~Chapter 7~

Jason woke up; the beams of light creeped through the tower into his eyes. He rolled over, landing face first into a pile of snow. Sitting up, he started to brush off the snow and look for some backpack for some food. Pulling out an oatmeal bar, Jason took a bite out of it and looked over a platform to see a pair of what looked like white snowballs with fur, floating around and singing in high squeaks. Not wanting to disturb them, Jason snuck by across the side wall of the tower.

Opening the next door, two more of this “snowballs” noticed him, but these were much more aggressive, and started to charge. In a quick reaction, Jason attempted to case Magic Claw, until he realized that he was trying to cast magic with an oatmeal bar. The snowball slammed into him with a great force, throwing him off-balance. Jason took his sword, charging energy and shooting a bolt of lightning of each one, killing them. “They were already weakened…” he said out loud, “…someone was here before me.” He took some small coins they had dropped and ran to the next door.

The next door had confronted him with a very large flight of stairs, going for the next 3 or 4 floors. Quick to think, he cast an ice spell to freeze the stairs, making a huge ice slide out of the stairs, which he jumped on and slid down. Jason got up and opened the next door. Light from the outside poured into the tower, along with a cold chill that swept up his spine.

Looking around, Jason noticed a mage hooded in black, running towards the town they called El Nath. He decided to chase the mage down, but it was too quick and started to teleport towards the town. The mage walked into a weapon shop, taking off his hood, revealing ‘he’ was a ‘she’. Her black hair, streaked with a dark violet, extended down to her waist, and she shot a glance at the shop owner with blood-red eyes. The owner laughed happily.

“Misery, Misery… Misery! I never thought I’d see YOU again, of all people!” He said. She let out a “Hmph” and turned her head away from him. He smiled and looked at her; “C’mon, you used to love hanging out here!” She turned her head and shot an even stronger glare at him. “Forget about my past… *I* have.” He sighed and laughed. “Well, I can’t… you were such a sweetheart, Misery!”

She stared at him for a second, letting out an awkward silence, then sighed. “How about I give you a picture of me from back then? Then maybe you can jerk off to that and leave me alone for the rest of my life!” He shook his head and took an Evil Wings staff from the back closet, putting it on the till. “You came here, and I expect that you came for this.” She took the staff with her left hand, putting her old Thorns on the till with her right, along with a large wad of 100k bills. “At least you got one thing right. Keep the change.” She said, walking to the door and leaving.

“See ya, I guess…” he said to himself quietly.
