rich people, morons and theres way too many idiots and morons who think they are way better than
you and they will never give up trying to rub it in your face. Then there’s the people at schoo, work, in the family;

Part 15: Returning Home

It was two a.m, and the furious blizzard blew through Henesys.
Maria ran as fast as she could through the blinding storm. Snowflakes hit her full force in the face. it was so cold, and the flakes were so sharp, they started making cuts in her skin. Hurt like hell.
She ran for all she was worth. Then as she passed the next corner, a huge arm reached out of nowhere and grabbed her!
Maria screamed as she was yanked back behind the corner. A cold hand clamped tightly on her mouth.
“Easy, Maria! It’s me!” Ross’ voice echoed.
Maria froze in surprise. She was so sure it was a Ranger who grabbed her.
She buried her face on him and cried at the mix of relief and dissipating panic.
“Cmon! Snap out of it, kid! We gotta get out of here! Rannbo, let’s go!”
++++++++++++++++++++
We weren’t the only ones to escape Henesys that night.
Several noobs, and children snuck out and made their way through the streets. In this blizzard, visibility is reduced to mere inches. Unfortunately, many went the wrong way or blindly ran into patrolling JA men. read more

Part 13: Life Sentence

+This part talks not of the JA, but of alarming side issues.

The only way for a visitor in Henesys to not attract attention is never leave the Victoria Road strip, and don’t stay any longer than two hours in day time. If one must stay overnight, they are to leave at dawn. Stay with your group and don’t go off alone even if its just to the general store. If you are alone and you need to pass through Henesys to buy supplies,
get your supplies and get out. Plan your trip well so you don’t end up in Henesys at nightfall. Appropriate attire for visitors or passers by: Plain dim colored bottomwear and topwear. Don’t wear anything that might upset the residents.
If you end up in a conversation with a preacher, NEVER break the conversation. This endless list of suggestions, which would be advised to anyone going to [North Korea], are the Victoria Tourism Office’s safety guidelines for people traveling in southern Victoria. They were drafted this fall when SEA Landers were permitted to go to Ammoria, the wedding village only 150 Km outside of Henesys. Florina and Lith are popular vacation and honeymoon hotspot. To get there they must take the southern road from Ellinia, and go through Henesys. Reports showed that people who didn’t meed these guidelines fell into trouble quickly.
Visitors pass through Henesys daily during the peak seasons. It is the only rest and supply stop. A few hotels and general stores and restaurants fit the needs of the travellers.
The people of Henesys stare at them in a hostile manner. If someone is there longer than an hour, the JA men take notice. If he is there long enough, the bowmen question him. Forget time limits if you catch the attention of a preacher or any resident. If they want to talk to you, you have no choice but to chat with them. If you don’t it is a major disrespect, and the rangers will be on you fast.
Many visitors are arrested, and interogated by the JA. The JA demand where they are from, where they are going, why and other related questions. In one interrogation session alone, you entire life will be pried open, even if by painful force.
Then the JA decide if the person’s reasons are legitimate enough for him to a: leave Henesys and continue on, b:be thrown in jail and put to the slave work for a period of time, or c: be forced into becoming a resident.
Even foreign people who have served assigned jail and slave time are not allowed to leave, instead, the people; be it the church, the JA or the general folk, will forcefully assimilate you into their fold.
Brainwashing and intense persuasion are common practices in Henesys.
One man I talked to, said he lived in Henesys for two years after serving 9 months slave time, and instead of being ‘cleansed and faithful’ he is disgusted, outraged, and frightened by what he saw.
“I have dumb moments where I do really stupid things without thinking. I’m a civillian graduate of Ludus University, and I work construction in Ludi and Kerning. 24 years old, and that well educated, I should have been smart enough not to be called a noob. Used in this context, it meas ‘absolute idiot’.”
“So what happened?” I asked.
“I was on my way home from Lith where we finished a major project, and the bus stopped here for the night. The driver told us to keep away from the people. After I got off the bus, this lady, who I guess was with the Jalonska Church, came up to me and began drilling me with questions on my religious views in an offensive manner. I know this religion here is crazy, and these people would do whatever to convert you. I told her to go away and she got pissed and hammered more questions at me, and, hell, she popped me one in the face. I got pissed and shouted and told her to..fuqk off or something like that, and some rangers heard me and came at me. They slammed me to the ground scolding me for telling off the preacher, saying I was denying the holy word of righteousness or some snailcrap like that. They threw me in the slammer for a few days and then I at interrogation they just kicked the crap outta me for a good few hours. I got 9 months of labor and worked that off.
When my 9 was up and I said I wanted to leave they threatened death by fire. I don’t wanna die, so I reluctantly took the other choice they offered me: Take up their religion, work construction here, get married, and live here as a permanent resident.”
“So you got married here?” I asked, surprised.
“Yeap,” the man said. “The day I got off the fields the guys said they had a bride lined up and everything. The lady’s family wanted me because the father, a bishop and construction master, wanted me to work for him, so it was with the wedding I was added to the family.”
“What has life been like for you here?”
“Not pleasant. My wife Corella, she’s a monster. One of those 6’5” women who can 400 pounds without breaking a sweat. My first year, I felt safer at work than I did at home. Corella hammered me brutally in every way she could to to change me from my former self into one of the home grown guys here. I’m good at faking it now. We built our house in a month, and in the second year, we had a kid. “
Like almost all of Henesys’ foreign based residents who are married, he was shocked with how severely she beat their kid.
“My 2 year old son stuck his tongue out at someone while we were having supper, and she leaned over and stuck a pin is his tongue.”
“Stuck a pin in the child’s tongue?”
“Yeah. She said she was surprised at me because I thought nothing of it, and it happens in her family,”
I interjected, “Under Maple law, that is an act of violence, and abuse. Don’t they know that here?”
“No. If they did they wouldn’t care. Corella saw that not as violence, but as a mean to break the child’s will.” read more

