Faming.
I believe the fame system in MS should be abolished.
Why?
In a vast majority of- let’s say: “bad” maplers, use defaming as immature weapon to irritate others or for no reasons.
If you’re picked on someone or they pissed you off. . Why not defame them and run away? It’s makes you feel better! If they fight back then bring your friends and mass defame them, to teach em’ a lesson!
Wrong.
This is what thousands of maplers do- hit and run~
A person I argued with in BasilMarket, he replied that “faming was used to show gratitude and thanks from another person, if you were helpful to them (It’s like “karma” points o_o). .”
However, can’t we show our thanks by giving items instead? After all it’s moreless the same thing!

There’s no faming system in:
Runescape
WoW
SilkRoad
RagnarokOnline
etc. .
And these MMORPGs function well without it!
Or maybe it’s because Wizet wants distinction. .

Faming system is what makes MS unique, yes, there are some people like that. But most times, when you meet a person, train with them talk, and fame each other, that’s a good thing. You sound like the American Media; only expressing 1 idea or opinion.

the only thign stupid about the Faming system is like, you fame someone like 3 times and you cant fame them for another month.
I kinda concur with this idea.
Yesterday, I was sharing the Sakura Cellion map with some warrior, killing Cellions and being careful not to KS the warrior. Then two newbish magicians come up and start clawing at the Cellions and telling me to “CC YOU B!TCH” (yes it was a real quote). I coolly tell them that I was there first, and the warrior backs me up. So then they say “wow level 54 u rly need 2 get a life.” I was shocked at their audacity. When I ignored their continued insults, both of them defamed me and cc’ed. Hit and run, no? However, I immediately tracked them and reported ’em for harrassment ^^

@the Blog: I like the faming system. Sometimes, you just can’t thank someone enough, and not everyone has the mesos to buy items for someone else in Maplestory, and guess what I’d use instead? Yep, fame.
Makes people happy when you fame them, and I don’t even have to shell out any money.
Of course, the defame thing is stupid. But I never use it, and I don’t usually run around getting defamed, except for once or twice which were really REALLY random. But, uh, I guess if people are really POed and can’t find a better way to punish the evildoer (damn, why can’t we reach across the screen to GIVE THAT IDJIT A BIG FAT SLAP!), then ta-dah, defame.
But if the fame system is stupid, then why are you, or anyone else for that matter, so concerned over it (especially when they get defamed)? That shows that people actually CARE about their fame sometimes, and maybe some people might be less inclined to be nasty when threatened with defame.
So uh. I like the fame system. Other games may not have them, but their game mechanics (or wuteveryoucallem) are really different. For example, FlyFF (since that’s one other MMORPG that I play) has insane drop rates and a different party system, so it’s easier to repay others through items and plvling, thus the absence of a need for fame.
I will stop rambling now.
@SilverFx: You’re right. Only 1 fame per month; to that particular person. Faming System is fair, same with all classes of the game.
We have no rights to complain.

GMs mainly aim for hackers since they ruin their business blah blah blah and destroy other mapler’s experiences blah blah blah.
But scammers, harassers, rapists o_O etc. DO THEY GET BANNED?
There’s THRILLIONS, God knows how many there are of these people in MS, yet, how many have been banned?
Once Quackie boy was harassed by this duck hater, and so he defamed me. I heard some girls ranting about him for harassment too, so I reported him.
Few days later, I still see the brat clawing in Maya’s -_-

I kind of agree with you. People are being reported for hackers everyday for the simple fact that they have low fame. ._.

I personally LOVE fame. I was once mass defamed by a guy who said I was ugly, when I was like Lv 19 Archer very generic o0 I went down to about -14 fames o.0 But you take the good with the bad. My main now has 300 fame even (Lv 81) It isnt the greatest but it feels nice. And my best friend whose level 89 has only about 180 fame but she doesnt care o.0 I think the fame system is good for the fact of recognition. You could have 1k fame and be a total dickwad, but still your out in the MS world, your name is known. You know? o.0
