The Grammar Nazi strikes again!

If there is anything that I dislike more than bad spelling, it must be bad grammar.

In my guild, I am known as “The Grammar Nazi.” And, actually, I’m proud of this title.

The only problem is that my guild does not use that nickname nicely. They use it as an insult.
I’m sorry that I correct people when they spell something incorrectly, or when they use improper grammar. Most of the time, when people don’t know if they’ve spelled a word correctly, they ask me whether or not it is, in fact, spelled correctly. So, out of habit, I have started to correct people even when they don’t ask.

I logged into MapleStory a few days ago, and after less than five minutes of being online, the guild leader whispered me.

Leader: Amanda, could you please stop being such a Grammar Nazi? It is really starting to annoy some of the other members.
Me: Like who?
Leader: I’m not going to say that.

So the complaint was anonymous. I would figure out who it belonged to in a few more days.

Yesterday I was training in Ludibrium when a guild member came on: the brother of the leader.

Me: Hello. Is it [name] or [name]?
Him: y do u always [bleep]ing ask me that?! It’s MY account! Use [bleep]ing COMMON SENCE!

I ask him who it is on his account because half of the time, it is his brother. I only ask this to save me some time and embarassment.

Me: I only asked one question. Don’t flip out about it.
Him: STFU [bleep]! i [bleep]ing HATE YOU! ur such a [bleep]ing GRAMMAR NAZI! YOU NEED TO [bleep]ing STOP!
Me: Ever since [name] asked me to stop, I have stopped.
Him: UR STILL SO [bleep]ing annoying about it, tho!
Me: What is your problem? You and your brother have both been extremely rude to me lately for no reason. Ask anyone else in the guild– I’ve stopped correcting you all since [name] asked me to! Look, if you have such an issue with me being a Grammar Nazi, leave the guild.
Him: FINE!

He then expelled one of the people who was defending me before, and left. Because we were both Jr. Masters, he could not expel me. I then re-invited the one who was defending me.

Me: What just happened? He was flipping out.
Guild members: No idea.

It really is strange, how the people who use correct spelling and grammar are annoyed by the people who don’t, and we try to help them, but then the people who don’t use correct spelling and grammar are annoyed by how we do. Oh, well, I guess there isn’t really anything to do about it. I know for a fact that just because it might annoy them, I’m not going to stop being a Grammar Nazi. That’s their problem, not mine.

Peace Out <3

  1. Go, grammar dude! I’m German and so my English is not soo good, that’s why I would like to learn some when playing online. When people just talk like crap, I can’t learn anything ~.~

  2. Kid’s so lazy he can’t even spell out “why” and instead, uses a letter from the alphabet Lol. Might as well just stop speaking english and make his own language if he keeps editing every single word. I don’t correct people but I do get pretty annoyed when people say something like “fer” for “for”. Lol well I usually don’t type with all correct grammar but I type with correct spelling. I guess I’m just typing with correct grammar now because of the homework I type up. = )

  3. We should band up and make a Grammar guild XD

xD “GrammarNazi” could be the name of it, and the emblem could be fire. No, that’s too holocaust-like. (sp?)
OH! I know. It could be the skull thing. xD
But that would be fun. If someone wanted to join the guild, we could have them write up an essay on why grammar is important. XD And if they made too many errors, they couldn’t join. Yeah! That would be awesome!

  4. Hey Panda, I’m so sorry about that terrible event. Can you please tell me that person’s name?

  5. I’m a Grammar Nazi some of the time. >.> Actually most of the time I replace their version of cuss words with real cuss words using the trick and they all freak out.

  6. i dont care about grammar nazis. if they correct me, let them be o_O. i type wrong sometimes on purpoes because it’s shorter =p. stupid guild leader o_o

its a good idea xD, but i dont wanna be talking like “Hmmm, you did not capitalize your sentence. You must capitalize next time or we will kick you out of our guild.”

    xD

I’d join if its in khaini (my scania guy is co-leader of our own guild)

“Did you just make a typo?! YOU SHALL BE SHUNNED!” xD
And it would have to be in Broa, where I am. >_<

  9. Meh, I don’t really mind when people abbreviate into pc talk such as “y” or “ur” and such. I for one do it all the time since it’s much faster. But I do hate it when you can’t understand what a person wrote. BTW you spelled “sense” wrong xD

EDIT : Nvm, that was the other guy talking xD

  10. You spelled anonymous wrong.
    – xoxoxox, your evil twin!

No, I didn’t. I spell checked the entire–
Oh. Oops. I guess that it didn’t pick that one up. >_o Thanks.

No, I didn’t spell it like that. I was quoting what he said. -_-

Jesus, people, if you’re going to tell me what I spelled wrong, at least pay attention to what’s going on in the blog first.