Part 14: Last day in Henesys

When we first came to Henesys, we assumed we would be making a documentary on Henesys well kept secrets. We found the secrets, but not at all on our own terms. Every one of us was pulled into the fold of Henesys’ extremist religious society backed by the militant Justice Arrow and it’s fanatical leader Dan Jalonska, a descendent
of 16th century colonist Lomi Jalonska.
Under the Jalonska regime, everything appears well on the outside of this peaceful and productive society, but once we got under the covers, we found the horrifying secrets even the GM can’t report on. Like many other media groups that came here to make a documentary fell into the one way current from visitor to trapped resident, MapleSAP’s team is not exempt from the big challenge of escaping Henesys and re-obtaining our freedom. read more

Part 12: Struggle for Freedom

Like the rest of the regions in MapleWorld, Henesys is also watched over by the GMs, but unlike everywhere else, only one GM is present here, thanks to Henesys’ special 3t independence status. The solo GM has no contacts, no communication beyond mail to Orbis, nor does he have the proper authorization to do fulfill his role as a GM.
“All I ever do that’s my job is I write up reports each month and send them to Orbis.” GM Harris explained.
“I noticed there’s no mailbox around here,” I mentioned.
“The JA pulled it out and got rid of it. They don’t want people sending mail outside of Henesys. There is a local postal service here, but they open and check your mail, making sure there’s no harmful information or items being sent out. They always report to the JA. If someone tried to mail a letter calling for help, they would be canned the second they hand the package over,”
“So, how do you send your reports?”
“I write them up, pass them to the JA at their office in town, and after they approve of it, they hand it to the next visitor heading east to take it with them,”
“Have there been times when the JA wasn’t satisfied with your work?”
“Lots of times,” GM Harris said. “They get pretty pissed if I put down stats of child abuse, or if I wrote about certain incidents that go on, it really riles them up. They want no intervention from Orbis in the affairs here,”
“What happens then?”
“I re-write it. Sometimes, I re-write it several times, because it is my job to make sure Orbis knows that’s going on here, and it takes negotiating, pressuring in order to get their approval. I’m no macho tough guy here, these bowmen are scary when you piss them off.”
“What’s the worst that’s ever happened to a GM here?”
Harris pauses. “The last GM before me died. He pushed a second unscreened copy of a report. That copy contained a page load of critical information saying that the JA was killing magicians. Back then, there was a magicians’ village not too far away, and the JA were burning them all. An officer saw the GM slip the package into the back of a truck. The JA stopped the truck, searched it and found the report. Poor bastard was burned up with the rest of them!”
I was shocked to hear this.
“What happened when Orbis found out?”
“The Equitas president and mayor said he got fried by some psychotic fire mage; so they sent me. They gave me special instructions for this post here: Don’t slip dirt past the JA, don’t piss them off, dont interfere with their laws, even if their enforcement violates people’s rights under federal law; pretty much I was told to sit here with my thumb up my ass and do nothing!”
“So you have no authority?” I asked.
“Nope. I’m just a puppet here. I requested several times for a transfer somewhere else, but they never called back. I’m supposed to watch for hackers, but they never come around here; not since the JA blew up the Free Market portal. I am pretty much an ambassador from Orbis here. I go to church like everybody else, I go to community events, some times I even have to help with the harvest or something else big.”
“Harsh,” I said. “So even if you somehow managed to relay my findings to the GMs in Orbis, nothing would happen?”
“I don’t kno exactly, and the JA is hell-bent on keeping things this way,” read more

Part 11: Magician traffiking business-the South end

If the Justice Arrow truly hate magicians to the point of killing any of them on sight, then why do they capture them, hoard them as prisoners, pack them into cargo trucks and send them north?
The answer lies in the Equitas Center’s Economics Office.
As the people are distracted with Christmas and with all of the JA troops now home, less attention goes toward
the Equitas Center, a three floor plain building in Jalonska Square near the grand church and the statue.
The information presented in this episode was obtained almost entirely by chance, luck, and risk.
Maria and her mistress were on the second floor of the EC. The woman’s sister, Corella, needed some information for her class project- a copy of Henesys’ financial records for this year. The economics officer, Fred Fielding gladly assisted her, opening the cabinet to pull out the paper document. As they chat, Maria watched wearily a sealed envelope on the desk. It was labeled ‘RESTRICTED’ and the writing below the stamp- ‘Magician orders’
When the right moment came, Maria risked her life, and swiped the package, hiding it in her coat. She held her breath, and felt a drop of sweat trailing down through her hair. Lucky for her no one noticed. The next day, she passed the package to me and I opened it. read more

