Chapter 02: Overkill

“Brother please stop this!” shouted Lorene. “I megaphoned* you, now there’s only a matter of time before the GMs come and ban you.”

Naruto666 wasn’t convinced, “Hahaha, yeah right! You and I both know the GMs don’t actually help people.” His grotesque presence towered over her. Naruto666 summoned another bag of monsters from his infinite arsenal and watched in delight as the monsters scattered out into the area.

“This is unforgivable.” Lorene watched as the monsters massacred the people of Henesys by the hundreds. Smoke and fire blazed everywhere and blocked out the sun, transforming the once bountiful green fields into smoldering ash. Not even the pros were strong enough to stop the endless assault of their town.

“Who summoned these?! Arrrgghhh!!!” said a townsperson as a Chief Gray blasted him to death.

Naruto666 looked back at his sister, “Lorene. I think it’s time I kill you again.” He forcefully grabbed her wrist.

“No don’t!” Lorene pulled back and took out her Dark Avarice*.

“Don’t resist. It’ll be just like old times before you moved to Mom’s house.” He let out a short burst of quirky laughter. “Take this!” he threw another summoning bag with 3 Bloctopus. “Kill her!” They followed command and pursued her. She ran fast, only to be cornered against a wall.

She took a stance and prepared herself for the attack. One of the Bloctopus went ahead of the rest and jumped at her. It was about to tackle her down when she screamed, “LUCKY SEVEN!” Her arms extended out and hit the monster countless times until it was battered and destroyed. The 2nd Bloctopus spit a fireball at her. She dodged it at the last second but didn’t anticipate the 3rd Bloctopus’ fireball that was shot right after. “Ack!” she writhed in pain as it scorched off part of her armor.

Her brother enjoyed every second of her struggle. “Give up. Look at you, panting and such, it’s pathetic!”

Lorene burst into tears, “Why are you so mean to me! I HATE YOU!!!”

“Yea. That’s what I want to see, your anger. It makes your pain even more enjoyable to watch. Let it all out. Hehehehe.” Naruto666 started to dance and began walking up the hilltop of Henesys as the embers raged below. “People of Henesys! I am your new ruler!!! All of you must bow down to me or die a merciless dea-”

“You’re pathetic.” Said a voice among the crowd of dieing innocents.

…

“Who said that?” Naruto666 barked looking into the crowd covered up by the smoke and flames. “Show yourself!”

A figure flew out of the smoke clouds at lightning speeds with a massive sword in hand. Naruto666 evaded just in the knick of time as the man flew past him. “WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!” Naruto666 looked behind him to see the man floating in the air. Their eyes locked. “It’s not possible to fly in this game. A hac-”

“A hacker, like you? Yes.”

“Cool. Let’s team up then and kill some more of these innocents.”

“I had another idea in mind.”

Naruto666 looked confused. “Another idea? Like what?”

Without notice Remnant flew to Naruto666 again and swung his blade, “POWER STRIKE!” He missed.

“A quick assassin like me cannot be so easily-”

“SLASH BLAST!” Remnant swung his blade again vigorously pushing the air around him transforming it into a weapon. Naruto666 back-flipped out of the attack partially grazed in the face.

“Hey man! Relax, hackers are suppose to be like brethren, what’s your problem?” Naruto666 said panting.

“Hackers are vermin that have overstayed their welcome.”

“Look who’s talking!”

“…I am going to terminate you. Do not resist.”

“WHAT??? Only a master hacker is capable of that! Who the hell are you?”

“KILL HIM!” shouted Lorene nearby. The rest of the crowd watched too while they fought back the monsters dieing down due to the lack of bag summons.

“GODDAMNIT LORENE, I keep telling you not to get into my conversations!”

She pointed to Remnant, “See him! That’s a GM getting ready to delete your account! You idiot!”

“Lorene, if he deletes me I will beat you when you come back to visit Dad!”

Lorene was silent. “You deserve to die,” said Remnant. “We’re done here talking, let’s finish this.” He lifted his Devil’s Sunrise and aimed it directly at Naruto666.

“Persistent aren’t you?” Naruto666 threw 5 summoning bags into the air. For every bag a large circular-symbol formed in the sky and a beastly Balrog jr. was summoned out of each one. “For some reason, I get the feeling you won’t survive this. ATTACK!”

