Betrayer of the Light: Prologue

Betrayer of the Light: Prologue
As he stared down at the bloody remains of what had been his friend, Natas the Lightbringer remembered the last moments of their last fight after he had found out that Jordan had betrayed him and stolen his custom made Thorns.

*Flashback*
Jordan teleported away as a holy arrow passed through the space where his head had just been. “Haha! Missed me you fool!” jeered Jordan. Then Jordan had hit Natas with a coldbeam and froze him where he stood. “You were never better than me,” said Jordan, “and you never will be!” Those words opened a floodgate deep within Natas as Jordan walked away. Natas started to feel a tremendous surge of power that he had never felt before. He started to glow with a blackish light and the ice encasing him shattered, but Jordan still ignorantly walked away with Natas’ thorns. Natas drew on his holy bow, which had somehow turned black, and shot a black glowing arrow straight through his friend’s heart. Jordan turned around and looked at Natas and opened his mouth to say something, but only blood came out. Then Natas shot him a second time, straight through the middle of his forehead. Jordan collapsed on the floor, his blood staining the wooden floor of his house as Natas shot even more arrows into him. Arrow after arrow pierced Jordan until he was barely recognizable.
*End Flashback*
Natas walked picked up the staff that Jordan had been using and saw that it was his Thorns. Suddenly, he heard a rustling at the window and turned to look. There was a shadow crouching on the windowsill, and even as he looked, the shadow disappeared and he could hear footsteps heading away from the house. He picked up his staff and left the house.

Meanwhile…

“@#$%!!!!!!” shouted Jasmine as a tauromaci hit her with lightning. She quickly downed an elixir and shot the tauromaci in the head with a soul arrow from her Gross Jaeger. As the tauromaci collapsed in a heap, Jasmine launched two soul arrows in rapid succession at the dark clone of Athena Pierce, her job instructor. After four double-shots, Athena summoned two more tauromacis. Jasmine was getting annoyed, so she killed one and left the other while she tried to finish off Athena. After what seemed like ages, Jasmine shot one last double-shot at Athena and picked up the black necklace that Athena dropped. As she was getting ready to leave, a bolt of lightning came down from the sky and hit her directly in the face. The sudden flash of light blinded her, but she remembered where that last tauromaci was. She turned and shot blindly, and heard a grunt of pain followed by a thud as the tauromaci fell to the ground. Afterwards, she groped around in her bag for an elixir, which she quickly downed. Then she sat down on the ground and waited for her vision to return. Five hours later, she was still sitting there, but her vision wasn’t coming back. Then it struck her that she was blinded for life. At first, she was pissed at herself for not killing off the last tauromaci. The she started sulking, because she though her entire career as a Sniper was over before it even began.

Suddenly, Jasmine heard a voice in her head Don’t try to see. Try to feel the life around you. Try to feel your surroundings with your mind, and try to picture it.

“Who is this? Why are you speaking in my head?” exclaimed a startled Jasmine.

I am what has happened and what is to come. I too am blind, but I have learned to sense my surroundings and have seen like I have never seen before. Here, let me show you.

Then Jasmine felt a flood of experience flood into her mind. She suddenly knew how to feel her surroundings like the voice had told her, and she saw the world in a whole new light. She could sense life coming from around her, and she could sense the gaps in this web of life. Within the next hour, just by sitting there, Jasmine was able to perfectly form a picture of her surroundings in her mind. She stood up and started walking back to Henesys, where she was to receive the Necklace of Strength from the real Athena Pierce.

One hour later, Jasmine stepped off the boat in Orbis and started heading to the Orbis Tower. Once there, she used an Orbis Tower Scroll to go immediately to the bottom. Once there, she walked into the frozen town of El Nath and went to see her third job instructor. Her third job instructor told her that she still needed the Necklace of Wisdom, which could only be received from the Sacred Rock in on of El Nath’s many valleys.

After many hours of looking for the Sacred Rock (and walking into a couple walls, and almost off a cliff, because she was not yet perfectly used to walking around blind and sensing her surroundings), which demanded a dark crystal from her, she was in possession of the Necklace of Wisdom. She headed back to El Nath and ran to her third job instructor. After listening to a long boring lecture from the instructor, she was surrounded by a golden aura that signified her advancement from a Crossbow-woman to a Sniper. Her instructor then handed her a book that would teach her the skills of a Sniper. “But you can only learn three parts at a time. For example, you can learn one part of strafe, one part of arrow eruption, and one part of ice shot. The total amount of parts you are learning can only add up to three at most. Its up to you to choose to learn which skills you want to learn first.” Lectured Jasmine’s new job instructor.

Feeling satisfied, Jasmine left the third job instructor building and tripped down the stairs. Cursing under her breadth, she extended her senses so that no more accidents would occur. Then she realized that there was a steely throwing star sticking out of the wall right above her head. She quickly found the source and aimed her crossbow at a shadow on top of the third job instructors’ building.

“Put the weapon down Jasmine.” Said the shadow.

“How do you know my name?” demanded a shocked Jasmine.

“I know a lot of things about you.” Said the shadow, “after all, I’ve known you for over 16 years.”

Suddenly, their was a huge roar and two crimson balrogs flew down from the sky. Jasmine turned back towards the shadow, but the shadow was already on the move, drawing two Kandines, one in each hand, and lunging at one of the crimson balrogs.

As this is my first attempt at a story, I will accept all criticism, it doesn’t even have to be constructive.
