The Cleric knelt over his corpse and picked a small black scroll off of it… he’d gotten what he came for.
Annihilating the Tauromacis that his foe had spawned, he used a sparkling rock as a portal back to town and opened a talking channel to all of his suppporters…
“Doing the gainful employment dance, YEAH! I’ve just murdered an old man!”
This was met with cheers.

Sounds kind of strange when you don’t have any idea what I’m talking about.
I killed Grendel.
The battle wasn’t exactly epic- As a one-point-Teleport Cleric, I had access to every trick in the book including Holy Arrow. (-3 Jock points)
Took me approximately five minutes from the first strike to the last, and I should’ve gone with my original idea…
1) Fill ETC inventory with Red Snail Shells.
2) Tape the beating of Grendel with only Three Snails.
3) Post it on YouTube as ‘Beginner’s 3rd Job Advancement.’
One flaw with that, though… They’d end up fighting that Mia person that everyone hated back on Maple.
But I digress. After that it went fairly smoothly- got 2 Dark Crystals for the Test of Mind yet only needing one. Bah.
I went and got my 3rd job advancement… Put my first point into Shining Ray, which is indeed even more shiny than I’d originally hoped or dreamed. Now… comes the fun part. Next level I’ll add 1 Elemental Resistance and 2 Dispel in preparation for Mystic Door and Holy Symbol (which I am maxing first)
Why am I doing it in such a grossly obtuse way? Because it is there.
So to those of you in the audience saying “Calm down, Sherpa, you’ve got 2 levels before Holy Symbol… because you insist on taking 1 Elemental Resistance, which won’t save you any more than a wet paper napkin.”
I need Elemental Resistance! It’s shiny, and 12% off magic damage is just wonderful.
Hmm.
For some reason I get a mental picture of a Priest dressed in tie-dye clothes, throwing candy everywhere while yelling something along the lines of… “The power of fun COMPELS you!”
It’s very odd… yet fitting.
