A Hero’s Struggle ~Ch. 1~

[h]Author’s Thoughts[/h]
Hello MMO’urrs?

Lol, this is a lotta author’s note so if you want you can just move right down to the story! Follow the blue!

Woot, I’m finally releasing chapter 1 of the re-written version of my fan-fic.
This is an adventure epic that will take you into the character’s mind as he stumbles through challenges he must complete to save the world and maybe along the way find out who he really is.
A story filled with mind-blowing action, mystery, comedy and some romance later on.
No name will be given yet, as the character himself does not know. (One will be revealed later in the story)
TO RETURNING READERS:
First of all I must say thanks to all people who read the old version of this story (which only topped 16 chapters) and
I would especially like to mention fans who inspired me, helped me, and became attached to my story:
Dee32693(me no know numbers, she was my number one fan though),
basmo (read them all later on and said it was great),
Ganzicus (who encouraged me early on by liking them!)
BlackNazgul(who wasn’t really famous for stories yet but it was awesome to receive good comments from a fellow writer)
I would suggest that you read this story once again as there will be some new content added and you might get lost
later if you don’t, also some chapters might be changed a lot

So I hope a lot of people enjoying the new beginning and settle into my story (Free bean bag chairs!)
Suggestions are always fine as long as they have explanation to them
I shall try to release chapters at a decent rate and be warned that some might be long!
This ones pretty short though! *f3*

Okay, so on to the story, (I’m really sorry but this story doesn’t involve muffins! T.T)(*millions of people leave*)

[h]Chapter 1: A Shell-shocking Explosion[/h]

My existence is of time
A chain that eternally binds my spirit
But yet I am everywhere and free
The contents of my soul thrive with everything
A champion that struggled to achieve peace
And made a legacy through his journey
Learning about myself as I took unexpected turns
Making my last turn at a never halting road
Surviving and echoing on forever

The life of the wind traversed through the mute darkness of night. The moon and the millions of stars spilled across the vastness of the black, overhead sky were the only lights that dully lit the world. The rushing breeze continued on into various directions and one of the streams of air flew straight over to my dozing figure. It climbed through my hair, whipped through my body, and continued on. The gale suddenly interrupted my sleep, my eyes snapping open.

A groan broke the silence as I stretched my appendages out. I noticed a fierce gust was billowing and that light had not leaked into day yet. Instantly, I tripped over an object on the ground. I had fallen backwards over my house, which was a cardboard box large enough to hold me. I sluggishly lay on the ground, simply resting there with my tired eyes barely open and in no hurry.

I was never in a haste because days didn’t matter to me. Every day nothing happened, the scenery barely changed, and I mindlessly wandered through the empty lands dragging my box, which acted as my shelter, along with me. I was surviving only by consuming the many fruits that were attached to tree branches. I was my only company and my mind convinced me to live on, hoping that there was something just like me somewhere else and that was the only reason I tread through the flat plains and tree-infested forests of this land. To my knowledge, I was the only person alive.

Slowly, I pushed myself up and observed the silhouettes of trees surrounding me. Darkness still reigned supreme at this time and the illuminance of the shining lights of the sky were blocked by the canopy above me. I grabbed one end of my living quarters and with my eyelids half closed, began my pointless walk. The box made a droning noise as it was swept, by my hand holding on to the flap, over pebbles, plants, sticks, and anything else that the environment had disposed on the soil.

The process maintained as the night was pushed away by day. But something occurred that day, completely changing my regular way of life and bringing me to another world, where I had no idea who I was. It all happened with a creature that had dragged itself into my way. A critter, with a red shell acting as it’s only source of protection, stood in front of me with its eyes, which were tied to a slimy tube that was it’s body, pointed at me. Those eyes then scrunched up into a hateful glare.

What the hell? Oh s***! the thought was quickly disrupted as I ducked under an amazing leaping tackle from the gazing snail. The opponent sailed towards a large tree behind me and in seconds a light flashed into the atmosphere as the escargot collided, missing it’s original target. A growing fire escaped from the snails crushed form and the impact of the explosion flung me backwards, sending my feet off the forest floor. I soared in an arc through the air and landed sliding speedily on my back. After an uncontrollable and peculiar ride, I finally came to a halt and sat up. I shook my head and blinked my eyes a few times, not believing what had just happened.

