Numero Un

Jessie woke up with a tear-streaked face. She tried to get up but felt a sharp pain in her side. So she lay back down. She thought of the last couple of months before he had left her. She felt depressed and was sick of it. Her sleeve was stained with blood and her hair was matted down with sweat. Nonetheless, she still looked pretty. She got up slowly, to prevent the pain, and dialled the too familiar numbers. After a few rings, the person on the other end answered, sounding sleepy.

“’Ello?” She drawled in her barely audible accent.
“Hey, Blair!” Jess answered trying to sound cheerful, “Are ya free today? Any plans?”
“Nah, why?” Blair asked.
“Wanna go to that new French place by the theatre?” Jess asked.
“Ah, oui!” Blair answered, trying to sound French.
Jess giggled, “Awesome! Seeya in 5 then.”

Jess opened her walk-in closet and put together an outfit. Carelessly, she put on her red moon pants and her top and put on her crystal earrings. She put on her red moon gloves and put on her red sonata. Out of habit, she brushed her long bangs to one side. Being a sindit (meaning she could throw stars and perform double stab), she tucked her Korean fan into a secret pocket in her glove and wielded her claw. She tucked in her steelies, that Mark had given her (you’ll see who he is later) and headed out into the cold January wind.

Jessie and Blair started walking to the restaurant competing whose breath was frostier. They finally got to the restaurant, and they took a seat.
“Bloody hell, this place is huge!” Jess said, blowing her hair out of her shimmering dark eyes.
“Jessica? Blair? What are you doing here?”
They didn’t have to turn to know who it was. She could recognize that voice anywhere..
