2. Trickster is a point-and-click. People who play MS typically prefer the straight-forward, press-a-button-and-attack mechanic of MS. Also, there’s more strategy in MS: Heal, jump, attack, uncurse, heal, skill, In Trickster, it’s pretty much just click, use a potion every now and then for the beginning of the game. Not so easy to jump into, unlike MS. You have made some strong points, however, the game isnt that hard to run: download launcher, open launcher, download full game, and as for the drilling system, it’s just to retrieve items. It takes awhile before you actually come across something USEFUL. Again, you have made strong points, a good read, however, it’s not enough to get people to jump into the game. If you were too mention how the classes differientiate largely from eachother, or the massive amounts of quests, you may have persuaded a few people to pick it up. I also see how you left out the fact that the tutorial is an hour long tedious. As for the story, it doesnt really impact the game. MS has the same amount of storyline: In Trickster, you’re trying to find some mogal’s money, in MS, you’re trying to rid the land of monsters. You’re also leaving out the social aspect of the two, MS being the heavier. In MS, it’s geared around making friends and doing stuff with other people, however in Trickster, you can just go off and do your own thing. And I find it a lot harder to find friends, location wise, when first starting the game. Usually, when one starts a game, they dont know the map, so it’s a lot easier to get lost in Trickster. Too easy. Again, a good read, just make sure you have the all facts before you compare great games like this.

   uh, the tutorial is not an hour long or tedious. I finished it in 15 minutes on the first try

   I didn’t mention the massive amounts of quests since i never really do quests in any MMO games

   and MS has no storyline whatsoever. All you do is “hunt”.

10. clicking sucks! it reminds me of runescape ugh. Are there any cheap means of transportation around the vast maps? (in runescape i had to wait for half a month before my magic was strong enough to allow me to teleport, and 3D games need hours to travel from one side of the world to the other) If there aren’t any, no way trickster is even gonna hold a candle to maple story. Also, Maple Story has jumping quests and Party quests, which I’m pretty sure trickster doesn’t.

13. Didnt say it was an essay, didnt say it was a rant. Just furthering the comparison of the two. i hate online tutorials, i always know what to do but I dont want to miss anything. MS does have a story line, if you did a little reearch you’d know that. And just because you dont do quests, doesnt mean other people dont. Not to be flaming here, but I dont really care for people who advertise their posts in a comment for their own post.

    Good point about Trickster vs. Maplestory, but the problem is I really do have very little tolerance for poin’t-n-click-n-that’s-it in games. I play MapleStory not so much for the depth, but for the action battles, and the friends, and the noobs are actually fun in some cases. *lovespwningnoobs*

20. Hmm. Trickster seems based mainly around killing and drilling for items. Oh well, I’m still downloading it to try it out; it’s at 13% right now. There’s one answer I couldn’t find at the main site. Are there multiple servers, or is there just one since the game is still small and in its Beta version?

26. Meh, trickster follows the same basic mechanics that almost every other MMO I’ve played has. Maple story is nice because it’s actually different, in that it’s side-scrolling/platform based. Everything else is all the same to me.

    Trickster may be more in depth persay, but there are so many other games that I would rather play if I wanted to play point-and-click. Maples is just, in a catagory all it’s own. It’s like comparing apples and shrimp — it depends on what you’re in the mood for.

    Just my two cents~

    And this website is about MMORPGs. Trickster is an MMORPG, thus i can post about it on this site. ANd in no part did i brag about me quitting MS. I just said i quit. . .

30. Most beta MMOs have bad grammar. So do most MMO players.

    In fact, the trixter NPCs have better grammar than Kaiba525, so if you can read what he writes, you’re fine.

    I actually like games that require time to get between cities. WHy? Brings me nostalgia

    I mean, in tales of phantasia i was told to go east and i travelled halfway around the world west . A real RPG gets you lost .

    ANyway, yes, there are teleport NPCs and teleportations items. Unlike MS, the teleportation item allows you to choose where to go before it gets used.

    Trickster may not have JQs or PQs, but they have event quests. These event quests require you to have a party and it uncovers a storyline (event quests are not GM events, they are a normal part of trickster)

    And on terms of music, well, i get sick and tired of MS music (altho i like Omega Sector Music )

33. kinda sounds like aero2 which is a type of ragnarok. i quit ro cause no one was playing but it seems a lot alike the graphics are kinda the same too o_O

34. Eh, It’s a lttle slow, got pretty boring, only played for 2 minutes max so I’ma play more. It takes forever to patch.

    Both games are made by Ntreev, and they have an online golf game, PangYa.

    PangYa seems alot better than Trickster though.

    More colorful and exciting than Ragnarok.

    If you are to determine noobiness by level, then let me tell you that I have a level 67 fighter in scania. I know that’s a low level, but keep in mind that I was a beta tester.

    Usually, proness is determined by seniority than level. There can be a level 78 noob-arse mage and a level 36 genius archer. I’ve seen it. I’ve bought a 10% glove atk scroll from a 5x mage for only 500k.

    Anyway, MY seniority on MMOTales has decided that YOU are the n00b. Deal with it for it is the sad truth.

    And incase you don’t know, this topic is posted UNDER the trickster section of this site so you can just suck it. ok? ^^;

44. I played for 6 days and got to lvl 52. But it gets just as repetetive as MS. And now that my DK in mS has lvl 21 Buster (attacks 2 monsters 3 times) I’ve got way more addicted to MS. TO is worth it, but don’t delete your MS chars before it. Some people like, some people hate =/

45. I’ve played Maple Story too much. Thus, I cannot adjust my eyes for any other games. I.E. Trickster, FlyFF. God damn, I can’t even read what people say on GunBound without being confused like crazy. -.-
    MS = Simple.
    I can’t even imagine leaving all my bestest online buddies on Maple Story for Trickster. (:
