Oh hooray, lvl 14 and at 63%! That was my joyful thought when I first logged in on Friday evening. Let us get this FlyFF SilverFx to lvl 15, then we can go on to get that darned job changed; nevermind that some other people who started FlyFF-ing much later than you are already at lvl 2x. The story always unfolds like this anyway.

There is no need to describe the resulting carnage at Lawolves that paved the way to lvl 15. Nor how interestingly FlyFF drops drop: they fly up a frigging tree! link

There is also no need to describe my first death in FlyFF, bestowed upon me by a Giant Pukepuke. (Apparently, as Indescane explains it, Giant aggro versions of the monsters like to appear out of nowhere and ‘buttwhap’ you.) And this time, it wasn’t even my fault: my brother was bringing me back to Flaris to clear out my inventory and wham, I was suddenly dead. link Took heck of a long time to get back to my EXP box (that cute little chest that spawns where you died for you to regain lost EXP) too, because that same murderous Giant Pukepuke was guarding it so jealously.

Then, finally! Level 15. But what’s this you hear?
‘Oi, let me use the computer. You’ve been hogging it for ages.’
Oh. The Brother. Bother. But I want my job change!
‘No! It’ll take ages more!’
Which you admit that it’s true: You suspect that the job change quest is about as epic as that engagement ring quest. Oh, but at least just let me find out how to start!
‘Okay then. But you better be quick!’

Oh. I was quick, alright. The guide that I used so far directed me to Juria, an NPC in Flaris Centre. (Or Flarine Cen or some sort of variation). I quickly ran over and quickly clicked on her and quickly scanned the message that popped up. ‘Oh , are you asking about the job transfer? But I’m not in charge anymore, please go to Leila in Flarine East.’

Flarine East. Oh, okay. By then, I had taken a sort of pride in the fact that I wasn’t getting as lost as I was before, since I’ve sort of gotten the hang of navigation in a 3D world and hey, I know where East is!

So after quickly spinning around on the spot for a few moments, I quickly struck out East. A few quick circles around the place, however, yielded nothing. No Leila. Nadda.

Confused, I returned back to Cen. Just as I crashed into a house, I saw the NPC name flash through the wall of the house. (in FlyFF, light travels through solid objects! :O) Leila!

And she was right next to Juria.

Why didn’t you just direct me to that weird clone-lookalike right next to you?
‘Oh , are you asking about the job transfer? But I’m not in charge anymore, please go to Leila in Flarine East.’
Die, Juria. Just die.
‘Oh , are you asking about the job transfer? But I’m not in charge anymore, please go to Leila in Flarine East.’
GAH!

[At this point, if the more experienced FlyFFers reading this find it strange because Juria and Leila are actually, REALLY in East, please just shoot me.]

So. To Leila. Mmm, click, click, magicians yeah, click, ah okay, I know all that stuff about magicians. Sort of. ‘Look for the magician drillmaster Wingyei in SainCity.’

My mind quickly froze. SainCity? What the heck is that? (You mean there are towns other than Flaris! *shock!*)

Having discovered that Blinkwings were the FlyFF equivalent of town scrolls as recently as two hours ago, I quickly scurried over to the Magic shop and browsed through the small selection of Blinkwings there. Nearest Town, Flaris, SomeOtherCity, Saintmorning. Where’s SainCity?

It wasn’t on the world map either.

However, after I factored in the latest confusion (EAST!) and FlyFF’s notorious Engrish, Gob bless FlyFF’s ultra super creators, I decided: Psh, let’s just try Saintmorning.

And yup, there was Wingyei, after some stumbling around this new town (and lagging from the sudden flood of usernames from the town centre). And I discovered that to please this elusive Drillmaster, you’ll only have to hunt down 15 Captain Aibats, and 10 Small Burudengs… in 7 minutes.

WHAA-AT?! But that’s back in Flaris!

Fast-forward two days to today, with a combination of the forces of Bro-ing and Momming keeping you away from FlyFF.

Okay, you think to yourself. Let’s just go for this quest. 7 minutes. Can’t be that difficult; after all, tonnes of people have done it!

Then again, tonnes of people didn’t have laggy and rebellious computers, like you. They also weren’t directionally challenged, like you.

Shortly after clicking the button to start the quest, you lag for a good half-minute while they teleport you straight back to Flaris. (How sweet of them to save you one Blinkwing at the price of a precious half-minute.) By the time you recover and strike out for the Small Burudengs…

…Time left: 6 minutes. WTH.

Dash to Small Burudengs, killkilllagkill!

Time left: 4 minutes. And you only just finished 10 Small Burudengs. YAAARGH.

And it didn’t help things that you keep on running into obstacles while chasing down that Burudeng, or that Captain Aibat. Or that your computer was so slow, by the time you run to your target, someone already took it. >:|

Time left: 1 minute. You still have four more Captain Aibats!

The last Aibat falls, and SilverFx breathes a sigh of relief and bring up the inventory to double click on the Saintmorning Blinkwin-

Time expired. Quest cancelled. And the screen darkens and brightens again to bring her to Saintmorning. link

Even if this is FlyFF. You could almost cry in mirth.

The rest of the hour was spent trying to look for Wingyei again, to restart the quest. That NPC seemed to have completely disappeared from Saintmorning, though I have not returned to Flaris to check with Leila. Forum trekking didn’t help much: it seemed as if no one actually failed the bloody job change before, since the Search function returned nothing.

So. Some help would be appreciated here. It stinks so much, that you wake up early especially to get your job change and end up failing it so badly. Do I wait another day to do it? Or did I just missed Wingyei despite my desperate roaming of ‘SainCity’?
