FoG-ing: The Ultimate Experience…

… yeah right.

(As continued from Eh.)

16/7/2007 – I have bought a daily x2 EXP card for the 1000-1400 slot, capitalizing on the fact that I have now free time in the mornings (Ya, I quit my day job, whee~) and the maps are relatively Kids-free in the morning because they’re all trapped in school. >D But I usually play more than those four hours, taking whatever time that is necessary to level up or to get to a decent percentage so that I could level up the next day as per scheduled.

It’s supposed to be mad fast EXP and it is quite true. Problem is, it is about 12% per hour with my x2 EXP card, and I kinda don’t think I’m supposed to be at that rate. >>;

I blame my lousy gaming skillz, I do.

I don’t know if you guys have this system in Global, but FoG in MapleSEA has this strange strange map ‘owning’ system where one person and/or guild ‘owns’ the map and has the sole rights to it and all decisions as to who can train on it and who cannot. Those who are training on it on the behest of the map ‘owners’ are called ‘guarders’. And half of the time when I am a ‘guarder’, I have no freaking idea who the ‘owners’ are. >>;

(Note all indication of ownership in apostrophes; I think it’s a silly silly system though it seems to sit well enough with the gangster-types that usually play Maple in the evening when things start to get really competitive in the FoG.)

[h]How to Train at FoG in MapleSEA[/h]

You spawn into the map. Now, don’t just go down and kill the first mob you see. Etiquette demands that you first ask ‘Do you have a party slot?’ (Variations include ‘got slot?’, ‘gt slot?’, ‘have slot mah?’, ‘slot?’, ‘pt?’, ‘PTPTPTPTPTPTPTPTPTPTPTPT’ [Honestly, yes.])

If you are answered with a ‘No, sorry’ (Variations include ‘no’, ‘np’, ‘nope, sry’, ‘full’, ‘FULL’, ‘cc plz’), change to the next channel. Really, you don’t want to stay there after they say no. Read further to date 20/7/2007 find out why.

If there is a slot, then congratulations, you’ll be invited and will thusly act as a ‘guarder’ to the map. The closer your level to the 80-ish regions, the higher the chances that you’ll get into a party, especially if you are trying to join a five-member party. And that means if you’re 95 and above, you don’t count either unless you’re a Priest (aka ‘prz’, in SEAspeak).

However, sometimes a five-member party is more than enough to cover the entire map’s spawn, and you might be told to change channels. Also, if the leader happens to be absent, ‘full’ is used to fend off party hopefuls too.

And since you are only a guarder, once the ‘owners’ arrive, you will have to give way to these people (aka ‘fix’, again in SEAspeak. I suppose they mean ‘fixed’). Or rather, ‘get kicked out of the party without much of any given reason’. That happened to one of my newfound FoG friend, ArchieCarmen when the guild ‘Em0shyt’ arrived at the Channel 1 Map they ‘own’ (*mockitymock at the guild name*), and I didn’t stay long with that obnoxious ‘fix’ party after that.

(For the record, I left on my own accord, because they kept telling me to ‘clear faster’ when I had already finished my lane and had absolutely NOTHING to kill because their own precious ‘fix’ party can’t handle their own spawn, so ha!)

Speaking of which, yes, you have to kill as fast as you can and that means no slacking unless you want to risk losing your slot or rousing the ire of your fellow party members. Usually, the rate at which the golems spawn don’t allow you to chat much unless you want to court death, and so it was pretty much a good way to grind continuously. I think.
[/guide]

Ah yes. And I leveled.

I found it so convenient training at FoG with Rain. :3 I don’t even have to run from those big hulking things: I just climb up the rope/drop down to the platform and hold the Rain key and just watch them silly stone things take the damage, w00t! I clear so fast with Rain that my parties actually allow me to solo the entire first and second level most of the time, especially when the ‘Sins can’t do the first level. ^^ (Rangers with Rain > Sins, yo. )

I also found out how nice it was to actually play with adult Maplers. Even though you have stuff like this in your conversations, it’s much less painful to have to deal with those stupid kids who think they run the place with their cashshop stuff and their friends in high places.

I mean, Mr Bobby there (aka 01Bobby01) is actually 35 years old, married with kids that he had to go afk in the middle of the party to ferry from school, and has a lvl 12x I/L Mage. But you don’t see him running around telling people how pro/’zai’ he is and using that Mage as a KS threat all the time!

Speaking of friends in high places, Tanya there (aka xStYleZx) actually personally knows the owner of Asiasoft. Lawl. He’s making a lot of money, apparently, and no wonder too, seeing how much pocket money these kids spend on A-cash. >D

Other nice people I remember that I didn’t get to add to the BL: SkuLK, Astroben, and uh. My memory fails me.

I do know that there are a lot of students who play truant just to play Maple in the mornings though. Reminds me of someone, hmm? *nudges Imppala*
I find this really sad for some reason. It was even sadder when the son said thus, ‘My mother very good one, she never say me de.’

Hmm.

