What Lies Beneath Nothing. Prologue.

As alot of people are doing, they’re writing stories. Some are funny, some are sad, some are about love. Well, I tried another one to see if they’re any good. The prologue only contains 500 words. So stick with it guys?

What Lies Beneath Nothing.

It was a dark, cold night. A girl trudged along the gloomy streets of a small village, slowly searching. Her clothes were disheveled; the only thing that was still intact on her was this golden necklace, her mother’s. She was famished and tried to look for a suitable place to sleep. She walked slowly, thinking about the previous night, that sickening period of time, when a guild of thieves and bandits took 2 lives in the Lionheart family, her parents.

*Flash-Back*

A hand, my mother’s, grabbed me by my wrist; I looked up and stared into my mom’s face which was livid white. My mother mouthed words that I couldn’t hear. All I heard were shouts across the big mansion. I saw my father, a man with a thin slick sword on his back who shouted frantically: “Emily! Take Sonia and run! I’ll hold off the thieves! Use teleport and get out of here!” I started crying rashly, I didn’t know what was going on.

It seemed that my dad was charging at several men dressed in dark clothes, all with a blood red scorpion imprinted on their pant belts. Suddenly 4 long steel javelins flew out of the air, striking my dad on his back. As if it was in slow motion, his body slowly fell to the ground; he slowly turned his head back to me, smiled and said his last words “I love you both-Argh!” He screamed as more and more javelins pierced his torso.

He crumpled on the ground, either unconscious or dead I couldn’t tell. My mom grabbed me tighter, and as soon as she did, I felt a tug on my entire body, we were practically flying across room javelins whizzing by us. My mom’s face was becoming paler and paler. We sped out of the house and a dark forest was looming over us. She suddenly let my wrist go and whispered her final words and instructions: “Go, Sonia run away and never look back. I can’t go on anymore.”

I just stood there, speechless. Her eyes were unfocused, she grabbed her necklace and her ring, a beautiful sapphire one, handed them to me. She gave me a slight push, and said hoarsely “Run. You’re brother is out there. Go through the forest and-” She was cut off as a single star struck her. I watched, as her too, like my father fell to the ground.

I stumbled into the forest, tripping slightly over the tree roots. I heard a blood-piercing scream from afar. My tears were slowly running down my slender nose. My clothes were been torn by the sharp branches. I kept going on, crying, until I finally reached the other edge of the forest. By the end of my small journey, my clothes were in bits. I saw village lights in a distance… and I started walking…

*End of Flash-Back*

She was almost freezing to death; the girl couldn’t go on anymore. As she dropped down to her knees, she started crying again, her tears were frozen as soon as it ran down her face. She extended her hand to her necklace, grasping it tightly. Her breaths became into small wheezes, she finally fainted on the village road.

In a small cozy house, a boy awoke with a start, a boy who just turned 13, a boy by the name of Alex Congress de Lionheart.