MapleSAP Special:
Justice Arrow (10)New Arrivals

While I was in the office answering Chief Jalonska’s questions, Rannbo was also at the base, secretly recording as a truck full of new arrivals pulls in. This is Rannbo’s report:+The truck looked like the typical mover’s truck. It pulled up infront of the detainment building and some bowmen came outside to greet the driver, who was also a bowmen. The latch was pulled back, and the door reeled up.I saw at least 20 scared kids’ faces peering out as they huddled in the back, shivering.”Allright! Out with ye! Let’s go! Move it!”Some of the kids started to jump out, then the troops got impatient and started hauling them out one by one.”Move it! Line up against that wall!” another ranger barked, waving his bow towards the side of the building. The noobs and children trudged through the snow to the wall. They only wore street clothes, which the cold air penetrated and chilled them to the bone.”Pick up the pace!” the same ranger barked. The children and noobs were all lined up against the wall. The driver walked by them, checking them down on a list. “Remove your name tags and hand them over!” The lead ranger barked. Some of the kids did, others didn’t.The ranger walked up to a green haired boy who refused to take off his necklace. “Didn’t you hear me? Take off your name tag!””Fuqk you, man!” the kid spat back defiantly. The ranger, level 90 at least, hid the boy in the face with his bow as hard as he could. The boy fell back, slamming hard against the snow. Another ranger closed in and put his boot on the kid’s chest and pressed hard.”You listen to me, boy! This is your home, and we are your family! You better start shaping up, son!”The ranger grabbed the kid’s name tag, and jerked it hard, snapping off the silver chain around his neck.”Stand up!” the ranger said as he grabbed the kid by the throat, and lifted him to his feet, and slammed him against the wall.Another bowman, accompanied by two Rangers, walked by the kids, and held a Meiger Counter close to each of them. A meiger counter is a small device that detects magic energy and radiation. The device emits small beeps at irregular beat as it is waved infront of each of the 54 kids. The buzzer goes off as it is waved over a blue haired girl.”Magician here” the man said. The boss Ranger nodded to the rangers accompanying the man. The Rangers grabbed the frightened 10 year old girl and dragged her off. “Well? What’s she good for?” the ranger demanded.”I’m getting about 45mU” the man said. “Kill her and put her in storage!”The little magician panicked; tore away from the rangers and tried to run. She tripped over a buried rock and fell down. Without any hesitation, both Rangers cocked their bows ans fired two arrows each into the girl’s head. They pierced her skull, killing her instantly. The kids stood against the wall, paralyzed in fear as another magician kid was pulled away. This time he was taken out of view then killed. The lead ranger nodded as the driver boarded the truck and drove off. “Magicians are sin! Use of magic is sin! It’s one thing to use mana fuel to power a truck or when there’s no petrogas. The Universal Migrator would be most disgraced to see humans; his creations using such caustic energy. Magic is not yours; it belongs solely to the planet, and is for the planet’s use only! Magicians claim they are one with the earth, but they steal the energy and use it for themselves! Any righteous passage for one who produces magic is death! Am I clear?”the children and noobs nod their heads in fear. “Get them inside!” The noobs and children were all marched single file into the detainment building or ‘jail’ as I call it.”Turn to the left! Eyes front!” The Ranger shouted. The noobs did as they were told. Chief Jalonska and Father Lykon appeared.”That’s Haddis, supreme commander of the Justice Arrow, I’m Chief Jalonska, the commander-in-chef, the man in the robes is Father Lykon, the holy disciple which you will gladly take his advice. and you bunch are all little noobs, taken from the sinful place you once called home brought here. You will all undergo a test. Some of you will be servants to the people of Henesys, gratefully working hard for your master. Some of you can become promising Bowmen and serve with the Justice Arrow in the future. The rest of you, if you fail, will be servants doing all the menial tasks that no one else do; because we reserve those jobs to the wretched kind who can still serve a purpose. Those of you who fail miserably will be put to death. Any questions?” read more

Part 9: It’s a Hard Knock Life

It’s Homecoming, and hundreds of Bow Masters and super high level bowmen and bow-women from the Justice Arrow have returned home. The people of Henesys are ecstatic over the arrival of the troops and everyone is celebrating.
Families greet their fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters who came back home for the short time.
The day after the troops came home from Roika, Chief Jalonska holds a ceremony and religious service. He praises his best troops on their efforts abroad, and Father Lykon leads the prayers, gospel singing and all that.
Every evening for the next few days people dance and play games. While everyone is in the best of moods, things are very different for the slaves and prisoners here. As for my team, Henesys has become an extremely dangerous place. read more