17/7/2007 – The day when I met THE party. Beargal93, ArchieCarmen and Xx3vil5inxX (aka Tomi) were in this party, and somehow we hit off really well. After knowing that I had worked as a relief teacher for the past few months, they started calling me ‘cher’, (at least Bear and Archie did. Tomi insisted on being creepy for a long while and was hitting on me with the idea that substitute teachers were ‘sexy’) and we were on each other’s buddylists in no time. (I had to delete some people to make way for them though :X)

(Speaking of getting hit on, it was kinda funny how Bear, Archie and I took turns to get proposals from creepy Maple males. It was me on this day, from Tomi, then the next day it was Archie, from a random ‘Sin looking for a gf. We were saying that ‘bear, you’re next!’ and true enough, some Bandit whom Bear was guarding the map for hit on her the nextnext day. Then, uh, it was my turn again.

Honestly. -_-

I think I chatted with the party so enthusiastically that I kinda forgot to use HP pots… and subsequently died at 94-ish%. D’oh.

Managed to recover the lost 8% (I have 8 LUK, yes) and leveled after what seemed like eternity because my x2 EXP had already long worn off. D:

But that was quickly followed by an adventure to the Deep Sanctuary, because Archie needed Tauro horns and the other three of us promised to help her once I leveled.

So off we went~

So like, good thing I leveled. >>; There were too many of these jealous them conspiring to DEFY THE MIGHT AND AWESOMEFULNESS OF SILVAAA- *iz smacked*

>O

In the end, only Bear was any help, since she was lvl 88 and could better withstand the evil EBIL Tauros. >/

Then I went to help Eona transfer stuff from her I/L Mage to her mules (Why does everyone I know have SO MANY MULES?!), and the resulted convo (excuse the Singlish lah) ensued when I PM-ed vvealth instead of vveaith, the latter being Eona’s mule.

[‘ps’ stands for ‘paiseh’ which can be directly translated as ‘I’m embarrassed’ and can be taken as a mortified apology.]

*sighs* Oh, the embarrassment.

18/7/2007 – The Stalker becomes the Stalkee again, and this time it is Luf- I mean, Greenie- nono, I mean… Eh.

Sorry, Greenie, you have too many nicknames for me to remember your real MMOid.

He tried to get to Sleepywood, but died a couple of times trying to do so, so I did a kind deed and made his stalking more easier instead by going to Perion. After all, as a fellow Stalker, I know how difficult and oh-so-annoying it is when your target is so out of reach, like all of you buggers in Global!

Then we bummed around in the Perion potion shop, just chatting until this certain kires came to join us. He was okay at first, until he starting (like any other typical Mapling kid) bragging about his main and stuff amongst other schtiz.

We changed channels to get rid of him (but he arrived at the new channel even before Greenie did ), so Greenie and I both decided to pretend to AFK, and we soon got rid of him. Funny how after he left the shop, he quickly came back in again a micro-second later. I suppose our AFK-ing was a little bit too transparent.

19/7/2007 – You never know how randomly evil caprice strikes in this treacherous map. The leader did not want to party this KSing dumbarse, and he defamed the nearest party member walking past him. >>; (So like, is he a Prince SSnow or a Princess Now?)
Happily, Celestiara, a member from my ex-guild RebOrn, whom I had persuaded the ‘owner’ to add as the last, sixth party member, famed me back when he left the map. ^^ We had a pretty good time catching up right before we had to get back to work, but hey, nothing like meeting long-lost acquaintances.

And fyi, Celestiara is a guy.

Leveled~
I love this SS, because it encompasses all that is cool.
Level up? Check.
Collapsing hulks of stone? Check.
Arrow Rain of DEEAAATTH? Checkcheckcheck.
The Almighty Silvar? Of course. >3

20/7/2007 – What happens if you persist to stay after you are told there are no slots in a FoG map? We-ell.

There was this person who insisted, because he had this idea that he was the owner of the map in Channel Tree when I have been seeing this pair Youske and WwwccC on the same map since Monday. They and I have seen each other around enough for me to get a friendly greeting and a slot every time I go to their map. ^^;

What happened next was a declaration of a full scale KS war with the time set at 6.30pm.
I left hastily before that happened of course. Ain’t gonna drag myself and my guild into a mess like this. But it was kinda scary to watch the two of them plot how to draw on their web of high-levelled friends and even WwwccC’s maple bf so that they can defend their map from the raid. :/

And there are always a few megas in the evening exclaiming about guild-wide KS wars where a guild would try to raid another’s FoG map. And of course, your usual ‘[insert guild name]’s GM, ask your dog [insert offending persons] to CC from my map!’ Smegas are always in plenty, misspelt supply.

Tsh, kids these days.

Cookies for thee, dear reader~

  1. From 74 to 76. Very nice SilverFx! Too bad you don’t play on Broa.

  2. Oh my god. Two of your blogs in a row to read?! I just got done with the last one. ;_;

  3. :X

    Because like, the two blogs combined would have hit 5k words. >< Sorrz for the torment~

  4. Lol. Speaking of substitute teachers, me and my mom escorted one of my subs for an AR class in the 3rd grade to her wedding. It was kinda cool to get to know a teacher out of school. I always thought they hibernated or something in the gymnasium after everyone went home. o_o

    Maybe that’s just the janitors…

    Oh, and by the way: Hermits with Assaulter > Rangers. >D

  5. Oy, I could never stand FoG. You being able to take it and the weird system there, Lady, kudos to you. :p

  6. OH it’s Silver’s blog, no wonder.
    Kids are crazy, stay away from them. Adults aren’t much better, stay away from them too. Teenagers, don’t get me started.
    Guild Wars lol.
    Smells like a fanfic to me.
