The Defilers- The Chief’s Escape

The Defilers- The Chief’s Escape

Location- The Sea of El Nath
Date- Unknown.

It was cold. That is how a war veteran whos set beginning to a new war could describe the Sea of El Nath. Chief Warrant Officer Cipher Alpha couldnt remember how long he had fought to protect and survive. He was tired, cold, hurt, and hungry. Occasionally he found rations that the Defilers ate. Thats what he called these mutated monsters.

The Chief had fired the last of his MA5C ammunition clips into a Taurogunner, the infantry of the Defilers. After he slung the assault rifle he picked up the chain-gun that the Taurogunner had. He hiked down the path, hoping that there wont be any other Defilers popping out of hiding places. To his luck a Liquid Snail had popped out of nowhere. He fired the chain-gun at the snail. It died after the first two shots hit. Bad move. Even more Defilers came out of nowhere. Taurogunners, Red Golems, and Liquid Snails. Squeezing the trigger of the chain-gun he fired a spray of bullets against the enemies. Liquid Snails went down easy, Taurogunners not so much. A blast smashing against his chest sent the Chief flying backwards. His vision was a blur. After a few seconds he saw that a Taurogunner was equipped with a gauss-cannon.

The Chief got up and ran towards a quarry of rocks. His shields recharged just in time to take blasts against a hail storm of bullets. He got behind some cover and breathed rapidly. He started to doze off but banged his helmet to keep the fatigue away. He climbed the rocks at his right to escape.

After a few minutes of running he slumped onto the snow. He was out of the open but he didnt care. He needed sleep.

He was nowhere. He looked forward, left, right, backwards, and up. Nothing. He was floating, but it didnt seem like it. He saw something afar suddenly. It was a young female.
“Hey!” he called out. “Who are you?” She turned and stared at him. Then she smiled. She turned and started to walk away. “Hey! Answer me!” He reached out, as if he didnt want her to leave. But he didnt know her, did he? That didnt matter. He started walking after her. But as much as he tried he couldnt catch up. She whispered something. Even though she was almost out of sight he heard her.

“I am your caretaker.” Then she walked out of sight and he was alone, floating.

The Chief opened his eyes. It had turned night fall and most of his armor matched the background. He got up when he heard some steps. The Chief ran and hid behind a cover of a rock. Just then the rocked move. And the rock was also red and seemed to “breathe” a little. Oh crap.

He ran forward and felt fire impact on his shields. Then bullets rounds followed the fire. He still ran. Then his shields finally neutralized when he felt a blast from a gauss-cannon hit his back. He rolled into the snow and breathed heavily. He wished that his mysterious “caretaker” was here to help him. But he was all alone.
Im going to need help.

The Chief drew his M6G out of its holster and dashed toward the opposite direction that the Defilers were coming from. He tried to continue running but he was weak and tired. He drew an emergency beacon and activate it. He turned around and saw a Taurogunner running at him. The Chief never got a chance to fire his magnum.

His armor had been disabled temporarily. But he knew that the Defilers would never keep him alive for long. And he knew that backup would never rescue him.

But he was wrong.

Wake up Cipher. Wake up.

The Chief sat up quickly and searched around his position. He noticed that his armor had been damaged. Defiler scientists must have examined his armor and broke it up. There was a crack running down his visor and it appeared difficult to see. His eyes managed to see the HUD fine though. He lifted his hand, formed it into a fist, and punched his arm. His shields were gone. He wondered whos voice that was though. He was still a little tired. Maybe a few more minutes may be good. He closed his eyes and fell asleep.

He sat on some grass with a rock in front of him. Across him was his “caretaker.”
“Who are you?” the Chief asked. His voice echoed.
“As I have told you before. I am your caretaker.” She brushed the hair off from her eyes before continuing. “You must escape and survive. There is a HummingBird in the dock bay.
“Wait, Im in a Defiler ship?”
“Yes. Now you must go.” She started to get up.
“Wait, who are you?” She turned around and smiled.
“I am talking to you through telepathy. But to answer your question, you’ll know me when you see me.”
Then she disappeared.

The Chief had awaken from his slumber and searched for an exit from the tiny room. The only thing in there was a door that led to the outside. He fixed his suit the best he could without using any tools. He managed to restore his strength and shields. He hoped that the ship wasnt in space. He couldnt fix the crack on his visor. He smashed open the door and lunged at a Defiler scientist. It turned out to be a Mateon. He grabbed its laser pistol and fired it at the other Mateon. There were two doors in the room and the map in his suit wouldnt activate. The Chief was lost. his COM keyed on.
“I will help you find your way,” a familiar voice whispered. The ship’s lights flickered off. All except the one near the door to his right. He ran to it and pressed a button for it to open. As soon as it slid open his shields were attacked by bullets. He took cover behind the wall and waited for his shields to recharge. He got out of cover and fired four beams. That took out the single Taurogunner in the hall.

The Chief picked up its chain-gun and dashed down the corridor. He made a turn in darkness and suddenly felt like he was falling down several floors. He realized that he was falling down. He finally landed onto some flooring. A door at the far side of the corridor and it was partially open. Cipher made his way across the corridor quietly and looked through the crack. It was a docking bay and there was a HummingBird near the end of the bay. But the bay had Taurogunners, Mateons, Grays, and Liquid Snails.

He grabbed both slides of the door and pushed them to open. The Chief rolled into hiding as soon as the door was big enough for him to get in. Noone seemed to notice. Made it easier for me to kill them, he thought to himself. He raised the chain-gun and fired a burst at a Taurogunner. The sudden fire made them all jump. He took that chance to run for the HummingBird. He got out of the cover and started sprinting to the vehicle. His shields took shots from bullets. He felt pain as his shields neutralized and the bullets collided onto his flesh and armor. He managed to force himself onto the HummingBird and rode it out of the docking bay. Luckily he wasnt in space but the motorcycle aircraft flew downwards to El Nath. He changed the HummingBird’s system into flyer mode.

The Chief flew to El Nath when suddenly the craft took shots. He looked behind him and saw several Black Ravens fly after him. He pushed the flyer faster but all he felt was bullets ping onto his shield and HummingBird. Then the engine burst into flames. He could hardly see anything, but he was near the ground- several feet high up. He had no choice.

Cipher jumped off the HummingBird.

To be continued
