No, this isn’t really some blog about labels or other things such as that. You want to know what it’s about?
It’s about some person who decided to call me “evolved.” XD

Let me tell you the story, from the very beginning. Now, normally I don’t have a problem with people saying that I sound older than I actually am. That’s right, I’m a literate 12-year-old. (Gasping noises from the audience)

So, yes, I take advantage of this situation, making anyone I add to my buddy list guess my age after around 30 minutes of conversation. I guess you could call it a right of passage. Well, whatever you want to name it, that’s what happens.

Just the other day I met someone named Ryan, right?

Me: How old are you?
Ryan: 16.

So, little conversation followed a few minutes after.

Me: You’re the first person to say their age without asking mine back.
Ryan: How old are you?
Me: Guess.
Ryan: 15.
Me: Nope. xD
Ryan: 16?
Me: I love this. XD

He then guessed the numbers 11-23, skipping one.

Me: Still no.
Ryan: I guessed every number between 11 and 23!
Me: You missed one.
Ryan: 12!
Me: Yep. =D

The average age guess is 14-20, believe it or not. Then, when I tell them my real age, it is followed up with a “No way.” Or a, “You’re kidding.” Or better yet, “O_O”

Dan, the one I mentioned in the blog before this, thought that it was another April Fool’s joke. XD

So, about two days ago, after having people guess the correct age several times, (It ends up that they’re friends with my friends. Connections help. x_x) I had this pleasant conversation with someone.

Him: How old are you?
Me: Guess.
Him: 17.
Me: Nope.
Him: 16?
Me: Nooo…
Him: 18.
Me: 12, actually.
Him: O_O You sound like an adult.

Since when was 17 an adult?
Anyways, later on I was talking to him some more.

Him: You really do sound like an adult.
Me: I get that a lot.
Him: Like, 20 years old.
Me: Do I really sound that old? That’s kind of offending.
Him: Not old, really. Just evolved and weird.
Me: Oh, thanks. I’m now sounding like an adult, AND I’m weird? I appreciate that one. At least I know that now I’m categorized with a brain higher than that of prehistoric man.

That’s pretty much where the conversation ended.

I can’t be the only 12-year-old that’s literate, can I be?
If the answer to that is “yes,” then I will be over-whelmed with some serious loss of faith in Humans.

  1. I always had proper spelling and grammar while typing, and I started when I was about 11. Goes to show what a proper education can do,

  2. Just out of curiosity, do you speak/write two languages fluently?

    I was sort of like you at that age, except I never really got into computers until the age of 14ish. I’m fluent with French and English, and often thought that might be the reason why I might be a tad (humbly spoken) more literate than the average “LOLCCPLZ” person, as it’s been shown that bilingualism results in better learning aptitudes and whatnot.

    So yeah, the question stands, are you bi/trilingual?

    No, although I would love to be. I’m taking French for the first year in my school, and I’ll continue learning the language for 3 years. Hopefully, by then I’ll have some understanding of the language.

  5. I was just like you around your age. When I was 9-10, back when people still played Diablo II, I talked with perfect grammer, etc. Everyone would assume I’m 20+ until I told them my age. And no, your not weird, you just take the time to make your typing more legible. People always ‘tak lyk dis’, because it, “is faster to type,” but really you can type both way at the same speed. The funny thing is I don’t type the same as I used while in games, that’s what CS does to you.

  6. Actually, I find it harder to type with “u” and “r,” among the ever-popular “4” and “2”.
    I feel as though it’s faster to type normally, and I can even do it quickly without looking at the keys.
    I don’t know– maybe “Type 2 Learn” (Haha, imagine, a typing game with a number substituted in as a word) does that to you.

  13. Yea, I was like that at a young age, i blame it on growing up with only adults, i learned to talk like them sooner I suppose. My only fault with the internet is that i dont like using that shift key often lol. Oh and if you ever come to bera, feel free to message me, its hard to find normal-ish people in this game these days >.<

    i’m quite impressed (must be private schooled >__> i sure was and wow i know the difference as this is my first year in public high school)
