Eternal – Chapter 1-4

Rodin smirked and held his sword in an offensive stance, readying himself for whatever the Cleric produced. The Cleric sat there, making motion after motion in an extremely long spell.
“So… are we going to do this or not?”
“Rodin,” Aurida replied, “This is an example of a ‘Needs concentration so shut up’ thing.”
“Hmph.”
Aurida finished his spell and a column of light shot up about five feet to the side of him. Once the light faded, there was a decrepit zombie standing on top of a complicated symbol.
Rodin simply stared. “This is IT? This is all that you want me to fight?!”
Aurida frowned. “Just do it. I call the shots here.”

“Ugh, whatever.” Rodin walked over to the zombie, and with one blow of his sword, smote it. He ran his foot through the symbol under it, ruining the symbol.
“Ok… apparently we need… something a little more powerful.” Aurida began his symbols again.
“Hmm. What’s it going to be this time? Something even weaker?”
“No. With this one, I plan on barely letting you live, because you obviously think so much of yourself.”
Aurida finished and Rodin held his sword forward, preparing for another attack.

A gigantic white dragon flew out of the portal that Aurida created. Green sparks started flying over its head.
“What?! That’s cheating!,” Rodin yelled. “I can’t beat it if you’re constantly healing it!”
“That is of course, the point. You’re no good to me if you think so highly of yourself, and so I’m going to dismiss you. Once you lose you can be with your girlfriend for eternity.”
Rodin glanced over at the statue of Sarah. “No. For her sake… I can sacrifice my cover.”
The dragon attacked, lunging at Rodin. He quickly gave it a stunning blow to the head and drew several symbols in the air.
“What is that? What are you doing?!”
“Hmm,” Rodin thought. “I just have to make him speak and he can’t very well heal the dragon anymore.”
Rodin finished, and the symbols which he had drawn in the air formed a portal. He tossed his sword in, and pulled out another one. This new one was obviously made of iron, but with runes written along the sides.

“It’s game time,” Rodin muttered before leaping into the air and mercilessly attacking the dragon. Aurida was babbling to himself at what he just saw, and so he couldn’t heal the dragon as it was torn apart.
And, indeed it was. After it had its existence annihilated, Rodin looked up at Aurida. “That was what I originally intended to learn.”
“That’s not possible, though!”
“Nothing’s impossible, under the right circumstances.”
“Tell me about it when you get up, alright?”
“Huh? What do you-“
Aurida put his hand forward and blew Rodin backwards, knocking him out as he ran into a wall. The Cleric smirked.
“Wise choice, I made, in choosing this one… but he’ll have to be hindered. Just a little. We don’t want history to look back on him as the one who did it…” He closed his eyes and thought of how to handicap the Fighter in front of him.

“Yes. He’s extremely powerful, but the Cleric… the Cleric wants to be the most powerful one. He’s going to do whatever he can to fulfill his goal, and so he’s doomed his little party to failure.”
“Hmm. Yes. But, we can’t be too safe… We’ll have to infiltrate them and drive them apart.”
These conspirators plotted the downfall of Aurida’s mission, and Aurida plotted the downfall of Rodin. All being said, it wasn’t going especially well for anybody who was fighting to better the world.