The 5 Balrogs gnarled and roared and the sound they made alone killed a few people watching in the crowd.

“ROAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!”

Remnant didn’t flinch and certainly was not intimidated as the Balrogs closed up on him. One of them attacked him and he fought back by stabbing it in the face, immediately killing it. Remnant tried to pull out the blade but it was stuck. The Balrogs used the opportunity to scorch him with their devastating flame breath. Remnant let go of the blade and avoided the flames. He jumped on top of one of the Balrogs and pushed it into its own breath combined with the breath of the other Balrogs thus, burning it alive.

“Amazing, he’s taking on 5 Balrogs at once.” Said Lorene. Naruto666 was also amazed but even more terrified.

Remnant glided to the side and took a second to analyze the situation. That’s when one of the Balrogs plunged its claw at him but Remnant used his massive strength to grab the claw and rammed it into the 4th Balrog.

The 4th Balrog was still alive after the blow and was enraged by his own breed harming him. It tried knocking the other Balrog and they locked into a fight. Now the three remaining Balrogs were confused. They began fighting each other, stabbing and piercing in every direction.

Remnant promptly grabbed his sword out of the dead Balrog Jr. “SLASH BLAST!” he yelled, hitting each Balrog for 99,999 damage. The Balrogs toppled over each other into a pile cueing Naruto666 to run for it. Swoooosh, Remnant threw his blade into Naruto666’s back. Naruto666 squealed as he fell tumbling down the hillside.

Coincidentally at the same time, the crowd including Lorene defeated the last of the monsters that had swept over the town. They watched as Naruto666 was brutally attacked by the man everyone thought was a GM.

“Ow…ow…ow…” Naruto666 cried as blood drained out of his body. He wondered why he wasn’t dead and then realized what the man had done to him.

“In case you were wondering, you’re not dead because I hacked my damage so you would have 1HP remaining.” Remnant stepped closer. “I did this so you would be in a paralyzed state, allowing me to finish the job of terminating you.”

“But what if I log off before you do that? Then you will not be able to harm me.”

“Apparently you have not seen a GM at work.” The crowd cheered at him for saying that. “I’ve set it so if you log off your character will stay put in the game. I will still be able to destroy you.”

“NO! You can’t do this to me. What do you have against me? I’m not a bad hacker, all I did was figure out a way to duplicate items…I just wanted to have a little bit of fun!”

“…By taking the fun away from others. I’ve had all I can take of your bullsh*t.”
Naruto666 didn’t know what to say.

“Naruto.” Lorene walked up to him and kneeled by his side. “Give it up Naruto…Garry. Just realize that you’ve lost and except it.”

He angrily tried grabbing her again but ended up flailing his arms around like a drunkard. “You…bitch. I can’t wait ‘til you come back to see me and Dad.”

“No Garry, you’re not going to put your hands on me anymore.”

“Says who? Dad doesn’t care.”

“Says Mom. She’ll have you arrested the next time you touch me.”

“We’ll see about that, won’t we?”

“I’m afraid so.” Lorene stepped back and looked at Remnant. Remnant grabbed his sword and dug it deeper into Naruto666’s chest, charging a ball of energy with his other hand.

“VANQUISH!”

The clouds cleared up after a while and the fields returned to its natural green as if nothing happened. The land of Henesys has a way of cleansing itself of impurities.

Remnant sheathed his sword back into place and left the scene. It seemed no one cared to thank him for his efforts but he was all right with that. Lorene went up to him as he started to leave, “Hey sir. I wish you didn’t have to see me and my brother fighting like that over there. But thanks. You’re the only GM I know that actually responded to a megaphone call.”

Remnant concealed his smile. “No problem.” He took out a teleportation scroll from his pocket and started chanting the spell to use it.

“Leaving so soon?”

Remnant finished the chant and started fading away, “My job isn’t over.”

“Okay bye!” Lorene looked at his face for a long time hoping she would remember it if she ever saw him again. That’s when everything finally hit her, “Hey wait…” Remnant glanced back at her and disappeared completely. “…You’re not a GM?”
