Legend of the Ranger – Prologue

I know I know, I said I’d never write a story. But I couldn’t resist T_T sorry for tormenting you all with my bad writing skills.

After I write this I’m gonna write a poem, and either submit the next chapter of this with it, or just the poem by itself. I’ve learned the hard way not to say anything definite about what I will do; I simply change my mind WAY too much for that. So just wait and see ^^

Oh and comments please! If it’s good or bad, tell me. Bad feedback is better than no feedback. I don’t mind if you criticize as long as you don’t flame the HELL out of me, and if you spam, that just isn’t cool.

Anyway, on to the story.

EDIT: ugh, I hate the name “Sam” now. From now on Sam is now Rick, okay? I’ll say that in chpt 2 also.

EDIT 2: (see what I mean about changing my mind?) I changed this from chpt 1 to prologue. So the next one is chapter 1.

Legend of the Ranger: Prologue

Rick didn’t know how it happened. All he knew for sure was that he had entered a strange portal in Henesys and was now somewhere deep underground. He was on a small ledge sticking out from a cave wall. Noises from below led him to look down, and he wasn’t prepared at all for what he saw.

Tauromacis, the guardians of the cursed shrine deep in the Ant Tunnel. Rick now knew where he was, and didn’t like the sinking feeling it gave him. He realized that he might not get out of there alive. But then he noticed something else. A ranger and a female priest were down there fighting the Tauros. After making sure no monster could reach him, he watched, mesmerized.

Rick was a bowman, like the ranger down in the pit, but he was still young and inexperienced. He had not yet earned his title as a Hunter. But as he watched, he gazed in awe at the ranger’s skills, his four arrow attack, and the one that made arrows rain from the sky.

Soon all the tauromacis were down. After the priest and ranger congratulated each other, they turned to leave. But before that, Sam wanted to get their attention.

“Hey, you two, have any return scrolls I can borrow?”

They turned, and for obvious reasons they were surprised that someone who had not yet made their second job advance was to be found in the Tauromacis’ lair. They stared.

“Well, you see, I came through a door and ended up here…”

The priest cut him off. “Oh. Sorry. Yeah, you shouldn’t just go into any random mystic doors, understand? They could lead anywhere, and usually it’s somewhere first jobbers can’t handle. Here,” she said, and handed him a scroll to Kerning City.

“Thanks. Uh, see you around?” Rick realized how absurd this was; he doubted that he’d ever see them again. But what else was he supposed to say? “Bye.” He tapped the scroll’s energy and was instantly sucked into Kerning. Safe.

Over the next few days, he trained twice as hard as usual. After his encounter with the ranger, he had renewed his resolution to one day gain Ranger status and the powers that came with it.
