Quang’s magical JQ tips

Quang’s magical jumping quest tips

Long time no see! I haven’t been on MMOTales due to rainfall of homework etc. Anyways, this is my third thriller pack of the. . . MapleStory hot tips!!!

Jumping quests. . . One of the worst nightmares of mapling.

Mentality

I admit this is my weakness of mapling too! I spent a WHOLE DAY jumping up and down, snapping pencils–frustration builds. Giving up jumping quests is the most common thing people tend to do. When the cliché “never give up” gets into your mind, don’t continue doing jumping too long. The combination of “Not giving up” and the presence of your frustration makes things worst.

Concentration
When you’re doing a jumping quest, don’t it when you’re not angry or tense. Tension makes you sweat profusely and deskills your effort. Do it when you’re calm, take a break when you’re starting to get frustrated.

Obstacle benefits (Credits goes to Aurida)
There are obstacles in JQs that hit you. You may be pissed off by this, however, there’s a way of taking a advantage of it. When the obstacle hits you, you will be flung a certain direction. If you’re lucky, you will be flung onto a further next platform, without have to do the “hard way”, by going step by step.
(Read Aurida’s quote to understand)

Charge (Warriors)
When you’re in a jumping quest involved with monsters knocking you off a platform (jr.neckis), there’s a solution to it. Use power guard (Bless for magicians I think) and the knock back rate is reduced. I took screenshots to demonstrate this. By using this, I made a crazy rush that almost made me to the top.

  1. Congrats on level 50, and nice guide thingo. xD I’ll keep the Power Guard in mind when I get to level 30. xD

  2. Gratz, but I have one question. What did you mean by haste helping us? It doesnt work in jump quests, and I think dark sight doesnt work either.

  3. DS and Haste don’t work, sorry.
    Dunno, maybe bowman can ride their birds or something.

    ~~~~Pirkid~~~~
  4. Thieves: Haste, dark sight (especially haste)
    Warriors: Power guard (read further below to understand)
    Magicians: Bless?
    Bowmen: none?
    Well, no. Bless doesn’t reduce the recoil rate- it merely ups Defense, Magic Defense, Accuracy and Avoidability by its current level. And you do mean Clerics — Neither kind of Wizard gets Bless.
    As pirkid stated, Dark Sight and Haste both don’t work within jumping quest maps (Haste actually does have an effect, look in your stats screen, but the map nullifies any and all bonuses to Speed or Jump.)
    Power Guard is the only skill that could actually help with jumping quests. (other than the rumored 4th job skill Inspiration, which gives a 40% chance of avoiding any hit.)
    Of course, those so-called ‘invincible’ enemies aren’t invincible after all- A Fire/Poison Wizard or Mage can poison them to death. Seeing as they merely respawn elsewhere on the map, this is of no tangible benefit whatsoever, but it does help vent frustration.
    Also, coming from a PQ enthusiast, you missed a crucial tip. Most obstacles will always knock you back in a specific direction. (Think the Kerning City lazers. The horizontal ones bounce you to the left, while vertical ones to the right.)
    In my experience, the only exceptions to that rule are monsters within the jumping quests, and the thorns in Sabitrama’s quests, AKA level 3 and 8.
    The spores in John’s first quest (Level 1) bounce you in the direction that they are moving.
    The shuriken in John’s second quest (Level 4) differ. The Wolbis which travel vertically knock you to the left, while the Mokbis which travel horizontally knock you to the right.
    The axes in John’s third quest (Level 7) are only partially unpredictable. They hit you according to which way they’re moving, but depending on where they are in their axis when you’re struck, you may be hit high and only slightly to the side.
    The lasers in Shumi’s first (Level 2) and second (Level 5) quests were explained above.
    The electrodes in Shumi’s third quest (Level 6) will bounce you to the right if you’re hit by the shockwaves, but they’re unpredictable if hit directly by the discharge.
    The bananas thrown by Lupins in Shane’s forest (Levels 3 and 8) hit you accordingly to which way they were thrown. It’s also worth noting that you should absolutely never change your resolution on these maps, because it twirks their pattern while keeping the old one.
    The obstacles in the Zakum jumping quest (Level 9) will all bounce you to the left, with the exception of the lava which speeds your travel.
    Hope that lengthy digression helped. 😉
  5. I think it counts more like a Solo Quest.
    I coined the term! xD.
    But, seriously. A solo quest has you doing certain tasks in order to clear it (in example, breaking boxes to get items) that closely resemble Party Quest tasks, but without the party.
    A jumping quest involves getting from point A to point B.