No! My box! Why didn’t I get house insurance! ? I mourned over my destroyed box, split into multiple, tiny, brown pieces that were snowing down. A tree with a huge part incinerated out of it and the burnt markings on the ground were the only other signs of the eruption. My clothes may have looked like they had been extremely afflicted from the abrupt situation but they were only a little bit more messed up than before. The only detectable difference was my ripped grey shirt now had a huge dirt stain on the back and was slowly absorbing blood trickling down from long cuts.

Well, that certainly isn’t your normal every day snail! I concluded. Another snail, who had snuck up on me, sprang at my face. I hurriedly grabbed a stick lying on the ground and swiped in an upward curve, smacking the snail and causing it to travel into a tree beside me. I kicked my legs up and dove away, anticipating another catastrophic explosion, but all the sound waves that my ears interpreted resulted in a splattering noise. I peeked a look at the tree and saw that a section of the bark was concealed in a white gunk and on the ground perched a red shell, with small cracks visible on it. I sighed in relief and contemplated Why didn’t it explode? Maybe there was only one like that? Maybe the snail that went boom was just having a very bad day? Eh, I don’t like this!

Again, a snail came zooming at my head and using my fast reflexes I caught the snail, and hung it over my head. My straight face morphed into a smile because of having just foiled the snail’s plan of killing me with a fastball aimed perfectly at my head.

I screamed at it in a comedic way giving myself a laugh,”WHO SENT YOU? ! WHO DO YOU WORK FOR! ? TELL ME WHAT YOU KNOW!”

After having my fun I casually tossed it back over my shoulder and then an incredulously resonant sound rocked my ears. F***, okay, now I know something’s going on.

I turned my head to the side and my eyes stretched wide open, displaying shock. Thousands of shells were whipping through the air at me with impossible speeds. I managed to elude one aimed at my head and another one grazed my side. Explosions started going off everywhere as the missiles bashed into trees. The place filled with roaring sounds, ringing repeatedly throughout the forest, that were accompanied by clouds of fire appearing all around the field. Recovering from stupor, I darted away while evading waves of shells torpedoing at me. I had no time to think and my mind was in panic, a feeling I was experiencing for the first time.

The trees were my only source of cover as I kept sprinting, praying I would not get struck. Gradually, the living bombs began becoming fewer. Not staring at the ground I tripped. A stupid fall to make when snail bombs were raining down at you, but I clumsily went tumbling down to the ground, which now contained ditches everywhere.

Positioned helplessly on the territory, I struggled to get back up. A wail of agony escaped from my mouth as my back gripped me with more hurt. I hopelessly checked the area, trying to find where the stripes of zooming red were coming from. I glimpsed a figure off in the distance that moved in a blur and a black shape was all I could see. The explosives drew closer to my coordinates, as the assassin’s aim was becoming more accurate. Fearing that one might favorably hit me, I began clawing the ground furiously, determined to escape, and a descending slope soon aided me by accelerating my progress.

As I hit the incline, my body yanked itself sideways and the force pushed me down into a rolling formation. Dirt fired into the air after massive torches of hot blazes would flare up caused by balls of red that would come streaming by and plant themselves into trees. Embers bounced everywhere across the timberland like they were dancing to a tune at a fun party. Wheeling down the incline at a steep rate, trees fell all around me, some almost flattening me. The world twirled around me. A flash of blue, brown and green represented the trees and sky and then a moment of black would fill my vision as the ground raced by it. Colors spun around in my head, which was not sure wether it was coming from the movement I was experiencing or if a head ache was organizing itself in it’s space.

Bumping along and the world whirling around in loops around me, my brain waves were overlapping each other. I was unsure of what was occurring and was trying to fight off all the thoughts flying into my head. A new world was about to be unlocked in my mind, a reconstruction in my intellect that would leave it ready to burst. Right now though, I was just wishing to get out alive out of a situation that would soon open a civilization to me.

My body dropped of a small cliff of mud, and landed on a lower platform, finally coming to a ceasing of drive. I lay there dizzily and caked in a cocoon of mud. Oh man, that was one hell of a ride. It’s got everything: speed, obstacles, and raging snails of terror! With that, my eyes closed and my mind followed suit, dismissing me into a grave, unconscious state.

  1. First to read, and might I say, this is way better than the old chapter 1. However, flying snails of terror seem a bit far-fetched. And I don’t see how you can go to sleep in a second right after escaping death.

  2. Oh yeah, by the way, that poem in the beginning is my own creation
So does anyone like my poetic skills?
It coincides greatly with the story
