to a Mantis that was happily minding its own business…

I bet the rest of the players were verily entertained by the sight of a little magician girl (in a very short flirty skirt, to boot) dashing away like mad, chased by three murderous giant insects with mad glints in their beady eyes.

The Noob Gripes About v7

So the point system allows me to get all my prettiful elemental spells to a decent lvl right after I level to 27.

What next? I don’t know if I should add more points to any second tier spells, in that absolutely clueless way I always play. Hmm. I mean, I’ve started hitting 1k damage with elemental advantages, even if some certain little magician is already doing that with her Mental Strike…

And there’s all that talk about v7 being absolutely evil to an AoE Elementor, which is what I was planning to muddle my way to. Oh well.

Whichever. Rest assured that I definitely will screw up my character. ;D

ANYWAY. What makes me the maddest is how they removed all those nice quests WITHOUT ASKING ME! >:O How dare they. I had 43/50 some-kind-of-stone gathered too, all waiting for me to exchange them for a nice weapon! And there was this other quest that would have given me a +1 INT ring!

All gone! *grumbles*

And Other Ramblings

So that’s all. If it isn’t obvious enough, I haven’t logged into Maple for a really long time. Doesn’t help Maple’s case that the first attempted connection always fails and I’ll have to restart Maple just to log in. Totally dampens one’s spirit, it does.

And the fact that I still haven’t been able to grind my way to level 70 even after so many months is kinda discouraging, versus the insane rate of levelling in FlyFF.

What can I say? Maybe it is time for Maple SilverFx to take a break and give way to her FlyFF alter ego. :X

Have a cookie for reading up to here~! Sorry for the lack of SSes; it’s quite hard trying to take SSes while fleeing for your life and/or having fun.

  1. Personally, I think the FlyFF female (and weirdly, sometimes male) clothing is too revealing for a free online MMORPG.
    And have you seen female noobs go nude and put htier head to the ground? (Motion) It’s like the creators were horny when they made this game.

    Anyways, I HATED the food delay, until I got Heal. 😛
    Good luck with Maple.

  2. please don’t read this!
    In 1945,a young girl named katu lata kulu came over to America in a grey boat from Africa. A mysterious man killed her by cutting the word “LATUALATUKA” into her back. now that you have read this message she will come to your house on a full moon and steal your soul unless you follow these directions:

  3. Zomgawd, Flyff leveling speed. . .

    I want, I want! My friend says that he leveled from 1-34 in a single week. He wasn’t even playing more than 2 hours a day. If all this leveling stuff is true, then I think I can get to 60 (By then, I may have to grind) in less than a month. Perhaps even catch up to you people if I spend hours a day on Flyff. Now the difficulty is to obtain a half decent computer, hmm.

    And frontpaged =)

  4. Lol.

    It’s definitely easier than MS, but I hate how you have to level to 15 to get your class. 1-15 on Flyff is longer than 1-10 on MS. Although it doesn’t suck as much, because you actually get skills. REAL skills, not some snail throwing junk.

    >_>

  5. Yes . . . . The lvl 5x male magician clothing is rather. . . . .disturbing.

    Wait, WHAT? They removed the ring quest?! How evil.

  6. Wait. . . Silverfx is a girl?! Who else is a girl here?! PIRKID!?

    ~Cheezy (the only man left?)

  7. Ouch. No wonder my head hurts so much. ._. Run awaaaay!

    And look. It’s the epitome of male hawtness. Yeah, most players skip that armor.

    I don’t like v7 at all. =[

  8. Hey now, I like the new point system! I got two new skills with that system! = (
    My mercenary’s comeing along smoothly, even though it’s my first character. XD
    (I messed up my first MapleStory character. =( )
    FlyFF is a ok game, and I’m takeing slow.
    And I think I got on a good start! I have a guild, a guild cloak and all my appropreat mercenary armor, AND I can kill monsters TWO levels above me! ^_^
    Have a good time on FlyFF! (I know I will! =D ) ^_^

    EDIT: Nice pictures Iepiat, *Nervous chuckleing* <.<

    – Little preacher man.

  9. Oi.
    I ain’t a girl, mind you.

    Why do you have push-ups on a quick link button, Iepiat? 0_o

    ~~~~Pirkid~~~~
  10. Flyff is so confusing D: I played for like a month. And I was surprised about the mail thing, too XD
  11. *gringringrin* In approximately five levels’ time, I’m capping STA and going full INT. I shall keep you updated on the damage. ;D
    Come to FlyFF. FlyFF wants your soul.
